New Beginnings

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

Well, here I am again after a long absence. My teenage daughter is my motivation. She has a sign pasted to her loft bed frame. "The definition of insanity: always doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome."

So, after participating in a triathlon this past November and having a time within a few 100ths of second as the previous year, I have decided that change is the only way I can improve.

I have changed my diet to be 50-60% Protein 20-25% carbs and 15-20% fat. This is a very difficult ratio to achieve. With my activity level, it requires a minimum of 200 g of protein. I am finding this very hard accomplish. My carbs mostly come from fruit and vegetable and still remains higher than my goal. Regardless, it's the diligent effort that is so far the payoff.

I see a change! 3 lbs so far. It's not a lot, but it is change.

Additionally, I have changed up my training and embarked on a free 6 week program offered on FB from Spinervals. I am sticking to it as best as possible and that too is a change for the better.

After having been tested to see if I have pcos or a thyroid issue, the determination is that I am extremely healthy. The only conclusion is that it is time for real change.

Much peace to you all in your journey. Don't let insanity creep in! If it isn't working for you make a change and try again. You will succeed because you desire to.

Just keep trying!

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

I am still not as steady with tracking and working on my goals. I have a few new incentives though. First, my husbands 30th reunion is at the end of June. I would like to shed a few pounds before then. We will do a 30 mile group ride.

Also, this past Saturday, my friend and I did a group ride and I struggled as it was a steady incline. She finally, after several years, threw her opinion out there. She is petite and always has been.
She said that she feels that I am struggling because of my power to weight ratio on the hills. I am strong on the flat, but struggle on the hills. So, it is time to conquer the hills and get rid of a few extra pounds.

A finally note: There is a young gal who has discarded 80 or so pounds in 18 months. She changed her diet and is working on her yoga teacher training certificate. I mentioned something about losing weight, and she stopped me. She said that when we lose something we have the potential to find it again. She said that she is just getting rid of or shedding unwanted weight. Pretty good!!! :-)

Cheers to all you wonderful Spark People!!!!! May today be a successful and fulfilling day! Peace.

Half Marathon!

Monday, February 21, 2011

Ran my first ever half marathon yesterday in 2 1/2 hours. Met my goal time.
I am so sore today, it's time to get on track and lose weight so that the impact of running on my body will be less.
20 lbs would be nice over 10 weeks. So here goes week 1!

Back to School

Thursday, September 23, 2010

I have returned to school! I am taking two online classes. One is nutrition for health and wellness. The other is Anatomy Physiology.
They are both helping me see my body in a new way. I hope that this will lead to success as an athlete as well as my weight loss endeavour.

Wow! Long Time

Monday, August 23, 2010

Even though it's been a long time since I have logged or blogged on Sparkpeople, I am doing fairly well. My weight is not changing much. but me jeans fit great and I have had some recent compliments.

Triathlon training is changing my life! It's hasn't been as easy through the summer months here in AZ with record heat however, I am sticking to it as much as possible.
I am looking forward to my next event in Parker AZ. It is called Blue Water.

Another big change I am undertaking is a career change. Construction is lacking and my business is struggling. In an answer to this problem, I have returned to school. I plan to become a massage therapist. I will strive to work with athletes and possibly further my education beyond that. My first 2 classes are online which is a new concept to this old dog..... Anatomy and Physiology (bio160) and a Nutrition class for health and wellness. The nutrition class is for my own benefit. In the coming weeks I will be fine tuning my diet to aid in me as a triathlete. I am totally loving it!
I hope to be able to make a weight change as well as I progress through this class.

Much peace to you all.
