A warm memory- 3 My favourite place to live in the whole wide world..

Tolaga bay
I spent alot of time alone on this beach with our family dog Tessa and spent every moment I could out with dad fishing..

When we moved back to Papakura, my mother gave Tessa away not thinking it would drive me and her apart.. That was one ugyly side of my mother when she got tired of her pet projects I never liked..

My childhood weekends were spent many hours out on my dad and his 2 friends home designed and built boats.. My dads friends loved dads boat for long distance trips because if it broke down they could fix it in the comfort of the cabin as has a ford car motor in it lol.. Outboard motors are a pain in the rear especially if it is stormy or raining....

Also met up with other boating friends dad have through being a member of the coast guard.. My dad knew the waters around New Zealand like the back of his hand.. He was often asked to help find missing boaters..

I miss the seafood from New Zealand.. Cold water fish don't taste like pacific ocean fish at all..

I have been a expat from New Zealand since 1992.. I have only been home to bury my dad and say good bye to other people that matter.. Only my dad knew I was never coming back- thanks to my mothers side of the family..

A warm memory- If you can't play in your own backyard..

Wednesday, March 07, 2012

My grandmother could use hours in her garden and come in happy and content with her life..

My dad could disappear for hours into his world of trains and return with a happy smile on his face..

My husband coud use hours in his forest and around our home and return with a content and happy smile even without a job and ask how my day was..

My youngest son returns home from a active holiday and smiles content saying had a great time mom!
Life here and now is good even doing small things that warm our hearts..

Remember to switch off work mode and enjoy life.. Money is not everything or does it keep a marriage together striving efter more and better.. The best things in life you can't actually buy for example good health..

Without good health you don't have energy to do much else...

So true. Especially with my son's illness I realize that we need to count the blessings we have.

If I have things to do that I don't feel like doing I say my little motto which is similar to yours: 'If you want to have a good day, get the (what ever it is) out of the way.'

Funny memories.. 1 My meeting with a danish wedding dinner..

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

My husband has always had a good humour- in denmark people called it black humour..

Our wedding went smoothly and quiet..

Robby, my mom in law and 2 witnesses..

Next day we were invited to a church dinner to celebrate us..

I dressed up nicely nothing fancy and then someone turned up with a motorbike suit- I was told to put it on.. While doing so a bus with 40 memebers of my husbands church family turned up..
The driver dressed in a waiters suit and high hat..

I was helped up on to the motorbike.. We zoomed out to collect my dear mother in law ahead of the others. When they got there, she was carefully herded up into the bus and we took off at high speed to the dinner venue..

The more I screamed the faster he drove- I was hanging on tight not not because he was a hunk but because I was frightened..

My husband had teased his friends, something about a goat in a honey moon car, hams in shopping baskets and and a trip from denmark to sweden and home and hubby doing alot of farting in a small CV car..

The trip home I thought would be quiet, until I spotted the box on the back seat and it started to honk like geese.. To my horror 2 geese in a box in a tiny car.. We had a flat tyre on the way home and I had to hold the lid down so these to angry geese didn't get their heads out of the box..

It was not the wedding I wanted- but I remember every detail like it happened yesterday. And all the devilish smiles on the priests and ministers faces my husband had the joy of teasing to their weddings- School mates are terrible if you get them together..

My husband at children camp.. It was a hoot what he would say...
