I love to dance! I like all styles of music and although I have little skill generally I just like to get out on the floor and have a blast. One of the best things about living in a "Three's Company" world is that both Tyler and Ross enjoy dancing. We go dancing at least once a week. We go to Hannah's for some good old fashion Rock and Roll, The Balcony for some disco, and occasionally the Buffalo Club for some pop DJ kind of dancing. On the recent weekend of Ross's 39th birthday we did a whole weekend of dancing. That's Rocci Johnson's hand pointing from the stage at Ross and all night she kept shouting "IT'S ROSS' BIRTHDAY!". You can see the back of my head and and Tyler to the left in the dark shirt with his hand up. And of course Ross there in the middle totally enjoying his moment in the spotlight. The three of us have such a great time dancing together, which is the only way that they are willing to go the the Balcony, we make it very clear that we are all there together so no boys try to pick them up hee hee. So anyway that is how we do . . . in our Three's Company world. And what gal wouldn't enjoy having two great looking dance partners every time she goes out on the floor?
Last weekend Tyler had a date so he left early in the afternoon. Ross and I watched Grand Torino and enjoyed the afternoon as we sat and visited for a couple hours. Then Ross went to play some tennis and I made plans to have dinner with my dad. My dad and I decided to meet at Applebees because it was sort of a central location. He was so cute, he showed up in a jacket and tie. He said it was a Saturday night and you just never know who you might meet so he thought he should look good just in case. The man is 86! He cracks me up with his constant pursuit of all these older ladies. We enjoyed our dinner and visiting and then he had to head home before it was too dark. Since the dinner was in Nampa and Ross was playing tennis nearby I decided to drop in and watch him play for a bit. I think he was pleased that I came by. I got there just as he was playing his last match of the tournament. As I watched from the gallery I remembered how much I used to enjoy tennis. Hmmm I may have to dig out the racquet. (SkinnySoon would be so proud).
As Ross and I walked out to the parking lot he asked where we should go dancing. Now this sort of caught me off guard. It was already almost 9 o'clock and we were almost an hour away from home. We have always gone dancing with the three of us. With the exception of Table Rock Hike #6 Ross and I have never done anything with just the two of us.
I totally jumped at the opportunity to check something off my bucket list. There is a cafe here in Boise that changes into a Salsa dance club on the weekends. I suggested that we could check it out. The only problem was that the free lesson is from 9-10 and it was already late. Ross says, no problem, he already knows how to Salsa, and he can teach me. Ross is from Venezuela and I have already seen him on the dance floor and know that he has those Latin moves so I knew we were going to have a great time. We drove home, Ross showered and changed, and looked amazing all pressed and shoes shined. He said he had to get dressed up in the latin way. . . and he smelled so nice!
It was such a blast. Ross was a great teacher and I really improved over the evening. My hips will never be as smooth as his but at least by the end of the night I wasn't counting anymore. We did SALSA, MERENGUE, BACHATA AND CUMBIA. Ross is not a fan of the Cumbia so we sat out a few. But very few. I completely enjoyed the Merengue. Mostly because he would hold me really tight and then say get ready we are going to go fast. And then he spun is so fast I was dizzy. Then he would slowly turn us the other direction and my head would clear. My feet were hurting and we were both a bit damp with sweat but we had a great time. I AM TOTALLY ADDICTED !
Ross was out of town for work this week but he called every night to tell me a different Latin artist to look up on the internet. Of course it is all in Spanish but it is still fun to hear the different styles and have him try to tell me the gist of the songs. I even did a little practice with some you tube videos.
So this is Friday, Ross got back in town yesterday and he has already asked me a couple times if I am ready to do some Salsa. I am not sure how this is going to play out. Because Tyler doesn't have a date tonight. And I don't think a skinny boy from Montana knows anything about Salsa. Such a dilemma, but I know it will all work out because I think that Ross had just as much fun as I did last week so he will figure it out. I can hardly wait to see what tonight brings.

Table Rock is a Boise landmark that everyone has noticed, occasionally people wonder about, and I love to hike. It was one of the first things I did when I decided several years ago to be an active person. It has always been a challenge and it has always been a beacon of what I could do.
I hiked it first with my friend Nadine who introduced me to SP, we did not make it to the top the first attempt but finally I could make it all the way up. About 4 miles round trip.
I have hiked it with my 20 something daughter. Which was funny and sad, funny because when we got to the top she indignantly put her hands on her hips and frowned saying, "Wait! there is a road up here?" It was also sad because she mentioned that it was great that we were doing this together and wished that we could have done stuff like this when she was a kid. . . . Sorry Baby . . .
I have hiked it with my SP friend Molly from MN who was in Boise for work. It was a blast to meet an on line friend in real life. Hopefully someday we will hike this hill together again.
I have hiked it with my sister and her 3 girls, it was summer, it was raining, I had to stop a lot, but we made it to the top.
TODAY I started my 2012 fitness challenge
The goal is to hike Table Rock 100 times this year
That means every Saturday with SP friends Rhoni and Jenn and perhaps other FB friends from church or friends from school
And at least once a week by myself
which will be truly a feat of self discipline and commitment

