Today's choices

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I get daily motivational emails from http://www.brightmoment.com
Today's email is about making smart choices. You might find it useful.

Use every choice you make, as a tool to move your life ahead. Are the choices you make today aligned with your objectives and goals? Just because you have goals and objectives, doesn't mean that you automatically work towards them. Every moment of the day, you make choices about what you will or won't do, and each of these choices can take you closer or further away from your goals.

I liked that. Choices are what got me this way, and choices will take me back. emoticon

I agree with this. All those small choices really do add up! One little moment at a time! Is the brook a place where you walk? It's quite beautiful!

So true - I think about this every day. Right now I am applying it to food. Each meal and snack is a choice that is either leading me to a healthy lifestyle or away from one. I want to extend this thinking to time management around the house and other activities as well. I have put too much off for too long. Pretty babbling brook.

Walk on a new trail in Orford

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

My sister and I met a friend for our walk today. She showed us a new path we'd never been on in the Orford area. It was a delightful walk on a beautiful sunny day. Much easier than those mountains my sister had me climbing the last couple days! emoticon

Back to Mount Belleview

Monday, May 17, 2010

It was another beautiful sunny day, so we headed back to Mount Bellevue today.

Here are a couple photos taken from our walk on one of the trails in the woods. Some of the trails at Mount Bellevue are well developped because it's a ski resort in the Winter. But our favorite paths are less developped and in the woods.

What a blessing to have such beautiful paths to walk! All the trees reminds me of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Where I grew up. Thanks for sharing!

Be careful the first picture looks like the path I followed in the NC mountains. It was so full of rock that I slipped and fell flat my face. The path lead to a beautiful waterfalls! The only thing I hurt was my pride though emoticon! I know you are a better hiker than that though! This is a beautiful place that God hand crafted for us to see emoticon for taking us on the walk also!

I like these more rustic pictures - it feels more in tune with nature. Thank you for the answer to my question about the other trails.

Walk on Mount Belleview

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Today was a beautiful Spring day, ideal for a long walk in the woods. My sister and I headed for Mount Belleview, a small mountain (or large hill) we'd never climbed before. It's only 380 meters (1247 feet) high, but we got quite a workout as we spent 5 pleasant hours exploring the paths. Here are some photos from our walk.

This is part of the path we were walking on.

We climbed this hill to the top of Mount Belleview. I found it very steep!

Here is the view of Sherbrooke city from the top of Mount Belleview.

We are both grateful to God for the beautiful day He gave us!

This is a beautiful hike - they all are. This looks like it is in a more developed or paved area than you are usually on - is this more of a finished trail? And just think that if felt steep now - how would you faced it before. Thank God for the day, your recovering health and your trusty walking partner - your sister. Yo are indeed blessed.

Getting fitter

Friday, May 14, 2010

In spite of the foreboding sky, my sister and I went for a long walk at Blanchard Park. Except for a few droplets of rain here and there, the weather was ideal for walking, cool and with just a slight breeze.

I'm not sure how many kilometers we walked, about 7 or 8. I remember that when I first tried to walk there in March, I could not walk one kilometer. In fact, my sister had to go get the car and pick me up at an intersection because I couldn't make it back to the parking lot. I wheezed terribly as I walked and would sit on every park bench I could. My sister made me notice that today, I didn't even sit down once. Didn't need to. And I stopped wheezing a long time ago. It's encouraging! emoticon

This is a beautiful walk and it always is nice to have a walking buddy! You sound like me talking about walking into the hospital and getting to the office! I was all out of breath at one time, and now I wish the door was done the hall a little further! It is always wonderful to see this much difference in the way we feel! emoticon emoticon on your accomplishments. emoticon emoticon

I love your pictures. Doesn't it feel good to fill the progress by breathing right? We just got back from our walk and I noticed I was breathing better up the first little hill we do. Also, I am not so sore. The first 2 weeks my legs hurt so bad. Also we just walked a mile and a half in the time it was taking to do a mile when we first started.

We are doing it. Yeah! emoticon

And that is real measurable progress. You are gaining cardiovascular health and gaining fitness. What wonderful sisters you are and how kind that she noticed how much you have accomplished. And thank you again for the wonderful pictures - so serene and peaceful.
