More Trailer Decorating/Adjusting

Friday, September 30, 2011

2/3/1993 – Last night we tried the cafeteria next to Penny’s. I bought a lined windbreaker and I moved one of the Velcro patches back on the arm so I can close the wrist tightly. Today I moved the other Velcro patch. We ran out of propane last night and the furnace ran continuously for hours.

We mailed two more change-of-address notices (I did six yesterday and two on Monday while paying bills), a letter to Gogola, and a post card to Everett. Then I went around the block to get to the “Big Orange,” which the BW liked better than the other place recommended by Frank. After that I went to the Home Depot. We moved the coffee maker and toaster forward so, with the TV and a light, I had four plugs and two outlets. Then I bought three converters that plug in and make six three prong outlets in p lace of two outlets, thus adding 12 outlets – four more in front, four more in back, and four more between the stove and sink. I installed them by removing the old switch plate cover, plugging them in, and screwing the center screw tight.

Then I bought a timer ($4.71) to turn the TV on at 7:00 (or whenever) and a dead-bolt lock for the door. I need to route the 300 ohm twin-lead line neatly and cut off the excess because right now there’s a mess with the TV wires, extension cord, timer, and antenna line all coiled together.

I put the dead-bolt away while I think about it.

You are very handy. It is impressive really. Who knew there was so much to do living in a trailer!

NOT HERE!

Thursday, September 29, 2011

2/2/93 – Yesterday I found the Pinellas trail, but the BW was afraid to leave the van in that neighborhood. In the afternoon we rode the city bike trail and walked out on the Safety Harbor municipal pier. At Frank’s last night, and told him we would do ethnic food tonight.

The BW just back from shopping and is totally bummed out by the traffic, crowds, and east coast attitude (rudeness). Her mind is made up – NOT HERE! She just can’t take the crowds, I guess. As she was getting emotional I pointed out that there are lots of alternatives and we don’t have to stay.

I have to agree with that east coast attitude, sadly. I MISS the midwest, where people are FRIENDLY and helpful. We won't even talk about the driving in the Boston area---WORST EVER of all the places I've ever lived. Only place worse would be somewhere like NYC or over in Italy or India where there are no rules of the road.

An Inch of Water on the Floor

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

1/31/93 - Fortunately dumped the holding tank late last night. Woke at 2/30 with about 1 inch of water on the floor. The BW did a quick flush about 1:00 and some paper wedged the toilet ball open so the water stayed ON! After filling the tank, pipe, and bowl, the water started running onto the floor. We had the place dried out by 3:30 and went back to bed. Missed church as we were washing rugs, towels, and blankets.

Called Annie at noon, and got a big reaction from the BW when I mentioned that she had told people why I was at a Yoga class. In the afternoon we went to Penny’s where she got a lip pencil, had lunch, and then to Wards where I finally bought a pair of Etonic walking shoes. Then we went to the beach – and along the beach to the big 60 pier. We watched the pelicans, the fishermen, and the sunset, and we got cold. Still haven’t gone fishing.

OH NO! What a mess that water must have been. By the way, what does BW stand for? I have been wondering about that for a long time. I know it's your wife (that's the W), but I'm worried about whatever the B stands for, cause I can only think of one word that men most often associate with their wives, and it's NOT GOOD!! But you make me smile anyway! emoticon

Much Better TV Reception

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

1/30/93 – Went out on the city bike path Thursday – followed it until it ended, then came back. Went again in the afternoon, but was turned back near the end by the police. Turned out it was the body of the guy who shot 5 supervisors (killed 3 for sure) then committed suicide. Friday morning we got up at 4 and 5:30 – the BW crying because she didn’t have any space. I moved my mattress up front, put back cushions back there, and separated the trailer into two rooms for sleeping and two rooms for visiting. Then we cleaned all day. Cheered her up to get the place in better order. Also – the BW bought a toaster and juicer at a garage sale next door. There is something to be said for living in a mobile home park.

Today we went all the way to the end of the trail and back. We met a guy who gave us grapefruit (two grocery bags full) for the picking. Then we went to camping world and bought a stove cover. I start a gallon of water in back at night, close two folding doors, open the bathroom door, and hope for the best. The BW took drugs last night so she said it wasn’t a fair test.

Yoga Thursday at 7:00 – skip ACIM Monday to listen to TV. Also – I rewired the outlet and got a bunch of 300 ohm twin-lead and a connector so we can use the outside antenna. That way, we get eleven good channels, two poor, and one terrible channel. Much better than a monopole.

Well...I wasn't expecting THAT! (the part about the dead guy on your walking trail)

Your blog is fun to read!

It's a good day when you can get grapefruit just for the effort of picking them.

Some Exploring, Some Settling In

Monday, September 26, 2011

1/27/1993 - We went to camping World and the University of Southern Florida yesterday. I ran around by myself for a couple of hours in the morning, then went to see Frank by myself from 7:30 to 11 in the evening. We watched a movie on TV – channel 13 here – “Next 48 Hours”, which was pretty good.

The BW is worried about fixing her bike, and we bought lots of “stuff” to hang up. I put up six more towel racks and have a few left – lost 16 cup hooks, and have just generally been working on making the place livable. We bought a water purifier from Sears on Sunday and now have an automatic still. We still need some white vinegar, however, to clean the tank.

We just bought a distiller . I assume that that is what you are talking about. It's amazing how much stuff is removed.
