Working on getting back my holiday spirit. Little by little, I'm feeling better about Christmas, but it's still hard, because my oldest child, my only daughter, won't be able to come here for Christmas at all. She has to work Christmas eve, and the morning after Christmas, and she's eating dinner with her boyfriend's family, so there's just no way she'll make the 3 hour trip over here. :(
On the bright side, my mom and brother will be coming, as will my oldest son, so there should be enough people to keep my little boys from being too sad about their sister and nieces. Also, things are getting done, and I'm having more fun than I expected.

Christmas that is. I'm so sick of the whole thing. I still have shopping to do, and not enough money to do it. I miss my daughter, this is the first time she's not been here with us the week before Christmas. I know it's because she has to work, and I'm proud of her for doing what needs to be done, but I miss her...and my grandbabies, and it's sooo much easier to get things done when she's here helping. I'm so sad about what happened in CT, and I can't stop thinking about it. I'm just so tired of trying to be in a Christmas mood. And the capper....the straw that broke the camel's back...my dogs (the big dogs, it wasn't even the new puppy) knocked our tree over when we were gone today and broke ornaments that meant a lot to me. I ended up packing up the rest of the ornaments and taking the tree down....I just can't deal with it anymore. This sucks.

We got a new puppy! He's a 9 week old German Shepherd/Mastiff mix, named Thor and he's so darn cute I can hardly stand it. A friend who helps run a rescue contacted me tonight and asked if we'd like to foster him...with the idea that we'd keep him. He's here, and we couldn't be happier. :)

Tomorrow is World Hoop Day, and I'll be traveling, with a friend, to the other side of the state to participate in a celebration. I'll be attending hooping workshops, participating in a huge Hoop Jam, and watching the state premiere of a documentary called The Hooping Life. Best of all, I'll be seeing some of my fellow hoopers that I don't get to see NEARLY enough. Of all the things that a simple plastic circle has brought to my life, I'm most grateful for the people. The hoopers I've met are such a beautiful, talented, wonderful bunch of people, I feel honored to be among them!

Never left the house, other than the 5 mile run we took this morning. Made a crockpot full of split pea soup. Baked a pie (and didn't eat any!) Put up the Christmas tree, and just generally had a nice, relaxed Sunday. It's been exactly what I needed!
