Surprising Healing Benefits of Spices

Friday, June 04, 2010

I was browsing Yahoo this morning and came across this interesting article and thought I would share it with you.

***NOTE: I DO NOT AGREE WITH NOR DISAGREE WITH THIS ARTICLE, I AM JUST SHARING IT WITH MY SPARK FRIENDS

Chances are you sprinkle cinnamon into your morning oatmeal or add a dash of oregano to pizza without giving the spices much thought. But did you know your favorite flavors can actually do your body good?

I have heard of some of these. Thanks for the report. Did you know that cayenne will also stop bleeding when you get cut. The brothers that traveled with the James brothers got shot up and survived it even though they were shot 20 or more times. However because they took cayenne pepper in their food and drinks they survived the shots because they didn't bleed to death. I got that from a relative of the James brothers.

great article, but would have been better if it was more inclusive.

I knew I loved cilantro, but now that I know it acts as a diuretic and can help with that water weight, I REALLY love it!

Thanks for sharing, Robin!

A new bootcamp!

Wednesday, June 02, 2010

I joined another bootcamp team yesterday but I can't start it just yet since my daughter will be here for a couple days and I haven't seen her since October. I'm excited about it thought! You do it at your own pace. It's called Official 28-Day Bootcamp Workout Challenge teams.sparkpeople.com/28DayBootcamp It looks like fun and I can't wait to start it.

Today was the 2nd day to work out with my friend Holly and the time just zoomed by so much faster that it did when she wasn't there the other day. I talked to her and asked how she lost the weight and toned up so now I got the pointers I have to do it too!

I'm waiting for my daughter to get here and I'm so excited!@

Being HOME feels good!

Monday, May 31, 2010

My trip went well, took off a few minutes late but landed at JFK 45 minutes early, got through immigration in no time, waited forever on my luggage but no problems with customs. Got over to the Jet Blue terminal, checked in, then had a Coors Light for breakfast!! Then walked around for a while. Looked for Yankees stuff but there wasn't much there, but I GOT THE SPARK BOOK! I was thrilled. I even started reading it.
My flight left at 12:40 and got to Boston at 1:35, waited on luggage then waited for the Concord Trailways bus at 2:40. The bus had WiFi so I checked e-mail and actually got to do my sparking. I got to hug my son at 4:45PM local time!
I walked quite a bit while I was in the airports, I did stretching.

I spent the night with my son so I didn't get to my house until Friday morning.
I met my friend Holly at the gym on Friday evening and had a GREAT 30 minute workout on the treadmill.

Today I woke up at 5AM in a panic because it smelled like the house and the woods in my backyard were on fire. I had trouble sleeping again. Found out there is a fire in Canada and the wind and air current is blowing the smoke down this way.

I've been enjoying my pork sausage and bailey's Irish Creme for Breakfast, YUM!

Welcome back! Kudos on having your priorities together - if not successful with Yankee paraphernalia, at least you have...

Welcome home, Robin -- glad your trip was a good one!

We panicked as well when we smelled the smoke yesterday morning. Very strong! The wind shifted yesterday afternoon but this morning it was back and worse than ever. Amazing that it travels that far!

My travel log

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

I woke up at 6AM Wednesday morning my time which corresponds to 11PM Tuesday night at the final destination I will be going to in the USA.

I will leave for the airport around 9:30PM Wednesday evening, my local time, corresponding to 2:30PM Wednesday afternoon final destination time.

The flight leaves at 02:05AM Thursday morning, (HOPEFULLY) local time which corresponds to 7:05pm Wednesday evening final destination time.
I can't possibly explain the whole airport process and have anyone who has not lived in this part of the world understand why we have to be there so early.

Flight is scheduled to land at 8:30AM Thursday morning in the USA. Then a 4-5 hour layover for another 1 hour flight to another destination for a 1 hour wait for a 2 hour bus trip to my final destination sometime around 5PM USA time.

Now the 14 hour trans-Atlantic flight is fully booked and I don't sleep well on planes but with this long of a flight, I will take a Simply Sleep tablet and hopefully I can get at least 5 hours sleep.

So back to cleaning and last minute packing. See you on the other side of the pond,.
