When my sister lived in Fitch Bay, her house was at the foot of a mountain. For years, every morning (weather permitting), she would get up at 5 am in order to hike "her" mountain, (around 8 km), and get back in time to prepare breakfast and homeschool her 4 children.
So today, we were hiking on private land, where my sister has walked hundreds of times. She has since sold the house to her daughter and son-in-law. Today we stopped by to see them, and I got to see my new grand-nephew for the first time. (He's so cute and cuddly!) Of all the hiking I've done so far this year, I enjoyed today's hike the most. The weather was perfect, and it's such a beautiful place to hike! And my sister said it always brings back precious memories and is still one of her favorite places to hike.
I also got promoted today. My sister is a real hiker, but to be honest, I'm more of a wannabe. (You should hear her rendition of how I whine when we get lost in the woods! ) Well, today she said I was no longer just a wannabe, I've been promoted to "hiker in training".
One of the viewpoints from today's hike. (Breathtakingly beautiful!)
