The creepy old houseThursday, April 19, 2012
My sister and I are trying to take full advantage of the gorgeous weather we’re having. When my niece called us to join her for a walk on a trail where she likes to walk her dogs, off we were for a new adventure. ![]()

That really was creepy. I would definitely stay away from that place! But then, it would be scary enough to make me run, and that might be a good thing. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Sounds like a scary movie. I wonder if you will ever hear what happened. Good thing the dogs sensed something was wrong.

That sounds like a close call for your niece. I agree with the others, that it was good that the dogs sensed danger and went in the opposite direction. The story gave me a creepy feeling.

Dogs are really smart, aren't they? Wonder what did happen there? And you are out for ANOTHER walk - you are doing great! When I get past this darn test, I plan to be out walking again too. I'll be keeping you company. Well, at a distance of 3,000 km. :-) Irene in BC Report Inappropriate Comment |

omg. you brave souls. if there's a coyote in the vicinity my dog will bark and chase it away. more than one, she hides in the house and remains still and quiet. I take my cues from her. What an adventure. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Wow! What an adventure! So glad your niece didn't try to investigate any further. Probably a large predator got a kill of something and the dogs got a whiff of it and knew enough to scram. The house is in surprisingly good shape in spite of being derelict, no sagging roof or doors, etc. Its seems strange to have a house in the middle of nowhere.. Its a lovely trail, its so neat when moss grows on rocks and fallen trees. But walking in numbers is a good idea if the kids are using that place as a hang out with that graffiti there. Enjoy your hikes, but do stay safe! Report Inappropriate Comment |

That's scary! I'm with you... I think I'd be staying clear of that place too. Yikes! Thanks for sharing your pics. It looks like a beautiful hike. Creepy houses aside... Report Inappropriate Comment |

Another amazingly beautiful, sunny Spring day! After work this morning, my sister and I headed back to the 5.5 km Three-Pond Trail. We had enjoyed it so very much last time we walked there. There are advantages to only working part-time (24 hrs/week). (The other side of the coin is the size of the paycheck.)
I need to correct something that I wrote on a previous blog. Orford is a national park, not a provincial park.
This lovely brook is at trail's entrance.
The trail will look entirely different once the trees get their leaves.
We walked by this big porcupine who was snacking on leaves.

WOW!! Great photos!! Fabulous you were able to get a shot of a porcupine!! We have seen evidence of one all around the trails we walk, but have not spotted the normally elusive shy critters!! Some lucky person did see it here and it was posted on the weather channel. That so awesome you get this wonderful time with your sister! Report Inappropriate Comment |
