A first..

Not for me, for someone else. I had my favorite kind of massage client tonight. Someone who has never had a massage before. I love those because it's my chance to show them what they've been missing, and most times, they end up at least a semi-regular client. I am a big believer in the health benefits of massage, and I love educating people about why they should get massages, along with giving them the relaxation and benefit of the massage itself.
Tonight's client was so happy after the massage, and said they'd like to start getting massages every other week. :) YAY! Another convert!

A healthy, calorie-free cookie for you if you can name the movie my title was from.

So anyway, I did my 5k this morning, and OMGosh it ROCKED! So much fun! And I did better than I thought I would. I went with my partner/best buddy and our friend Frank, who owns the company that created and hosts our website. Mike (partner) is an experienced runner, and I knew we wouldn't even see him once the run started, but Frank is like me...not a regular runner, just wanted to see if he could do it (actually, he told me the only reason he actually showed up was because everyone said he wouldn' we had no intention of running the whole thing...but we figured we could do a little running, and a lot of walking....and make it in about an hour..maybe a little less. We ran more than I thought we would, even though it was really hilly, and my time ended up 46:40. I'll take it!!!! Considering I'm 48 years old and havent even tried to do an event like this in 6 years...yep..I'll take it! I actually beat Frank's time by 5 seconds, but that's because Mike was standing near the finish and Frank veered to the side to high 5 him and I just went straight for the finish line (we were determined to run the end, and I just wanted to be DONE!) I am so darn proud of myself, and now..I think I've caught that darn bug again, because I can't wait to do it again. There's a night time run(through a huge county display of Christmas lights!) on November's an 8k...we are SO there.

BTW, I don't think I've mentioned this before..but this seems like a good time. The business that Mike and I co-own? It's name is Strength & Spirit.

Oh..and if you can't guess the movie from the title? Don't feel bad, I don't have any cookies anyway. :)

I'm 67 and thinking of taking part in a 5K walk. They do have them, I hope. I'm up to 2 1/2 miles 6 days a week. Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself. I'm proud of you too!!! emoticon

13 hours away!

Saturday, October 08, 2011

Still a little stressed about the race tomorrow, but really looking forward to it too. Going to try to go to bed early tonight, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to sleep, because I'm going to be thinking about tomorrow. I looooove the atmosphere of races, the energy, the feeling of being part of something fun and healthy. In the past few years, my presence at them has been strictly to offer massages to the runners, or in a few cases just to cheer the partner on. Tomorrow is going to be different because I'll be going across that start line...and eventually finish line..myself. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! The really cool part is that my family will be there to cheer me on. First time my boys have been at event like I'm pretty happy they'll be exposed to the race day energy. The finish line is the 50 yard line of the Big House(University of Michigan Football Stadium) and I'm sure the kids will be excited to be there too.

Had a great, relaxed day today. Partner dude and I took a nice easy walk this morning, then went to the park and played this afternoon. Such a gorgeous day! We took some hoops and a frisbee...and had more fun than it really should have been. I'm glad today was mellow, it gave me a chance to relax before tomorrow.

roughly 13 hours til start time. I can't wait!

Sunday morning, for the first time in 6 years, I'm running in a race! EEEEEEEEEK! I'm 48 years old, what am I thinking? I'm starting to panic a little. I don't think I can run the whole thing(which is okay) but I'd like to at least run part of it without making a fool of myself. Here's hoping!

It's only a my goal is to...well....finish the same day I start. LOL!

Gorgeous day

Wednesday, October 05, 2011

Just a beautiful day, and it's supposed to stay this way at least through the weekend. YAY! Spent the afternoon/evening doing chair massage at the farmer's market. I LOVE that place. We have so much fun, we get regular customers, and just have a blast. It's over at the end of the month, and I think I'm really going to miss it when it's done.

I'm really excited because I think I have my halloween costume idea. I was trying to figure out a way to make my hula hoop a part of my costume and my friend from the Chamber of Commerce suggested I do a 1950s costume. I can't wait! :)
