Yes, I am wearing a belt for the first time in I can't remember how many years.
I could not only never find belts in my size, nor did I want to wear them to show off my waist size. But here I am showing it off.
I took this picture today in my office bathroom as I don't have a full length mirror at home. The belt buckle is H for Hermes. I actually had to put it to the next hole tighter this morning when I put it on. Happy dance!
When I bought it, I thought no way would it fit me, not only did I like it, I bought a brown LV one too.
I used to hide under bulky sweaters, and I had lots of blazers to cover up. But no more.
I have also cleaned out my closet of old size 16,18,20 -1x,2x,3x clothes. I cannot believe how much I was hanging onto in all these sizes. Or have any idea how much money I spent on clothes, just to hide myself, try to look good and it was pretty much all in BLACK!
No more I say, purge, purge, purge. Nothing left just in case either.
I even have to purge my shoes as they are too big/wide now.
But I don't feel bad about having to buy a whole new wardrobe.

Today was Ladies day at Golftown, where they close the store after hours and only Ladies can shop with special prizes and discounts.
Of course I went. I need all new golf apparal. I bought a golf skirt in April and a couple shirts when in Asia, but nothing else fits (too big!!), so I had a great excuse.
While waiting for the store to close and then open, I went to Winners (like Marshalls) as I am stil searching for the elusive black capri pants. No luck, but I did find a sexy Kenneth Cole black skirt ($38), and 2 skirts size 12 ($19 &$24). I actually looked in the mirror and thought wow I look great in these. I took a moment to really look at myself and feel proud of what I have accomplished.
I cleaned out my closets "finally" as I hadn't done that last July 2010 when I left for China for 10 months as I was too afraid I wouldn't be able to keep it up. Not only did I keep it up , I lost 20 more pounds over there. Even though I shopped and had clothes custom made in China, still need a wardrobe.
So back to me in the dressing room. I loved the way they looked and my legs looked great. Sorry I didn't take a picture and no full length mirrors at home.
Next over to Golftown now. I used to buy whatever was in size 18 or usually 20 and was just happy to find any golf wear in plus sizes. Now I had such variety and choice. I figured out I like Nike, Cutter & Buck and Adidas the best. So many items on the discount rack for $20 each in size 12 or Large, I tried lots on. I could choose what I like and looked good instead of whatever fit. I found 1 shirt, 1 skirt and 2 sweaters, then some shoes. Yes my shoe size has changed too. Bummer as I still have 1 new and 2 almost new golf shoes from last couple years. I thought shoes were an investment, which they are, but never thought I would have to downsize. But in golf the last thing you want is to have loose fitting shoes. So on sale for $50 Footjoy (dryjoys).
A very good day for me, maybe not for my bank account, but it's a small price to pay for looking good and feeling good......having to buy new clothes, and GOLFwear! Too bad the clubs still fit!

It has been ages since I was able to schedule a session with my trainer. I am back from China where I was working for 10 months and lost 20 more pounds from the initial 55 that I lost on Spark and then maintained (Feb-July with Spark). I had a gym in my building where I was living in China so I did work out, but not as vigorously as I do when I have a trainer show me a routine.
I went to the gym last night with a new trainer and it was hard work. I was sweating 5 minutes into it. The forward lunges with 15lb dumbells was a killer, 3x accross the room, and then she added a bicep curl for 3 more times. Then side lunges. My quads were burning, but it felt good! I realized I hadn't been working hard at working out for awhile.
So while I am sore today walking down stairs, I feel great for working out. And can't wait for my next workout, but have to let the muscles rest (they need it).
I am going to update my goal to lose 20more pounds , but more to lose my muffin top and tighten my butt and gluts and just be more toned. Down 2 more pant sizes as well (depending on the make). I bought some new workout pants, I don't know what they are called, but yoga pant like but only just past the knee, they look so cute, never thought I would look cute in workout pants! I am starting to look like the others I looked at in the gym and wanted to look like.

I joined spark on Feb 1, 2010 (my birthday) and now 1 year later..........I am so happy to share that I am down 75 lbs. I did it with Sparkpeople. Everyone asks me how did I do it. I am sorry I haven't kept blogging but I have been away (living in China since July of last year). The internet is slow and some sites are actually blocked. I started a separate blog to share my China adventures with friends and keep up on facebook too. So keeping up on Spark just fell by the wayside, but I didn't stop what I had learned.
Anyway, I had lost 55 lbs when I left for China. I did it exactly the way you are supposed to. I changed my eating habits, made smarter choices, worked out with weights at the gym and walked. I didn't cheat as I saw myself losing 2lbs a week, every week. That was encouragment. Then after a short time I was down a pant size. That was GREAT! I kept at it and kept going. I never starved myself as I love food, but I stayed within my calorie limit and I am not a cook. I would buy premade/precut food and kept changing until I found things I liked and would work for me. My family hadn't seen me so after 3 months I visited and it was another WOW. I rewarded myself for progress, but not with food. Then I had an amazing opportunity come up, to go to China for work for a 6 month and now a 10 month assignment. I jumped at it. I blogged about my concern if I could maintain the weight lost without being able to track my calories food intake as easily (really at all because I cannot read chinese labels and eat out every day). But not only did I stick with it, I lost 20 more by not going overboard and continuing to work out and walking lots! So I lost 55 lbs by July when I left for China. And now I have lost total of 75 total.
I am so comfortable in who I am, how I look (well I do see more wrinkles now that my face isn't so full). It's a good thing as in China I get stared out because of my red hair and freckles and white skin. Young and old just stare at me and some want to have their picture taken with a foreigner because they have never seen one. I am the smallest size I have been in years, but even then I cannot really shop for clothes here in China as they are so much smaller. I take and XXL or XXXL if they have it here but back in Canada size 12 or large. So I have clothes custom made here in China which is still very inexpensive and they are beautiful.
One of the reasons I started this journey on spark was because I realized I had put my life on hold and was holding off travelling because I wasn't fit and didn't feel comfortable with myself. Well that has definitely changed. My visa for China says I have to leave the country every 30 days, and it is too long of a flight to go back to Canada, so I have been visiting so many other places, Hong Kong, Korea, Vietnam and most recently Thailand.
I went to Thailand for the Chinese New Year and it turned out that on my birthday February 1st (also Spark anniversary) I went to an Elephant conservation centre in Lampang (north of Bangkok). I fed a mother elephant and her baby, visited the elephant hospital, watched elephants bathe and then rode an elephant. It was an amazing experience and one I couldn't imagine a year ago. What a memorable way to spend my birthday!
So here I am still in China and planning my next adventure. I also am getting a form fitting Chinese dress made and I never thought I would fit into something like that let alone look good or have the confidence to wear it. I may even get 2!!
Thank you Sparkpeople for being so helpful and providing the tools and seeing that others did it for encouragement. I still had to do it, but Spark showed me the way.
