Ok, he won

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

When DH got home from his afternoon run, the conversation started something about the christmas tree. I have a tiny, scrawny tree that my cross stitch ornaments are on, I kind of like it. I said it's right there & pointed to the tree. He said no, the other one, the tree. I said there's no room, he said he'd help me clean off the side table. I said the cats will knock it over. He said we'll find someplace. I said yeah, whatever. He had to go out to get some eggs & onions so I went and got the tree (with one hand mind you) grabbed some christmas fabric, put the fabric down on an end table, put the tree down, plugged it in and there it is. That's all, just the tree. The tree is only about 3 feet tall if that. The lights & ornaments are always on it, I pick it up and put it back in the closet upstairs. We used to have a huge 7 foot tree but when the kids left and don't come back, I gave the tree to some friends.

So there you have it, he won.

Update & Santa tracker

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

For those of you with kids and just for fun, here's a Santa tracker. IN the past years when we've watched it, it says Santa arrives here in Saudi Arabia around 10:30-11PM. What a hoot!

I didn't make my goal of 135 by Dec. 20. I tried, I really did but nothing moved. I have kept up with the walking, strength training, watching what I eat. I am NOT GIVING UP! My blood glucose levels are dow a bit more so I am happy with that. There were NO parties, get togethers, cookies, or cocktail hours, nothing here so I can't blame it on that.

I haven't put up a tree or decorations, I am just not in the spirit especially when I think that a year ago at this time WE were HOME in the USA with our kids celebrating. That was only because the Muslim holiday was at the same time and DH was off for 10 days. It will be another long time before we get to go home for OUR Christmas holiday again. It's just not the same here without the kids and very few other Americans or Westerners. I am however fixing a dinner on Thursday for us and 4 other friends. I have my DH's gifts wrapped, just need the cat to put his paw prints on one gift, LOLOLOL.

Sweetie, find a tree and hang something on it, anything... lemons..Popcorn..anything..Play some carols, eat a Christmas Cookie.... We make our own Christmas Joy...Sometimes we have to start without the joy...but it will come... I am alone most of the time..I just make it happen here and you can to. Bless you. Grace

The cat paw prints sound so cute. What an ingenous idea. Make him Santa Claus. Maybe the day will turn out better than expected. Don't give up on the Christmas spirit. Your DH may have a thing or two up his sleeve. Hope

Blog prompt: Do you think organic food is healthier? Why or why not?

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

I don't know if it is but it's definitely more expensive! I refuse to pay the extra price because money is tight right now. When I was able to afford the pricey stuff, I couldn't taste the difference.
Ok so flame away.

I'm not sure that a homemade garden is just as good and you can tell the difference because its not canned or has the salt in it like the others. Organic can be bad for you too. Hope

Well, it would make sense if there were no pesticides, chemical fertilizers, blah blah blah, that they might be healthier. But I still don't know where those foods are coming from, what ground they're being grown on, what hands have touched it. So I think I'll just save my money.
Now if I ever get around to putting in my own garden...that'll be organic!

Happy Birthday to my Grandson!

Monday, December 15, 2008

Today is my oldest Grandson's 9th birthday. I was there when he was born and have only been with him for 1 birthday and that was a year ago. He is still my sweetheart even though his attitude is growing up too fast.

I haven't posted in awhile, DH was home for the Muslim religous holidays for 2 weeks even though we are NOT muslim and do not celebrate it, the government here shuts down anyway. He was doing a lot of downloading on his computer which caused the household network to slow down so nothing moved very fast. I did get a lot of cross stitching done though.

I also didn't do a lot of exercising and found those 2 lbs that I thought I had lost. Now my goal is to loose those 2 pounds and 4 more to go with it. Gotta make it an even number, LOL. I am back on track this week though.

I haven't decorated anything for the December holiday, I am not at all fond of it, too many painful reminders of things that happened. Plus I am not HOME in the USA with my family to celebrate and it is forbidden, banned & not allowed in this country. But it is good we didn't go home since New Hampshire had an ice storm. I would probably be in the dark or stuck in an airport someplace.

My grandson was born 7 years ago on the 29th. I was there but not in the delivery room. I luckily have gotten to spend a lot of time with him. Yesterday the temps were 71 and last night they fell to 15. We are having a lot of ice and a little snow. I am on my way to the hospital so I will get back with you. How long do you have to stay in that country? That seems a shame you can't celebrate Christmas. Hope
