Walk on Cherry River paths

Wednesday, May 05, 2010

My sister and I went back for a walk at the Cherry River swamps today. We are grateful to God for the beauty of His creation! Here are some photos from our walk:

Today's walk at Blanchard Park

Tuesday, May 04, 2010

I took a walk at Blanchard Park this afternoon after work. I'm still working only half time since my heart attack and taking advantage of the extra available time to get fit. The first few walks were so difficult! I could only walk a few hundred feet and would wheeze all the way. Now I can easily walk for several kilometers and breathe evenly. My doctor is very encouraged by my progress. I'll be seeing the cardiologist on Thursday, and am anxious to hear what he has to say.

Here is a photo of the lovely path I was walking on.

The path winds by a river.

It has quaint steps across brooks.

Wish you could smell this flower. It's SO fragrant!!!
I don't know what kind of flower/bush it is. If you know, could you please tell me.

It is a lovely walk - it reminds me of the C&O canal here in Washington DC next to the Potomac river. How great is it that you have made such wonderful progress with you health. I hope you get a good report from the cardiologist.

Walk before the storm

Sunday, May 02, 2010

The forecast for most of the week is rain and thunderstorms, starting later this afternoon. We sure were glad to get a walk in before the storm!

This is me taking a break beside the trail.

We walked by a whole tribe of squirrels. Can you see the three squirrels in this photo?

We got lost!

Saturday, May 01, 2010

One of my goals was to start hiking again. I had NOT planned for a 14 km hike today! When I realized that we had taken the wrong trail (because we were so busy yapping away rather than paying attention!), I panicked. We didn't even know if we were heading toward the car or away from it. My sister was enjoying herself because she's a lot more fit and adventuresome than I am. And she was right, we did make it back after our little adventure. But 14 km of hilly terrain was a bit much for this fat, out-of-shape 'ole lady! emoticon

Here are a couple photos from our hike.

My partner in crime, chief motivator, and sweetest little sister anyone could ever have!

One of the trails

Because it's Spring, we heard and saw little brooks gurgling down the mountain throughout the hike.

When all is said and done you can look back on it as a grand adventure. And you know now that you can do it so maybe it challenged you to push your limits. How nice is it for you to have that companionship and motivation from your sister. And that you are close enough to get caught up in talking - and that she motivates you. That is very lucky.

Love the pictures - your sister looks like a sweet heart.

Here's a photo my sister took during our lovely walk at a nature reserve this afternoon. It's great to have the sun shining again, after several days of cold, rainy weather!

I love this picture it is so peaceful! We have a park here in my town and it reminds me of the walk I use to take with my granddaughter! The walk way stretched around two ponds with ducks and geese always swimming or flying! She always loved to watch the birds.

Walks like this are good for our health and our relationships!!! Enjoy ! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My father loved to hear the ducks and geese fly overhead. Now that my parents are dead - when ever we hear geese we say it is grandma and grandpa coming in for a visit. I needed to be comforted tonight and your picture did it - thank you.
