I would LIKE to........ in 2011

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

I won't call them goals. YES I KNOW the whole theory here is to make a goal and work towards it. I have set goals and tried to reach them and it just doesn't happen so I am just going to say I would LIKE to.

I would LIKE to release 5 pounds. YES I know that sounds too easy BUT when you are taking medication for Thyroid problems, it makes it difficult to lose the weight.
I would LIKE to be able to gag down 8 cups of water daily. Some days I'm just not thirsty enough.

That is about all I can say about next year. I already exercise 5 days a week usually for 90 minutes or more.

I did get out and walk for 2 laps today which is 1.36 miles in 30 minutes. It's still 95F during the day here

I think they sound great. Rememeber they just need to be things to work toward. It is about progress not perfection. I'm with you on the water. I do drink alot of tea. Have a great week!

Maybe you should try tea. There are so many different flavors out there. You're bound to find one you like! I got chocolate strawberry for Christmas. I didn't even know that existed!

Good luck with your goals in the coming year!

I just recently started medication for my thyroid, I'm hoping it'll help me lose more weight! And I always hated drinking water, but something I did was to add Crystal Light to it so that it was flavored. I could easily get in my water then. Eventually I've gotten to the point that I drink it plain and only on occasion have a flavored water!

My Christmas

Sunday, December 26, 2010

Well it's the day after, December 26 so HAPPY BOXING DAY to those who celebrate/observe the day.

On the 24th we had a nice dinner with 3 of our friends. My friend Maria brought home made spring rolls, YUM! I made a beef tenderloin roast that I saw on the Food Network, I made roasted potatoes and carrots, lemon-Dill green beans that turned out yucky, mashed butternut squash that in my opinion was very bitter, ginger peach jello cups that were good, canned (yuck) cranberry sauce, our friend brought a sweet and sour German cabbage that was good and chopped apples and pineapple with a fondue chocolate dip, then my friend Maria brought her home made spring rolls YUM! I made pecan pie that was more like pecan soup and a cherry pie (from the can) The Gravy didn't turn out at all and I forgot the whipped cream for the pies. I felt dinner was yucky, everyone else said it was good. YES, I did use very careful portion control.

We watched Christmas movies and watched the Santa Tracker on the computer.

Dec. 25 was just another day here. 90+ F, sunny and not a cloud or snowflake in the sky. DH went to work since Christmas is forbidden and against the law and Saturday is the start of the work week. I watched the Santa tracker on DH's computer and cleaned up. I also had to wrap DH's presents still. Santa had already been here when I woke up.
DH got home early from work but not because they were nice and let hime off early, they just finished a job in another department.
I got a much needed laptop sleeve for when I travel, a aluminum water bottle instead of using a plastic milk bottle and 3 yummy Body Shop burning scents. DH was pleased with his calendar I made him. I took pictures of his Harley and made them into a calendar using a plain monthly calendar that I bought and pasted the pictures in it.

We pretty much vegged out and watched Christmas movies and ate left over spring rolls that were pretty good!

So today, December 26 I got out and did 3 laps of walking on the compound without wheezing too bad or coughing. Still at a slower pace though.

Hope you all had a GREAT Christmas.

Dinner sounded pretty good, glad you had the time with your friends. Now hopefully you'll continue to feel better and we can all get back to normal.
Unlike Sue, bob and I are in denial about snow coming our way, haha and refuse to believe it until we have to shovel our way out the front door. Fortunately there are enough leftovers to live off of for the next week. emoticon

I'm happy that you're feeling better, and it looks as if you guys had a nice, festive time! The meal probably wasn't as bad as you thought.

We're waiting for a major blizzard here. A foot and a half of snow and high winds. Bill is off stocking up on supplies, batteries, water, candles, etc. Brrr! At least we have a woodstove and fireplace.

Now aren't you glad you're there?

Todays quick note-Dec. 22

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

I got outside for the 3rd day in a row for my walk but I still can't get further than 2 1/4 laps. The first 1/2 lap is spend wheezing, coughing and trying to catch my breath, then the maintenance or trash truck goes by with the leaking exhaust smell. I can't even get up to my normal pace anymore. I really hope this chest congestion goes away, I don't want to be stuck with this wheezing and not being able to take a deep breath. I want to get my walking back up and pick up my pace.
I did some dumbbell exercises today too.

DH got home a couple days ago so we're just dandy here.
Have a GREAT day

Just a footnote to the blog about the irrigation water on my patio, the guy that takes care of my yard and patio cleaned it all up, it only took 2 hours!

Take your time and let your body tell you when it is ready for the long walks. It usually knows better than your mind does! Take care and don't relapse. Thinking of you.

An interesting day

Sunday, December 19, 2010

Thanks to my furbaby Annie, I woke up at 6:45 this morning, fed her then SHE went back to bed!

Then this morning I heard a strange noise outside but ignored it. All of a sudden there was water streaming onto my patio. Apparently the outside irrigation water faucet on the house next door blew off and the water was streaming all over. I mean the WHOLE faucet/spigot thing blew off. This is the sewage water that is used to water the outside trees and gardens. I called 4 times in 1/2 hour to get maintenance here to stop it. After 45 minutes some little guy comes with NO tools, grabs a tree branch and tries to stuff it in the hole where the water is coming out then leaves! Well that blew out and water is all over again. Finally I guess someone came and put a cap on it. So now I have sewage sludge and sewage water all over my patio but no one bothered to clean it up.

Then later in the afternoon we were invited to the American Consulate for New Years Eve............$300 PER PERSON NOT INCLUDING DRINKS! Now I am homesick for the USA but NOT THAT BAD! GEEZE, it used to be 1/4 of that! Now I know why only the Saudis can afford to go and drink. this is the first time in YEARS that we have had any kind of invitation to OUR OWN Consulate (Embassy) for any kind of function. Normally Americans don't get invited here, only foreigners and mostly Saudis. The Consulate is not here for OUR entertainment.

Still not sure when my husband will be home, he is hoping for Monday but only if the equipment he went to fix works.

ugh that's the worst to deal with! One year on Christmas Eve our dishwasher flooded the kitchen!
And $300?! And it doesn't even include drinks?! Are they crazy?!

yuck what a mess! sorry you had to deal with all that in one day! will send some strong get it fixed vibes so your dh can return home. and doesn't that just stink 300 bucks - you would think they would allow americans to go for free and charge the others! after all they should be there for you! hope your day got better and I really hope someone goes and cleans up your patio - hope that cap holds better than the stick did - what a mess.

take care of you tho! and hope your week gets brighter!

Obviously it isn't there for your entertainment if they're charging you 300 bucks apiece for it! Geez Louise!! Don't you folks deserve something decent??? "Interesting day" is a mild understatement, my friend!

VALI_T 12/19/2010 3:47PM

Well isn't that just what everyone wants to deal with a week before Christmas?? All I had to do was go in to work for someone who had called in sick on a Saturday. Now I'm not nearly as ticked off about having to do that because there was absolutely no sewage involved in my day. I hope someone cleans it up for you soon.
