Good week. Rough morning.

Weekend is here. Time to relax. NOPE! Thank you car for making it to the weekend and then to the auto shop before dying. Same shop I went to for another major repair a month ago, so the manager is cutting me a deal. THANK YOU!!! emoticon

WAS going to the gym this morning for my initial assessment. Wasn't looking forward to it. Yep, assessment trainer is still a jerk. All week he's been bugging me about how he doesn't think my assessment will do "any good" if I don't commit to a training program. The effort won't mean anything "without some kind of consistency" THAT was it! I looked him straight in the eye and told me "I can do the consistency ON MY OWN. I want my starting point. I'll see you Saturday."

As for as my consistency...I've been to the gym 3 times this first week. I'm proud of myself and looking forward to next week. I've got that nice, light soreness that comes with a good workout. I missed the feeling. Actually hoping I get my car back with enough time to get to the gym this afternoon before it closes emoticon

The bad things will get better and the good things will keep coming emoticon

Not a bad day/Gym trainer still a jerk

Work passed relatively quick today. Got a good 30 minute walk in at the gym emoticon DISPITE the assessment trainer bailing on me again. He has a kind of feel that my time isn't worth as much as his. In fact, after he passed on my APPOINTMENT time, and I worked out, he caught me at the door to ask if I had time now. Ummm, no. That's why I was leaving. Duh! I also had to tell him over and over I ONLY want the assessment to get a baseline. I already know how to work out. And he kept asking me "but are you sure it's not in your budget to get on a program. I don't know how much I can help out if you aren't on a program." No joke! Even after I finally told him I can't really afford a program (even if I wanted one) and then he was asking "are you sure you don't have just a little room in your budget?" Jerk.

Summary...customer service at this gym sucks so far. BUT, I didn't join the gym to get buddy chummy with the trainers. It's right by my house AND my daycare. I can work out and pick up my baby with ease and not sweat using a lot of gas on the weekends. All I want is a place to work out and that's what I got emoticon

Today was a very frustrating day. I don't know what's gotten into my sweet Little Miss, but I'm hoping it leaves soon. The whole day was filled with baby screaming, fighting, "don't do that," "no... No... NO!" and "it's time for timeout." Add in a new stain on my mom's poor couch.

Good things that did happen today (because every day has some good in it): I did get some relief from the baby when my mom tagged in and used it for reading time. I got great references from other Sparkers for a great website that offers meal planning (I like Spark, but the meal plan is difficult to apply to my family). I even finished filling in my goal/rewards list. Good karma for my motivation!

Time to get ready for tomorrow. I have good expectations emoticon

So, today was my health assessment at my new gym. SUPPOSED to be anyway. My trainer bailed! I just couldn't believe it! I did try to make the most of it...I went up to an elliptical and started peddling. ~Whew~ I am far more out of shape than I had thought. I was dying after just 2 minutes. I toughed it out longer though. I started sweating good at about 5 minutes. Around 7 I suuddenly realized I hadn't brought a towel with me emoticon I know I probably should have toughed out longer. I know it might just be an excuse....BUT I didn't want to leave the machine sweaty from my workout. I remember how nasty my old gym was cuz people would just sit down and do their business but never wipe off the machines emoticon I ended up getting off the machine and leaving. The nice girl at the counter did reschedule me for tomorrow after work. Let's hope he's there this time!

    So sorry your trainer didn't show up. Did the receptionist schedule you with someone else or are you giving the same person another chance?

As for the elliptical minutes, we all start somewhere. Check out the settings on the machine. Maybe the resistance was too high for you and needed to be adjusted so you would be able to work-out for a longer period of time.

Also, make sure the trainer or someone on staff gives you a good tour of the facilities. Many gyms have cleaning solution with paper towels on hand to clean machines before/after use. It may not be as environmentally friendly as we would like but it helps cut down on the bacteria left on the machines.

One Day Closer

Tomorrow is my start-up consultation at my newly found gym. I'm super excited. Today I was playing around with different options for how I want to spend my time at the gym. Of course, after my consultation I'll likely have a better idea of which one will work best. I have 1 hour every day that is now slotted for the gym. No excuses left now. And that's just what makes me happy. emoticon
