Cardio Streak Day 211
0630 hrs – Walk
Ok, it's cold this morning no matter how you slice it. I've got things to do so out the door I went at 0630.
Today was the swing day and it's only for a walk. I dressed warmly and went for a full hour and covered 3.24 miles.
Brrrrr, I'm glad to be back in the house!

Cardio Streak Day 210
1630 hrs – 5K Jog
I returned back to the Metroplex in the early afternoon and took care of some errands in town. At about 1630 I finally got to do my workout for the day. It's getting colder and the wind is gale force out there; well, not really, but it's blowing pretty good.
After the customary warm up walk, I started the jogging session. A couple of days ago, I trimmed a minute off my average time but today was not so special. I finished the session at 41 minutes but it does seem to be getting a little easier, if only by small steps (no pun intended).
With warm up and cool down, today was:

Cardio Streak Day 209
0800 hrs – Running Intervals
Ok, so I slept in a little this morning. It felt great. After a 5K jog and an elliptical yesterday, my legs were a little sore and I was just a little tired. I'm sure eating slightly more than normal for Thanksgiving yesterday probably contributed to the feeling.
I really did not overdo the food yesterday. I ate smaller portions than I've ever had in my life. I did go back for seconds on the protein and sweet potatoes and even had one slice of apple pie, but all in all it was a fairly sane day food wise.
Once I woke, I drank 16oz of water and headed out. There was light fog this morning and it was ever so chilly at 52F. I was dressed only in shorts and a tee shirt and the first ten minutes or so was a little brisk, especially with the high humidity and a breeze that exacerbated the wind chill.
After the warm up walk, I started the running:
60 sec run / 60 sec walk for eight minutes
60 sec run / 90 sec walk for ten minutes
30 sec run / 90 sec walk until done
I planned for a five mile trek today. During the first part of the workout, I had a running partner who went with me for about 1.50 miles but then turned off and went another way. (Suzanne Summers in the white T-Bird - American Graffiti?) After that, I was on my own.
I ran past the fire boys and the cop shop but nothing much was happening. The courthouse was pretty much deserted so I continued down to the railroad tracks and turned around for the return trip. One of the pitfalls to running in a small town is the cracks and uneven streets. Even though everybody is pretty friendly and I don't have to play dodge-the-car here, the worry is always tripping or falling. Luckily I've been klutz-free so far.
Since this is country, I was beset upon by two dogs in the later portion of the workout. I ignored them and kept on my way and I noticed that they went back to their yard and decided not to continue to harass me. It's just as well, I was tired by that time.
Today I did 5.02 miles in 65 minutes. That does include the walking portions, by the way. With the walking in the intervals and the warm up and cool down, the total for the day was:

Cardio Streak Day 208
0700 hrs – 5K
I did two workouts today. At 0700 I went outside for a 5K run which I completed in just a schosh (that's a West Texas word, I believe) over 40 minutes (40:05 minutes and 3.12 miles) so I'm rounding it to 40 minutes just for simplicity. It was foggy out this morning but there were no cars to mention.
At 0930 I jumped on the elliptical and did a twelve minute workout. I got the pulse rate up to about 160 at one point and kept the meter pegged in the "endurance" category for the better part of the workout.
For now, I'm going to do another stretch and try to ease some stiffness then get ready for Thanksgiving and The Cowboys!

Cardio Streak Day 207
0400 hrs – 5K
Today I'll mention some of my SP Friends who seem to be more active on the site. Some need encouragement and some need to be emulated. I'll leave it up to you to decide which is which.

Look at the temp, it's the coldest morning yet and my happy butt was out the door at 0400! I remember years ago I ran a couple of miles on top of a dam in a blizzard while a bunch of my guys were watching me from the comfort and warmth of the physical fitness center. When I got back, my sweats were covered with snow. Maybe I was a little crazy back then (probably was) but for now, going out in 42F weather is a major step for me.
The sky was clear so the light was lower today. Luckily some guy invented these things called street lights so I wouldn't fall over my own feet while out there!
Today was running intervals:
60 sec run / 60 sec walk (then repeat - total time eight minutes)
60 sec run / 90 sec walk (then repeat - total time ten minutes)
30 sec run / 90 sec walk (repeat until done)
Today I went a total of 5.15 miles in 70 minutes. I'm tired. With the warm up and cool down, the total workout today was:
