Running between the rains...

2 Mile Jog

I got up this morning and could tell by the sound outside that it was raining. I had oatmeal for breakfast then did a couple of workout videos and checked the job boards on the internet. It's pretty sad... not much there for me and even worse when I submit resumes and don't even get a callback. Pretty frustrating!

But back to reality, the rain has been coming down since sometime overnight and I patiently waited for a break in the action so I could go out today. At about 1130 I noticed, on radar, a break in the cells and I headed out the door. About three minutes into my warm up walk, the drizzle resumed and I thought I'd picked the wrong time but it ended just as quickly as it started.

I began the jog and hit the two mile mark at 23 minutes. I had gone a slightly different way and had to do a cool down walk that lasted a little over a mile, but that was okay.

As soon as I got back to the house, the rain started again. Talk about timing! Now if I could just find a job that easily!

Today's workout, with warm up and cool down was:
3.32 miles
46 minutes

5K Jog

It's another warm day and again I was out in shorts and a light weight tee shirt. The sky was not clear today, in fact it was only partly sunny (as opposed to partly cloudy) but with the lack of wind, the temp was very comfortable.

Today was a scheduled 5K day. I started and went through about the first half when I saw two white dogs suddenly appear from behind a house. One was similar to a husky and the other was a Pit Bull !!

The husky ran toward me and I had no where to go. I slowed down, held my head up, and breathed normally. The guy trotted beside me and briefly sniffed my leg, then ran back to the Pit Bull. Luckily the Pit stayed on the sidewalk on the far side of the street and left me alone. Whew!

The remainder of the workout was uneventful, thank goodness!!!

I finished the 5K in 38 minutes today, not a record, but about my average time lately. Interestingly, 38 minutes was the time I turned on my fourth virtual 5K back in December and today I'm doing it in a workout. Yes, we CAN improve, it's just hard to see from day to day.

With the warm up and cool down, today's total workout was:
3.83 miles
50 minutes

    It is always scary when you run into large dogs. More often than not, they are friendly or at least harmless. But you never can tell until it's too late. Glad today was safe!

Third Day for Shorts and a Tee Shirt!

2 Mile Jog

It's another warm and sunny day and good enough for the third day in a row to go outside with shorts and a light tee shirt. Although it's already over 70F as I write this, the long range forecast has highs only in the upper 50s beginning on Sunday. All in all, it's still not bad for the first week of February!

After a workout video this morning, I had a snack around 1000hrs and went outside for the jog around 1145hrs. Today was a scheduled two mile jog which I completed in 23:30.

With the warm up and cool down, today's total was:
2.62 miles
35 minutes

  I did 55 min on my treadmill this morn and what I really want to do is train with the C25k team. I ran for 60 seconds during my 55 min and realized I'm not ready. I only have 1 and 1/2 lungs so it's very difficult for me to work up to that. In college I had a running class and the final was a 5k but I did have to walk some of it. I know it all takes time. You inspire me.

    GOOD WORKOUT. WE MADE IT INTO THE LOWER 50'S TODAY OF COURSE I HAD TO WORK ALL DAY AND GO TO CLASS. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE BACK IN THE MIDDLE 30'S BY TOMORROW AND STAY THERE FOR A WEEK AT LEAST.

It was warm again today and only partly cloudy. The sun was out and it felt good. I ran again today in shorts and a tee shirt and I hope that my legs will eventually show the results of the sun.

Today was scheduled for a 5K. I wasn't as fast as Saturday, but that's okay. I expect ups and downs to occur and it won't bother me as long as the trend is in the right direction!

I did the warm up walk at 14 min/mile, about as fast as I used to jog the distance! After the warm up, I went right into the 5K which I finished in 38 minutes. That time produced no records and no speeding tickets, but i suppose it's okay.

With the warm up and cool down, today's total was:
3.80 miles
50 minutes

    YOU CAN'T BE YOUR FASTEST EVERY DAY. THE OTHER DAY I DID WII FIT FREE RUN 30 MINUTES DISTANCE JUST OVER 5 MILES. THE NEXT DAY I BARELY GOT 4 MILES IN THE SAME 30 MINUTES.

2 Mile Jog

It warmed up quickly today from a low in the 40s and while I was waiting for the temperature to get warmer, I did another video this morning, even though the January Challenge is over. After lunch, I went out for the two mile jog.

There were virtually no clouds in the sky, although it's got rather cloudy late in the afternoon while writing this. Nothing was showing on the radar, but the sun definitely disappeared.

When I went out for the jog, the wind was gusty up to 29mph. Even with the wind, I wore shorts and a light weight tee shirt (I'm sure my legs needed the sunlight).

Two miles today was an even 23:00 minutes, or 11:30 min/mile. Wasn't I whining a couple of months ago because somebody on The Biggest Loser did a mile in that time?? I'm feeling rather smug about the whole thing right now, although I'm sure something will bring me down to earth soon. For now, I'm going to enjoy the feeling.

With the walking for warm up and cool down, today's total workout was:
2.70 miles
35 minutes
