My friend Ariel just sent me the description of her yoga retreat in COSTA RICA in FEBRUARY!
Come Heck or High Water, I am going to make it to Costa Rica if I have to hitch-hike and sleep in the broom closet!!!

Okay, So I had my first official Plunge from the wagon last week, and yeah, I can list all the excuses I want...I was sick with a sinus/ear infection, I had company, I went off my appetite suppressant...but you know what? All of those excuses start with the same word, the only one to blame.
Yes, I was sick, so I didn't go to Zumba. But you know what? I still could've done yoga at home. NO EXCUSE.
Yes, I had company, and we had a FABULOUS TIME, but he would've understood my need to take a walk. In fact, he would've joined me. I could've limited my portions when we ate, but I didn't. NO EXCUSE.
Yes, I had a MAJOR med change. The appetite suppressant I had been on since June has finished. I'm getting cravings. But I've had time to learn tricks to combat those cravings and keep my portions low. I simply CHOSE not to use them. NO EXCUSE.
My setbacks this week were caused by my own poor choices, not anything else. Choosing poorly is never an excuse, and in my case, caused me to gain 3 lbs in a WEEK! NOOOOO!!!!!
No more Excuses, no more poor choices, no more Miss Nice Girl.

Things that I relish when other people groan, and why...
~Adding a notch to my belt, because it means the belt is getting too big, and I couldn't wear the belt at all last May.
~Cleaning clothes out that don't fit me, because they are too BIG for me, not too small!
~When people don't recognize me, its because I do look different than I did 30 lbs ago!
~Walking for a cause, because now I can!
~SHOPPING, because its easier to find clothes that fit me, in styles I like, that are appropriate for my age, and that I can afford.
~Walking my dog, because my BASSET HOUND used to walk ME, and now its the other way around, the way its SUPPOSED TO BE.
~Taking the stairs, because it used to hurt my knees and make me short of breath, now I do it because its good exercise and I'm still terrified of escalators and crowded elevators.
~FULL length mirrors, because I am not afraid of them anymore!
~Having my picture taken, because it was like putting a mirror up in front of me, it was something I didn't want to face, a record of my lack of willpower. And as a PTA, a record of my hypocrisy. (Do as I say, not as I do...)

I did the Dungeness Valley Free Clinic Fun Walk this morning, and finished the 5 mile course (with hills) in 1 hour, 26 minutes! That averages out to about 17 minutes a mile....wow! I couldn't have done THAT last May! Plus, I walked there and back, since its so close to home, and joined in for a little Zumba action when I got to the start.
They also had a little health screening area there, so I had my blood sugar and blood pressure taken. My blood pressure was 120/75, and my blood sugars were 114! Much better than they had been last spring! Losing 30 lbs does that, I guess!
I also got to wear my new workout gear...size LARGE pants and t-shirt! I also brought my new water pack, which is a fanny pack with holsters for 2-16 oz water bottles, and boy did I use them!
Ah....a lil nap, get cleaned up, and its off to see a couple patients for make-up treatments! Yeehaw!

* I hit 28 lbs lost!! Down to 172.4!
* Had to do some shopping for new pants...almost lost em at work WITH THE BELT ON THE 4TH NOTCH!
*Bought size 14 and a 12!!!!!! I haven't been in a 12 since JUNIOR HIGH!!! (I liked them baggy in high school.)
* Had to go down to a size LARGE top because my boobs feel out of the neckline on the XL I used to buy!!
*Got an e-mail from my Mom. Her exact Quote "You are AWESOME! I am very proud of you for having the will power that you have, especially seeing the exercise routine that you do!"
*Performed up to 2 hours of YOGA a day while I was on vacation and stuck to my calorie intake, I think...I wasn't doing the cooking! Am staying in contact with the yoga instructor from my trip, she is such a fabulous resource and so Inspiring!
*Signed up for the Free Clinic Fun Walk for 5 miles...Should be cake after the Relay for Life...