My roommates and I were talking about how basically 2011 was a horrible year for all of us. Tyler's Brother was killed in a car wreck, he lost his job and his wife divorced him and kept the house. Ross has a similar story except he still has his job, but he also has 2 kids that he is seeing a lot less of since he moved out. 2011 was a crushing year from start to finish, Jan 2 my mom died suddenly, the rest of the school year I barely limped through, the summer started off with the promise of new love which fizzled out, I gained 30 pounds in just those 8 months we were dating, and then it ended with an unexpected breakup the day before new years eve.
But the conversation was not as depressing as it sounds. We each told about how we want to change the direction our life was going and how we want to embrace everyday. We all want to be healthier, although Ross is pretty much a rock when it comes to his workouts but eats tons of crap. Tyler needs to gain some weight and some strength, and I need to drop a ton of weight, get out and get active again, and be done with the year of mourning that sucked out all my energy.
So we cleaned out all the junk from the cupboards, although Ross was unwilling to part with his sugary breakfast cereals LOL. We each picked something we wanted to try this year, not so much resolutions but more like goals. Ross wants to try base jumping off one of the huge bridges we have here in Idaho. Tyler wants to be able to climb every wall at the climbing gym he joined. I decided that I will hike to table rock 100 times this year. It is currently a feat for me to get to the top - about 2 hours round trip with many stops. I want to be able to do it in less than 1 hour and with no stops.
We also decided to do the Spring Sprint Triathlon, in April, as a team. Tyler will swim, I will ride, Ross will run. It should be fun to cheer each other on!
So here is to 2012 an making life FUN again.

Scorpio, 2012 is your year of reckoning! You worked yourself to the bone in 2011, and now you've hit a major impasse. You've got until October to continue experimenting with what you want out of life; after that, big decisions must be made. Saturn is about to take up residence in your constellation for the first time in nearly 30 years. This planet rules karma, time and integrity, so each of these will be key themes throughout the year. Your values will be tested during the last quarter of the year, so get all your ducks in a row by then to avoid the stress of Saturn's inquisition. The good news is that a weight is about to be lifted from your consciousness, and all the background melancholy you may have felt over the past few years should lighten up.
A major eclipse pattern takes hold of your stars in autumn 2012. November's total solar eclipse in Scorpio is sure to rock the very foundation of your life, so get ready for some major shifts in your relationships. Your life will definitely not be the same by the time 2013 rolls around. You're a butterfly and a phoenix - expect to shed some major skin this year.
This could also be one of the most socially driven years you've ever seen. With Mars activating your house of friendship and goals in the sign of Virgo, expect a majority of your energy to be engaged with a barrage of social situations. It's all for a good cause, however, and will translate into your bigger life goals; in fact, a good portion of the parties you attend will have some sort of work component behind them. And with glamorous Neptune moving back into your pleasure sector in February, life will suddenly become very art-house cinema for you.
Year 2012 Romantic
With Neptune returning to your romance sector for the next several years, your love life is about to take a poetic turn. A deep, soulful connection becomes the prerequisite for hooking up from now on! You won't settle for anything less than a soul-stirring union that inspires you to create art. Your lover becomes your muse, and vice versa.
The only caveat to this inspired transit is to avoid the blind delusion of Neptune. Although there's always some level of projection and idealizing when in love, that doesn't mean you have to fall blindly into a situation with potentially destructive partners. Keep your wits about you, and do your usual background check before giving your heart away. There's a feeling of destiny when Neptune is in the picture. The winds of fate can be very fickle, so keep yourself grounded.
With Saturn entering your constellation near your birthday, you'll be ready to go through a maturation process, regardless of your age. Saturn requires absolute integrity and commitment in all arenas of your life - especially relationships. This requires you to get very clear on where your line in the sand is, and what you will and will not put up with in relationships. There will be no more dragging anyone's heart around once Saturn enters the picture. You've been through enough losses over the past few years to understand that there's no point in getting even. It's time to relinquish the weight of the past and move bravely forward. This especially holds true in November, when the total solar eclipse in Scorpio accelerates fast-forward change!
Year 2012 Career
As long as Uranus continuing to exert its zany influence in your work sector, you'll continue to be pushed to new ground! You've been learning how to think outside the box over the past year, and now it's starting to become an entire way of working for you. You can translate this new genius into moneymaking opportunities by applying the discipline of Saturn as it arrives in your chart this October. If you've felt all over the map the past few years, you'll welcome Saturn's urgent influence as motivation to gain focus. Procrastination is soon to become a thing of the past for you.
You'll be feeling more ambitious than ever with the imminent influence of Saturn. It's one of those years when you'll constantly make bucket lists in terms of career goals and worldly ambition. What are you here to accomplish? These larger questions loom heavier than ever before. No more playing the passionate dilettante when it comes to your career. Your agenda is too large for that now.
With Mars exerting its pushy influence in your goal sector for the entire first half of 2012, you'll have a near-impossible time directing your energy anywhere besides working to manifest your dreams. You benefit by association with kindred spirits and could find yourself working in more group situations than usual; you may even be involved in teaching or performing for large groups. Friends will play a vital role in furthering your career goals this year, so never underestimate the power of who you know.
