New Year new motivation

I've slacked off of Spark people but not fitness the last two months. I've been actively using my fit bit and gathering badges for steps and miles. My coworker who originally introduced me to Sparkpeople admitted that she had been slacking off also. She motivated me today to come back.

Whatever it takes, my health and my fitness, stress relief and everything else is up to me not anyone else.

Here's to a more active 2013!

I did not walk at lunch time yesterday. I had started a running program and was on the second day. I knew I was going to get on the treadmill after work. There was talk about skipping the treadmill last night and waking up at 4am to get my workout. I had my clothes all ready to get up early today, but I looked down at my Fitbit. It read less than 5,000 steps. I also realized that the new 5k101 program I started meant I would run three times this week with one day in between for rest. If I skipped last night it would totally screw up my plan. I grabbed my ipod and got on the treadmill. I am so proud of myself for not giving in to the "I'll just do it tomorrow!"

    Good for you! I just received a FitBit last week for my birthday. I'm learning how to use it and I think it will motivate me, also.

Fitbit and friendly competition

My husband and I recently bought ourselves the Fitbit to track our activity level. Now we periodically text each other with the amount of steps we've walked to urge each other on.

Due to my new toy, I'm really getting motivated to impliment more activity into my day. Yesterday I took the stairs to a meeting on the 17th floor. I started on the 2nd floor and walked up and then down after the meeting. I also did my usual walk around the park. It felt really good to know that I reached and exceeded the 10,000 step goal.

My legs are a little sore this morning but it feels like proof of a job well done.

Here's to no more elevators.

Fell off the Sparkpeople wagon

Okay, I'm not sure what happened but I woke up yesterday or today and realized that I hadn't been logging into Sparkpeople for like, a month! I'm not sure how that happened. I fell off the wagon. We had gone on vacation to Walt Disney World in the beginning of March and then our exercise routine petered out. When we got back it was cold and raining so we didn't continue our bike rides.

This morning during the drive to work, hubby advised that he wants to try waking up a half hour early and walking on the treadmill because it usually takes us 30 minutes in the evening to get ready to go on our 30-40 minute bike ride. Tomorrow is the first day of early and since we already wake up early, we're talking 4am. We'll see how we do.

Better planning

I realized that I've going through the motions. I make sure I logon to the site every morning, but haven't really been engaged with the community. I plan on changing that!! I need to connect again with the community. I need to make a point of getting out and walking with others.

I spent today cleaning my room and purging. I hope that I can purge bad habits as well as I purged clutter.

    Sometimes it just takes us to organize the outside of our lives so that the inside can work. I wish you well and know that you are not alone. I do the same. I finally cleaned my closet and was able to discipline other areas of my life.
