Cross stitch finish!

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Woo Hoo! I finished a cross stitch WIP(work in progress) last night that I started last Christmas! Now to figure out what to make it into.

I need to sit down today and start my Healthy goal list for 2009. I want to make a daily exercise list of which exercises to do on which day and start a menu plan.

Blood sugar level has come down a bit again

If I didn't know better, I'd say we were going to have a huge rainstorm. It's dark, grey, overcast and humid, one of those curl up and settle in with a good cross stitch project.

Really disappointed

Sunday, December 28, 2008

I had a dr. apt. last night, I gained 5 lbs. I am really bothered by that since I exercised, there were NO parties, NO cookies, NO sweets here. I can even feel that 5 lbs and I can see it. My blood sugar levels have been up too the past few days. SO I guess the only thing to do is to sit down, make a menu, make a daily exercise schedule and start a journal.
I know I could keep the journal here on spark people, but I believe in the right to free speech and if I want to use those nasty 4 letter words, it's my business and they shouldn't censor me.
I also got an appointment for January 3 with the endocronogolist (sp) to have my blood work done.
I still walk 5 days a week, do strength training 3 days a week but Dr. wants me to go to 4 days a week for the exercises.
So can I have another pity party for a couple days and start new in January?

My blood sugars were so good while I was in the hospital. Even while eating they were 103 which I thought was excellant. However since coming home my numbers have been high and i haven't been able to exercise like I used to. Until I get my knee well I will just have to grin and bear it. Do you think you are going high on starches like Potatoes, or bread, or other things that starches are in? Just a thought. I know how that can make them higher. However I'm sure you know what you're doing with your diet routine. Good Luck and maybe if you step up the exercise it will help. I was doing 2 hrs. a day for 5 days a week and it kept it in check. Hope

Ok, he won

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

When DH got home from his afternoon run, the conversation started something about the christmas tree. I have a tiny, scrawny tree that my cross stitch ornaments are on, I kind of like it. I said it's right there & pointed to the tree. He said no, the other one, the tree. I said there's no room, he said he'd help me clean off the side table. I said the cats will knock it over. He said we'll find someplace. I said yeah, whatever. He had to go out to get some eggs & onions so I went and got the tree (with one hand mind you) grabbed some christmas fabric, put the fabric down on an end table, put the tree down, plugged it in and there it is. That's all, just the tree. The tree is only about 3 feet tall if that. The lights & ornaments are always on it, I pick it up and put it back in the closet upstairs. We used to have a huge 7 foot tree but when the kids left and don't come back, I gave the tree to some friends.

So there you have it, he won.

Update & Santa tracker

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

For those of you with kids and just for fun, here's a Santa tracker. IN the past years when we've watched it, it says Santa arrives here in Saudi Arabia around 10:30-11PM. What a hoot!

I didn't make my goal of 135 by Dec. 20. I tried, I really did but nothing moved. I have kept up with the walking, strength training, watching what I eat. I am NOT GIVING UP! My blood glucose levels are dow a bit more so I am happy with that. There were NO parties, get togethers, cookies, or cocktail hours, nothing here so I can't blame it on that.

I haven't put up a tree or decorations, I am just not in the spirit especially when I think that a year ago at this time WE were HOME in the USA with our kids celebrating. That was only because the Muslim holiday was at the same time and DH was off for 10 days. It will be another long time before we get to go home for OUR Christmas holiday again. It's just not the same here without the kids and very few other Americans or Westerners. I am however fixing a dinner on Thursday for us and 4 other friends. I have my DH's gifts wrapped, just need the cat to put his paw prints on one gift, LOLOLOL.

Sweetie, find a tree and hang something on it, anything... lemons..Popcorn..anything..Play some carols, eat a Christmas Cookie.... We make our own Christmas Joy...Sometimes we have to start without the joy...but it will come... I am alone most of the time..I just make it happen here and you can to. Bless you. Grace

The cat paw prints sound so cute. What an ingenous idea. Make him Santa Claus. Maybe the day will turn out better than expected. Don't give up on the Christmas spirit. Your DH may have a thing or two up his sleeve. Hope
