Spring

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

Today the snow is melting and the sun is out. It is still cold, but everything is thinking spring, even me! I have the afternoon off and can't wait to get outside and take my dogs for a long, well-deserved walk. They are small and haven't been able to get up over the snow banks all winter. It's hard shoveling all that snow to make them some paths they can use.

So today we are going for a long walk where they can go 'off-leash' and just run. I will have to wear my boots because it is mud season here. The benefit to that is that I have work a little harder getting around. I am looking forward to it, and my dogs will be happy too! It's going to be a great afternoon!

All that shoveling burns serious calories! We are mostly melted now but I always expect another snow squall. lol

I bet the pups loved the time outside. Mine is slightly afraid of the horses on the one part of our walk but she gets over it.

Come on Spring!

I wish we were into Spring but we are in Autumm and not looking forward to having to rake up the leaves from the next door neighbours tree. We dont get snow where I live but it does get cold.

Persistence

Sunday, February 27, 2011

I am trying to find a meaningful motivator for me. I have found that to make one of my sweaters, to finish I have to be persistent or the project won't be accomplished. I guess for my exercise goals that I have to look at it the same way. I have to just keep doing it every day no matter how I feel or don't want to today. I must be persistent to accomplish my goals!

It can get hard day in and day out, but stick to it! We CAN do it! :)

Exercise Motivation

Saturday, February 26, 2011

My problem isn't so much the eating; with regimented dietary restrictions and diabetes, there isn't much to be able to eat.

My real issue is exercise motivation. We have a wii fit so I often have to get off my butt from knitting or reading and challenge myself or my husband to move around. We have wii wars (no violence) and challenges. This winter with it being dark early we haven't done as much and my waistline shows it. So back to the wii, extra walks, and parking AWAY from my office. When you know it is going to snow a foot before you get out of work puts a real damper on that for me! Fortunately spring is coming (I hope!).

A friend recently became allergic to her diabetic medication and had to spend 2 days in the hospital. I don't want that to happen to me. I need to get moving. It will help me to reduce my dependence on medications. That would be a good thing! So I'm off here for today to get in my extra walk and to get my wii fit fired up! Free Run anyone?

emoticon on posting your first blog, and I have read a lot from people posting about getting off meds from losing weight.
