On Superbowl Sunday, my business partner, the personal training half of our company, posted a long rant on FB about the stupid commercial for Reebok fitness shoes. They had one of the Kardashian girls saying she was going to fire her trainer, because she didn't need him now that she had those stupid shoes.
As much as I don't like to admit this sort of thing in front of him, my partner was, of course, right about those shoes. Reebok found that out the hard way last week, when they found themselves paying out $25 million because they made false claims about what the shoes could do.
Yet another example of there not being easy answers. Shoes won't do it for you, pills won't do it for you, gimmicks won't do it. You have to do the workouts and change the eating habits or you won't get in shape.
The things that are toughest to do, are the ones most worth doing.

The business partner/best buddy and I went for a hike in the woods. We saw 3 deer, got lost and just generally had a blast. It ended up being a longer hike than we'd planned, thanks to the getting lost part, but it was a gorgeous fall day, and it was so pretty out there, it wasn't bad at all.
Not bad for a Monday afternoon :)

Aside from almost freezing to death yesterday morning at the race I was massaging at, it was a near perfect weekend, weather-wise. Even with the almost freezing to death at the race, it was a near perfect weekend, activity-wise. The race was a blast, saw lots of people we knew, and my partner finished 9th in his age group. My youngest's birthday yesterday was awesome, and he was one happy little boy, and today was just great. We went out to lunch and walked around town to see the scarecrows displayed as as a fundraiser(one of them was ours, for our business) and then we took the boys to ToysRus to pick out a few things. They were happy...we were happy. I also got a seriously cool Captain America shield/frisbee....LOL.
Dinner was a sparkpeople recipe crustless quiche and it was a HUGE hit...the kids even liked it, and then the partner came over and we went for a walk. Such a gorgeous night for it!
I am completely content right now :)

Who would have thought that massage therapists would have busy seasons? Summer was really slow for me, which was kind of nice because my kids were home, and I got to spend a lot of time being a mommy. Now things are starting to heat up in a BIG way, and I'm getting TIRED! There are times, like tonight, that I seriously consider counting my work as a workout. I spent my evening at a local middle school fundraiser, doing chair massage for parents, and I honestly didn't stop moving for the entire couple hours we were there. And guess...just guess....where I'll be tomorrow morning from about 8:00 to at least noon. Yep! Doing more chair massage. Me, one other massage therapist....and about 1100 runners. I'm scared...lol.
On the bright side, I've got to be burning calories, and while I'm working, there's no way on earth I can even think about eating...LOL.
Tomorrow is also my sweet youngest son's 8th birthday. I feel bad that I'm going to be spending half of it working, but I guess that's the price of having my own business. I have to work when there's work to be had. Sweet little almost 8 year old vomited tonight (of course, why wouldn't he get sick just in time for his birthday?) so I'm praying he feels better in the morning. I'm fairly sure it was just a little too much excitement and sugar already...so here's hoping I'm right. Since it's his birthday...after the busy morning out n the cold, we get to spend our afternoon at (yippee) Chuck E Cheese..or as I prefer to call it "The House of Rat". All in all, I think I may prefer the cold race course.
Oh well, at least they have a surprisingly decent salad bar.

First of all, let me say that I remember why I go out on Saturday nights so very rarely, and why I so rarely go to bars at all. They're just SCARY! OMGosh....I felt so very out of place. When my friend and I first walked in, I looked around and said 'I'm pretty sure I'm the oldest person here." Then later, a couple showed up that had to be around my age, and they looked so pathetic and out of place...then I realized...I must look that pathetic and out of place too. YIKES! It was nice to see my friend, who I rarely get to spend time with because we both have kids and jobs and other responsibilities, but we both agreed that we'd have been better off going out for coffee. The bar was noisy, and crowded, and I forgot just how much I don't enjoy them.
But I think that's why I go out every so often...to remind myself why I don't do it more often.
Anyway, I got home about 12:30 (I'm tellin ya, party animals we are) and stayed up til at least 2:00, so I slept in til 8:00 this morning. Got up, had a little breakfast, then went for a nice long walk. What a gorgeous day for it!
This afternoon, we took the boys to the park, and I did a little cooking. Had a really nice day.
My best buddy/business partner came back after being out of town for a couple days too..so it was really nice to see him :)
Loving the awesome weather we've been having too. Trying to appreciate it while I can, because I know the sunny days are numbered!
