Sad day in NY

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Another sad day for Yankee fans. George Steinbrenner passed away making the second great member of the Yankee family this week to die. Sort of glad I'll be in NY when the team starts playing at Yankee Stadium on Friday.

Had another good workout in the gym tonight with the treadmill and the weight machines.

Getting ready for my annual trip back home to Central NY. I will drive home on Thursday and come back on Tuesday.

George was a great man who mellowed as he aged. He will be missed. Have a good trip and enjoy your time in NY. Great that you are getting your workouts in. Good luck!

Boy - you sure got that right....my Mom didn't particularly care for the Boss but that didn't stop her from her deep love for the Yanks....I'd bust her chops from time to time as he was born in the same month and shared the same astrological sign (Cancer)......boy, the dirty looks and shaken fingers I'd get.....and do I ever miss that.....

And there will never be another voice like Bob Sheppard, that's for sure.....

Sorry to hear about the Yankees. I'm not big on baseball, but any death of a great athlete is sad. I hope you have a safe trip and a good time in New York. Keep up the good work in the gym! You can do it!

A busy day

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

This morning I got my 25 Spark points for the every 30 days on the site, great, thank you. I joined Spark People on July 15 (or 16) 2008 so this week will make my 2nd Sparkiversary so why doesn't my 30 days line up with my join date?

I had to call the jeep dealer to get my car a/c checked, it smelled like dead fish when I turn the a/c on. I was able to get it in at 1 PM, no problem, that will fit in.

I loaded up the car with my 72 oz jug of water, coffee, The Spark book to read, the newspaper and get on the road. On a normal non-tourist day it's a 30-35 minute drive to town but now that it's summer and tourist season, add 15-20 minutes on to that drive because of the bumper to bumper traffic. So I stop at the town hall and renewed DH's Harley registration and the Suburban registration and get on my way.
Had to drop off the Harley registration at the Dealership for the annual inspection. Well the Harley shop is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, I did not know that. Well ok, on to next stop. I had 2 hours until I take the car in so I stopped at a couple shops. Found the aluminum pans I've been looking for at the dollar store. I cook meals for 2 and freeze 1 serving and these will go from freezer to oven easily,

Ok so on to the Jeep dealer. I turn on the a/c and it smells like dead fish or as my grandson put it, cow poop, and when I turn it up to high the fan sounds like it's going to blow through hood. 45 minutes later the guy comes out and says I'm done. They had to clean it up, apparently a "critter" decided to make my a/c fan it's home and when I turned on the a/c I made mush out of the critter and it was thumping around the fan. It smells better now.

After that I had to stop at the grocery store which took me over an hour since I was comparing prices, reading lables.
Then on to the post office to mail a package to Australia for my wonderful Spark friend and another package to another Sparkfriend in teh US.

I had a yummy salmon filet for dinner. Now I'm tired so it's off to bed.

Did you make mush out of a skunk? Honestly though I would have felt bad for the critter.

Happy 4th of July!

Sunday, July 04, 2010

I was good and had a 3 oz chicken breast slice grilled, 1 low fat hot dog, mixed grilled vegetables, 1 cup pasta salad with Pesto sauce. Later I will have my yogurt for today. Oh, I also had a Mojito, I deserve it!

It's a quiet day, not much happening but that's ok. Time to catch up.

Tomorrow, it will be back to the gym!

I hope you all have had a wonderful day!

Great weekend!

Monday, June 28, 2010

Saturday I had a GREAT time at our New Hampshire Spark Rally. I met new friends and and saw friends I met at last year's rally, had great conversations, great food. It's so nice to put faces to names. I hope we can do this again later this summer.

Another great day on Sunday, I got to have both my grandsons and my son together at the same time. Even though it was a lot of driving, I enjoyed it.

Had to drive through a little bit of that nasty NASCAR traffic too. People were hanging on the fence at the airport waiting for some of the drivers to leave in their private jets, saw the truck entourages with the cars driving down the highway to the next destination after the race. Didn't thrill me in the least.

Monday I am off to the diabetes dr again. I usually have a healthy snack before bed but I'm not tonight in case they need to do a fasting blood test in the morning and I'm hungry now.

Have a GREAT new week!

I love the picture Robin. Your oldest GS looks just like you in the face. I guess your DS got his looks from his Dad. That's something that you got to see the Nascar people leaving. Have you ever been to a race before? I'd love to go sometime. Hope

You've got a fine family there.....I'm sure they give you much joy.....I'm sure they must have been trained properly in the ways of the world (i.e., being proper Yankee fans).....

Great pic, Robin! What handsome boys! And I learned a lot about wasps from your grandson who was at the rally. Say hi for me.

Another rally later this summer? Wow! Count us in!

Good luck at the doc today.
