Lake Pleasant

Monday, August 17, 2009

Went out to Lake Pleasant yesterday. I snorkeled and swam for maybe 4 hours. The day was beautiful and warm. The sun shone on the water like droplets of rain. It was radiant. The boats coming in and out of the harbor were loud and beautiful. Jet skiers out there on the waves, boats gliding effortlessly. Music playing softly. As I snorkeled somewhat like a quiet bullet through the water I saw little schools of fish and rocks of all sizes. This was a wonderful way to welcome in the new week. emoticon

DAILY

Friday, August 07, 2009

Today, I walked in the neighborhood near the mountain. It was a mental break and I will be on my feet all day at work. It was a beautiful day, and thank you to everyone who has been reading my blogs. I did help fetch - I thought - a little cocker spaniel. Enjoy every day and moment for what it has to offer.

Lookout Mountain III

Thursday, August 06, 2009

Hello again. Today I set out at about 7:47, so it was earlier again. It was cloudy outside and looked wonderful for a day on the mountain. I parked and walked along the concrete and noticed it sprinkling a bit. That is perfect---- a little harder now----oh yahhhh! As I got closer to the park entrance, a gentleman was walking down and back, saying it "was liquid sunshine". Like maybe the rain detered his motivation. I thought to myself, the drops are here and there, and even if I get drenched, it will be well worth it. I set out, and along the way, found different -tributary-paths which would still lead me back to trail "308". I noticed more in front of me today. Birds in groups of 3 talking to each other as they were looking for food. 2 birds walking across the path in front of me. I knew their name, now I don't remember it. But they had a little tuft of feathers on the top of their head. There were some beautiful barrel cactus which I had not noticed before. The air was very still with the sun peaking in and out of the clouds above. As I walked closer to the close of the mountain hike, I noticed how already my body felt so relaxed this time. I was not out of breath as I was yesterday, so maybe a good sign that I can push it more tomorrow. Keep pushing:)!! emoticon

Oh to live in an area with mountains...
Thanks so much for sharing this. I've been having trouble getting motivated to exercise. It's more interesting to get outside, but I don't do well in the heat (not that it has been in the 90's in Chicago). Maybe I'll try to get out and walk around the nearby park tomorrow morning when the kids are off to summer camp. It's certainly not a mountain, but it's a start.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN II

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

Today, with great anticipation and knowing I can do it, I set out to Lookout Mountain again. It was an hour later, a little warmer- actually about 98. I had my liter of water and gazed at her. I see the higher ground, or summit trail up ahead of me. I decided I need to do the circumference trail for now. I will get in 2.2 miles on this and see a whole 360 view of the area. I start out going west, then curving around south. Some of the posts are marked better than others. I drank water when I was not thirsty, and kept going. The houses were beneath me. It was interesting to play a game with myself and think about the people who lived in those homes. Some had beautiful pools, some nice sitting areas. This was like window shopping; but it was instead" house shopping." As I came around to the north side, I went down a trail which lead to a park of some kind. I sort of knew on my way, this was not a part of the "308" trail. It was a quiet respite complete with drinking fountain and restrooms. It was shaded and had tables which were shaded from the glaring sun. I started out on my trek again winding up north and around to the west again to 16th St. I noticed some rock on this north/east area containing alot of black in it. I wondered if this was once a volcano. I saw lizards, and birds too. All this with the beautiful cactus which I love. What a wonderful way to start my day. I was so far away, but in the city- WOW:) I will see her again tomorrow. emoticon

Lookout Mountain

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

I went on my morning walk. First off, I have been contemplating doing Lookout Mountain. Today, I was doing my walk and finally went to the street where the entrance is to the mountain. I circled once on the pavement, then twice, and then looked straight in the mountain's eye------and said-----I am taking you on! And I did. I didn't go to the summit trail, but rather the circumferance trail. I walked nearly half way around, and then came back. What a great feeling! Along the way, I almost stopped before I should have. I kept looking ahead, and seeing another summit. I suppose that is how life is, there is always another summit. Keep finding that next summit in life! Hope you have a great summit fulfilled day. emoticon emoticon

Absolutely fabulous. Pretty soon, you will be running around, then up, then up and down . . . . I could go on, but you get the picture.

Congrats on that accomplishment.

Here's to the next summit.
