So Sad

I just can't exercise today, or yesterday. My Dad's sick in the hospital in ICU, and I have been on the phone all day with my relatives, which was good, but I am feeling a bit numb and SAD and just can't bring myself to actually exercise. Today, is a good computer day.

This is life, sometimes you just have to put other obligations aside. It's not an excuse, it's just reality.

I am 2500 miles away from my parent's home and there's a major winter freeze there which has grounded a lot of planes at the airports. I sent my Dad some flowers to the hospital. My mom doesn't want me to get on a plane in the bad weather. I feel helpless, so here I sit. I am drinking water, I ate pizza today, but I am keeping the calories in my range. Some days, you just do what you can do. My heart is very heavy.

BUMMED... emoticon I hope tomorrow will be better news.

  I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues. Take a break for exercising and take care of the other things you need to do now for yourself and others.

    I am sorry your Dad is in hospital I will pray for him, My brother is in California we are in Pa. he has stage 4 cancer we want to be there all the time for him ,but we have our jobs, saw him in November.we keep in touch with face book & calling . hang in there the Lord is our Great Physician.

    I am so sorry you are going through this - I had a similar situation in September with my sister except I could see her every day since I live close by. It must be really hard to be so far away and to feel helpless. I hope things get better for your Dad and for you in the coming days - remember to take care of yourself (even if that means not exercising for a day or two). I will keep you all in my prayers.

Dear Me,

You are making good strides in changing not only the fact you are exercising, but also your mindset. Yesterday, you planned an exciting off road biking adventure with your husband and he loved it and so did you. Take advantage of your backyard of the Pacific Northwest and plan simple inexpensive adventures on bikes, hikes, or snowshoes. There is no excuse not to. Make some plans for this weekend and find something to do outside for a few hours. Get out of your rut, even your exercising rut and do something different and go somewhere different.

It's not just about exercising, losing weight, but completely changing your mindset. Change your mind and completely change your life.

Dear Me,

Things are going great!

You are making it a daily habit to log onto Sparkpeople. You are exercising before noon which is a complete miracle for you. What is really amazing is that you are balancing your nutrition and calories with food that does not appear to be rabbit diet food, which you were guilty of in the past. You are allowing your self a smaller sized dessert portion so that you are not missing out. The trick is not to let your husband serve you any dessert because it will be a dessert enough to satisfy 4-5 people! That's dangerous!

Keep up with the exercise and don't forget the strength training. It's a good start to do cardio with some light weights, but eventually you will have to increase those weights.

Prepare and plan for any trips you are making in the future. This is where you tend to fumble your diet and exercise plan. Be creative and try to bring Sparkpeople with you, whatever it takes. If you do this, you won't lose your momentum when you get back. You must do this and prepare NOW. Do not procrastinate until the last minute and you don't have a solid plan for your goals.

Keep up the good work you should be proud of yourself! I am! (hahahaha)


Writing a Letter to Myself

Dear Me,

You've done pretty good over the past few months not doing Sparkpeople. You did not gain a lot of weight (5 lbs) and you managed to be physically active without completely giving up. That's good! It's better than you have done previously, so that's a step in the right direction!

So now the plan is to possibly join a YMCA near by to help build and maintain a healthy lifestyle within the community. That would be very cool!

Work on drinking more water, and tracking your calories. Don't let that slip.

Intuitive Eating

Well, I am back to report on intuitive eating from yesterday. I did well. I only ate when hungry. I ate breakfast late (cereal & milk). Decided then to make lunch dinner instead. I ate out with my husband at IHOP. I love that place, but for the first time I looked at the calories per meal, and nearly fainted. I had a low cal meal of chicken with balsamic vingar dressing, a small salad, and broccoli and walked away completely satisfied from my meal at 440 calories!

Late at home after shopping I was real hungry and had 2 small pieces of California pizza with chicken, and a tiny helping of 1/2 cup of icecream.

Overall, it was a great day for eating, but I did not exercise due to a minor health condition that some medication took care of today, so I am back on track today with exercise!
