Cookie, Cookie, Who Ate the Cookie?

Monday, September 20, 2010

Or was that cookies? Paradise Bakery has these little cookies called Chippers. I had a salad and ordered a bag of 6 Chippers. I ate 4 of them. I don't think anyone else ate one this time. They are small but still....I should know better. I will have to have a rule not to buy the Chippers anymore. Last time there were 4 of us, the bag was short one so I only had one extra which I ate later. So that made a total of 2 that I ate the last time. This time I ate 4. They are just little bite-size cookies. Oh, dear, I am making excuses for myself.

I don't go to Paradise Bakery often but when I do go I will ask for a sample of a Chipper and not buy a bag of them. That's the plan and I'm stickin' to it!

Unless, of course, I don't even want a Chipper. Then I will not eat even one Chipper.

You know, I'm off to make some cookies this afternoon - not very good at it, but I'm learning! Problem is, the batch goes so quickly - and I'm the only one who eats them!

Have a laugh!!!!
Last week I made 40 Diabetic cookies. I do get annoyed when they are broken in half and left in the tin.
But to cap it all. he took a frozen one to the shower this week to have something to chew while showering . Now I have heard it all.
So yesterday 7 days after the last lot I made another 40. because I do like to eat a cookie to

Adios Pound # 64!

Saturday, September 18, 2010

I'm down another pound this morning. Tomorrow I will weigh in for the Lose 10 by 10/10/10 Team. Hope it's still gone tomorrow. I think it will be. I exercised this morning and I am watching my portions sizes and tracking what I eat.

It helps being on the Lose 10 by 10/10/10 Team because normally I took the weekend as a license to veer off eating healthy and allow myself a little treat!!!! But since our weigh in is Sunday it helps me stay the course through the weekend as well as the week when sticking to a plan is easier. (Don't get me wrong. I treat myself during the week to a 1/3 serving of dark chocolate, a fruit smoothie, and this week even had a glass of wine but I track it and don't let it get out of hand like I used to do.)

I am so looking forward to buying size 14 pants. I have made it into size L shirts. I tried on a pair of size 14 pants and they fit but I didn't buy them...yet. I don't know if it was just a flukey pair of pants or that I really am in size 14 but my size 16s are getting roomier. I really found some flattering size 16 pants, too, so I will miss them but it will be nice to be in size 14 so I won't mind.

SparkPeople Things I'm Using to Stay Motivated

Friday, September 17, 2010

1. I'm tracking my exercise. Today is Day 37 of a personal exercise streak. I started back exercising after getting back from vacation (where I did exercise) and vegging out for a few weeks and now I can't stop!!!! (I always need a vacation from a vacation!)

2. I joined the Lose 10 by 10/10/10 Team. I don't think I'll be able to lose 10 by then but I'll lose some. I've lost 3 lbs. so far since starting. Why is 10/10/10 sneaking up so fast!

3. I joined the 28 Day Boot Camp Team. I am on day 3 of that. I do my usual cardio and then add Coach Nicole videos.

4. By leaving messages for others to motivate them I also am motivating myself.

5. I track my food in a journal rather than on SparkPeople. It's just easier for me that way and helps me unwind before bed if I write. I write about challenges, goals met, goals still to meet, feelings, etc. I used to track religiously on SP and I know that helps me continue to lose and improve my health.

6. I go through the SparkPoints list and get as many points as I can in a day depending on how much time I have. I took a hiatus but I am back to earning points and I think it helps me stay motivated as I read blogs, health articles, SP articles, etc.

7. I write blogs to earn points but I think it also helps me put things in perspective. Portfolios used to be big in education. They help see the growth a child has made throughout the year. I have my students journal most days. It really shows growth from the beginning of the year to the end. When I think back to the blogs I wrote when I started on SP when I was 63 lbs. heavier I think to myself, "What a long way I have come." I have a long way to go but my past success encourages me to continue on because I can look forward to feeling better, buying a smaller size, and having more energy.

8. Now if there was just something I could do about my hair!!!

Sounds like you have a great plan to me. Keep up the good work!

Funny, that you should mention hair. Since I joined Sp, I have let my hair grow and keep it in a pony-tail. Between the hot-flashes, and exercise, I can't do a thing with it! emoticon

How about this...after we reach our weight loss goal, we treat ourselves to a cute new hair-do! We certainly will have earned it!! emoticon emoticon

Excellent way to stay motivated! Especially number 4. Not much motivates me more than to motivate others! That's really wonderful you feel that way!

A Reminder to Pray for Our Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan

Thursday, September 16, 2010

A student I once had but is now in Jr. High stopped by to help in my classroom. Her dad will be home from Iraq in 15 days. He had also been in Afghanistan. He's been there since last Sept. He got to come home for 4 days last Thanksgiving and a week during spring break.

I had no idea! I would've been sending him care packages! I organized our school to send packages to the father of another student a while back. He didn't want anything for himself. He asked us to send hard candy and school supplies for the children he came in contact with.

It is so easy to forget that our soldiers are over in Iraq and Afghanistan and other places around the world.

Please pray for them.

I do. My son just returned home from Iraq after serving 3 tours. We are so blessed to have him back on this soil.

As we send out the care packages, let's not forget the baby-wipes...they never seem to have enough of those! emoticon emoticon

Thank You, God!

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

How often do we thank God for SparkPeople and for helping us reach our goals?
I do know I have prayed for years for help with my food addiction and less than healthy lifestyle (not being active enough).

I know that God always answers our prayers. He might say no. He might not answer right away. He might be giving us time to figure things out before he answers. There are many reasons why we might not see the results of our prayers instantaneously but eventually they are answered.

I could not be doing this without God. He is always by my side. (As well as Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the angels and saints, and especially Mary.)

Without faith I could not be on this journey because it is a tough one.
