The Beer

Thursday, December 13, 2012

D. G. Yuengling & Sons, Inc. is in Pottsville, PA 17901. They brew Yuengling Traditional Lager, Light Lager, Lord Chesterfield Ale, Dark Brewed Porter, Original Black & Tan, Premium and Premium Light Beer. I had never seen anything but the Traditional Lager and Original Black & Tan until recently, and I have no idea if they sell any at all where you are. You might try World of Beers or any other big liquor store, or do an online search. There is a world full of good beers out there. Good luck.

I've dedicated my adult life to trying different beer. Craft beer. It's worthwhile.

Yuengling

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Yuengling is the oldest brewery in the United States. It has been in business since 1829, is still American owned, and is family operated. I know there are older breweries in Europe, and probably other places - people have been brewing beer for 5,000 years, but this is the local ancient (and good) brew. It now costs more than budweiser or miller by the case.

Sorry I spelled it wrong yesterday - I should have looked at the case behind me.

I have never heard of it. Is it a light or dark brew? My DH will be anxious to give it a try!

They are in the Pittsburgh area but have started shipping their beer to other areas. Started getting it in Ohio maybe a year or so ago?

Eating Out Too Much

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Yesterday I picked up Murray and Jack, and we met John B. for lunch at Captain Jack's on the Anclote River. It was a fine lunch, and I only drank light beer. Today I followed yesterday's instructions, and called the doctor's office after 8:30 (actually at 8:45) and found out that I did in fact have an appointment today, at 8:40. I rushed down to Clearwater and got there at 9:20, only to be told that it was at the Countryside office, and they were still waiting for me. I got the the countryside office at 10:10 after driving 25 miles through city traffic. It took 80 minutes to make a drive that I normally do in 15 minutes. By the time I satisfied all the requirements for a surgery Monday it was 11:28, and I barely made it home in time to change and take the BW to the big luncheon at the Ozona Blue today, where I had crab chowder, a Po-boy, and two Yuenlings. We spent two hours at lunch and had a good time.

Unfortunately, I'm about two pounds above my leeway now, and the holiday season is upon us. I don't have the discipline of a lot of Spark people I see doing better, and I think most of my trouble is eating out too much.

Eating out is my downfall too. It's so hard to control portions or to eat a well-balanced meal. But sometimes when time is short, it's just easier to eat out.

It sounds like with all that racing around you passed the stress test of your exam with flying colors!

I am curious as to what a Yuenlings is also...and about the surgery. I hope you are OK.

Sunday, December 09, 2012

A Nimtim is in jail. Guard looks in his cell and sees him bhanging by his feet.
"Just WHAT are you doing? he asks.
"Hanging myself," the Nimtim replies.
"It should be around your neck," says the guard.
"I treid that," he replies, "but then I couldn't breathe."
