February Goals

Saturday, February 02, 2013

While on my elliptical this morning I was doing some thinking about what I want to accomplish this month, what I NEED to make happen to get rid of the rest of this baby weight. As we all know, goals are easier to stick to when we put them in writing, so here goes:

1. Complete the February Fab Ab Challenge - refer to yesterday's blog for details.

2. Do it by the numbers - 15 miles/week (walk, run, or elliptical); burn 2000 calories/week; and get my 1000 fitness minutes this month! It has been too long since I got my 1000 minutes!

3. Track my meals at least 4 days a week. I am just being realistic here, knowing that doing it all day everyday is not something I will be able to stick to.

4. Meat-free Mondays - I don't eat a lot of meat anyways, so this should be relative easy; adding it in for my SprakFriend, Mary.

Wish me luck! emoticon

Fab Ab February!

Friday, February 01, 2013

I really need for February to be fabulous... January started off so well and then proceeded to go downhill incredibly fast.

This month, I am doing my best to set myself up for success. I registered for a 10K in April, a 4 miler in March, and then there are 2 or 3 local 5K's to fill in with here and there. I also registered for an 8-week runner's yoga class that starts April 3rd; each class begins with a short run, followed by 45 minutes of yoga practice to stretch and strengthen the muscles you use most for running. Ideally, I would like to loose 10-15 lbs. before the yoga class starts, which is going to take some serious focus. For a little added motivation, a certain SparkFriend and I are having our own little personal Biggest Loser Challenge this month.

Anyway, back to the purpose of this post. One of my best friends, who moved across the country almost 2 years ago, sent me this Fab Ab Challenge. As we all know, the more the merrier, so who's in????

Obviously, the calendar was generated when the month started on a Wednesday, but I think we can all improvise, right??

Holy smokes to end the month with a 2 minute plank!

I am SO in...

I noticed the other day that I am getting ab definition & I have been totally focused on it. Yes, as Trixie noted Spring break is at the end of March! I've got 8 weeks to lose, tone & look fabulous so when I am laying around the beach or poolside I am smoking...

Ohhh, maybe I can convince hubby & family to dress up for dinner one night during our trip so I can wear my black dress again... emoticon

One of Many Reasons...

Friday, July 27, 2012

that I absolutely love the city in which I live! Not many people live in close proximity to farmer's markets where they can purchase fresh, local produce, but I do. According to CNN, my market, which I can walk to, is ranked 8th, not in the nation, but the world!!! Gotta LOVE Lancaster!!

A Letter to my SparkFriends

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

My apologies up front if this sounds a little whiny, but I'm 35 weeks pregnant today, hot, uncomfortable, and stressed out, so I'm feeling whiny. I know my dear friends will understand...

Anyway, I just wanted to apologize for falling off the SparkWagon this past week. I also doubt I will be overly active in the coming weeks either. I have been put in a very difficult position at work. 3 projects that have been sitting relatively dormant for the past 6-9 months are all of the sudden supposed to move forward - fast and immediately. I am the only person in my company (which, due to economic issues, has dwindled from about 15 full-time employees to 3 full-time and 3 part-time over the past 2 years), who can see these projects through. Funny thing is, I am literally about to pop! I know for a fact that I will be working up until the point that I go into labor, as well as putting time in over my maternity leave. The worst part of it all is that once these 3 projects are finished, I will probably be let go, unless we all of the sudden get some new projects. I am thoroughly convinced that these particular projects are the sole reason that I am still employed at all.

To top it all off, our lease in our branch office (which is where I am, alone) is up the end of this month. I spent all last week packing and moving boxes as opposed to spending much needed time on the aforementioned projects.

Anyway, it was the lull in work that has allowed me to be so active on SP, since I Spark mostly during the week, and I am no longer have the luxury of that time. And the last thing that I want to do in the evening after work is sit in front of my computer. I'm sure many of you can understand that!

So, while I won't actively be Sparking for a while, please know that I am thinking of all of you (especially those of you with your first marathons coming up!!) and am sparking in 'spirit'! I will still be logging on to track my miles and rack up those fitness minutes since it motivates me, and I will definitely keep everyone posted as to when the little guy arrives!!

Thank you everyone for you continued motivation and support!!

There is definitely no need to apologize. You've really got a lot going on! I wish you could have some time before little guy arrives to wind down a little bit, though. I hope you're finding SOME way(s) to let out the stress. Sorry to hear about the possibility of losing your position. Hopefully you'll get some new projects!

I've been fired after coming back from short-term (2 months) disability, and it would have been more stress and problems and hassle than it was worth to pursue legal action. It DOES suck though when you had a legitimate reason for being out, as you will have. Focus on the positives though. It hasn't happened yet. You're going to welcome a new son to the world! It's busy season til frost, so maybe you can get your resume out and see if any other firms are hiring?

SP mail me your email addy cos I don't get on facebook much! I hope you are able to enjoy the last few projects, hurried though they may be (I find I have some of my most brilliant thinking when on a deadline), and hope you'll have time to shower if you're :out in the field" when your son decides it's time! LOL!

Just feel good! emoticon

May, Week 3 (Better late than never...)

Sunday, May 20, 2012

My apologies to my GONE team members... I had every intention of posting this last night, but was so wiped after the baseball game that I snuggled the kiddos to sleep and totally passed out myself...

Week 3 had ups and downs, but I managed to meet most of my goals.

1. Track my food and stay within my recommended calorie range at least 4 days a week -
Done, though I need to focus on tracking the bad days. I do good up until the point that I realize I am going to go over, and then I give up on the tracking.

2. Walk 12-15 miles per week - 14.91

3. Limit my meat-containing meals - I was doing really well this week, until some cravings hit me on Friday, and then the baseball game yesterday. I did say no to the heavenly smelling hot dogs and had a turkey burger instead, but...

4. Strength training, 4x a week - DONE!
