My opinion

Sunday, September 25, 2011

I think the adult age should be changed back to age 21. We are rushing our young people too quickly. We are giving them decision making that they shouldn't have to deal with yet. I know they can't wait until they are old enough to drink. Even waiting until 21 they were getting it any way they could. Now we are helping them out by giving it to them legally at 18. Make them work for getting that alcohol by what they were doing before false id etc. My opinion.

I think calling people senior at 55 is too young also. I live in a bldg. 55plus but I don't think those bldgs. should exist for 55plus. Those places and benefits should be 60plus. The Canada pension should be 70 and not 65. My opinion.

I feel young and healthy. I am healthier than I was when I was 30. Many aging people are now getting healthier and living longer. So why not change the age to 60 and 70 as I mentioned earlier in this blog.

Happy to be healthy.

I agree with you when it comes to drinking age. Sadly we send our 18 to 19 year olds to college where they are living in a bubble of young adults where half of the are 21 and buy alcohol for those under 21. The orientation at the college and my daughters sororities all assure you they have strict policies and we need not worry. We raised our girls such that they have seen and been told in graphic details of what being intoxicated can result in doing that can cause you serious regrets and consequences in your lives. They lived a few of them and would call and cry and tell us everything. There college friends couldn't believe they told us everything. After my accident when they were teens and all the family counseling we do have very open and honest relationships.

Both my girls will tell you binge drinking is alive and well in college. The guys will buy all your drinks in hopes of getting you to drunk to say no. They will tell you they didn't drink much when their was a guy they really liked in the mix because the temptation was to high when they were sober!! They were wise beyond their years, but they made their mistakes in judgement too, but at least we were lucky parents to have them able to share them with us to help them work their way to facing the realities of their actions with love and counseling.

Our country the drinking age is still 21, but adults at 18. The young adults can still sign up for the service to their country but can't walk in a bar and have a beer. I honestly think they should be 21 and have a chance to go to college and get a good idea what all their options are before signing up. My brother went to college in 75 for four years so he could enter the marines as an officer and pilot. He served six years as an officer and pilot. We missed him and were really proud of his service and that after being in civil air patrol and getting his pilots license at 14 years old, he was following his dream. Now he is a pilot for 20 years with American Airlines.

I am rambling on but I do feel the way you do about the drinking age. I have mixed feelings about retirement and seniors ages and years. I am not as passionate about that issue as the other I guess.

Great blog Carol!!

I respect your Ideas to many young people are not ready to make adult situations. But then I remember a song during the Viet Nam war called eve of destruction. A young man siging Olde enough to fight(go to war) but not old enough to vote.

    Happy for you Carol

sorry I love getting my discounts at 55..

and the government would never go for it as they need recruits for the army ... so that would take a lot of their prospects out of the equation..

Good thoughts though
