Thursday Shopping at the outlet centre

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Last Thursday was the day to go outlet shopping to Settler's Green in N. Conway. We got to sleep in past 7AM since we were going local. Traffic was bumper to bumper at 10:30AM and backed up like I figured it would be but that's ok, we weren't rushed.
We drove to The Christmas Loft, a shop that is all Christmas all the time, trees, lights, ornaments, Nativity sets etc. A neat shop. We browsed there for an hour or so and I found a couple ornaments for family. Then we drove up to the Settler's Green Outlet centre. My Mother and Sister always look forward to shopping there. There are a few good deals to be found plus I needed to pick up my ring from the jewelers after it was fixed. I did find a couple good deals and my niece found a NY Giants winter jacket for 1/3 the original price.

After wandering around in and out of shops for a couple hours we headed home. I stopped on the way at the KFC but got grilled chicken. I only ate 1 piece plus coleslaw, 1 serving spoon of mashed potatoes & gravy and 1 servings poon of corn. I tried to be good.

I walked and walked that day so I did add it as my exercise.

Our trip to Portsmouth

Monday, August 16, 2010

Last Wednesday we got up early for a trip to Portsmouth.
My father belongs to the Masons and has been a member for over 60 years, plus he is a Shriner too. There is a Masonic Museum in Portsmouth where a lot of artifacts that date back to the 1800's so I thought it would be interesting for him to see. It was very interesting for him even though it is in a very old victorian house with no a/c.

On the way home we stopped at the Stonewall Kitchen Warehouse outlet and found bargains and samples.

Wednesday night we went to the Classic Car Show at the Madison Old Home week had. I saw my friend Holly and introduced my parents and family. Holly had her 1931 Model A there. We saw lots of neat cars too.

It was also the day my niece and daughter went down and got our parking ticket taken care of.

Sounds great, Robin! He oughtta see the Museum of Our National Heritage in Lexington, MA. It's quite a hike, but the Masonic memorabilia are incredible--dating back to George Washington's day. Plus it's a wonderful museum in general, and FREE the last time I went there.

Zip lining

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Last Tuesday we went Zip line riding on Wildcat Mountain in NH. It was a BLAST, not to mention cool and refreshing to the humid day. You take the ski lift 1/2 way up the mountain then walk up a steep hill to get to the zip line gate. There is NO turning back once you get up there either.
My sister and I up at the top before getting in line

All Strapped in and ready to go!

The I Love It Here sign is for a contest to win a New Hampshire Dream vacation worth $2500. You take pictures around vacation/tourist places around New Hampshire and upload it to Visit NH dot gov and hopefully people will vote for your picture.

Then we went Tourist shopping in North Conway. Had lousy lunch service at Wine Thyme, found a really neat toy in a toy store and walked around in an olde country store called Zebs.

That was a GREAT day!

It was a busy week

Saturday, August 14, 2010

My parents, sister and niece were here for a week but went back home. We had a GREAT week. We did a lot of walking, shopping, browsing and eating.
Sunday we stayed around the house and chatted and discussed where we would be going this week. We took a short scenic train ride and part of the group went to a blueberry social for desert. It was old home week in the town here so they have events and things to do almost every day.

Monday we headed to Meredith NH so my parents could take a boat ride on the M/V Mt Washington. Well not a good day. We parked in the main parking lot at 10:40AM. They got on the boat at 12:05. My sister, niece, daughter, grandson and I went shopping then stopped for lunch, got a phone call that my parents were through with their boat ride but they didn't know where they were. Long story is they got off at the wrong dock in the wrong town. So we go back to the car and find parking tickets, $15 fine. The tickets were written at 1:10PM, it was a 3 hour time limit but we were shorted. Then we go to pick up my parents. They just got off the boat, don't know why but they didn't think it looked familiar.

Here's the boat:

We got back to the house, rested for an hour or so then went out to our favourite place for seafood.

We took family pictures of my parents with the great grandsons, grandchildren and my sister and I.

I'll post more tomorrow

PS, We wrote down a time line of when we parked, a phone call, a picture we took, when the ticket was written. My niece called the police station when we returned to talk to them about this ticket. Then my niece and daughter went down to the police station a couple days later to meet with the officer and discuss the ticket. It was ripped up and thrown out by the officer and they were told "try not to do that again"

Sounds like a great week, Robin!

The MV Mount Washington is a great ride! Too bad your parents got confused with the myriad stops. Hope you didn't have to drive too far to pick them up.

    Great tip, Robin!

I can also use that with narrow mouth jars that my hands won't get inside.
