Baseball season starts today! Woo Hoo.
I'm not going to be like the rude, obnoxious "OTHER team" fans and talk snot about any other team but mine. Hope it's a GREAT season!

The SparkPeople 2010 daily desk Calendar note for this weekend is:
You can enjoy a handful of small jelly beans (about 25) for 100 calories. Remember that one handful can easily turn into two or three, so enjoy your portion and then keep your hands out of the candy basket.

That's easy for me today, there is NO Easter baskets or candy here.

I'm not into baseball (even though I was raised in a Mets family) but I know how people can get with this sport.

As for the jelly beans - I think I am going to stop at the store and pick up Jelly Bellies. They are all natural with no high fructose corn syrup... not only better for your "diet" but also the flavors ROCK!

Happy Easter!

Starting a Bootcamp Challenge today

Saturday, April 03, 2010

Today I am starting a bootcamp challenge on three of my teams. I liked the Sweatsuit to Swimsuit bootcamp from last May so I am going to do that one. I am doing it as a challenge to keep me motivated and accountable to do the exercises. This bootcamp workout will be in addition to the cardio and strength training workouts I already do, I just want someone to do this with me.

It is a shame that they don't have a privacy policy. It shouldn't matter that the site is free, so is FB, but you can't just get information about anyone.

Good luck with the boot camp.

Wow. Robin...you are right. What a shame that Spark sold out. I was hoping it was private...Weight Watchers is...it is because it is free. I better watch what I say and post then.

I googled and was shocked!

A GREAT video

Friday, April 02, 2010

I'm a city girl but moved to rural New Hampshire several years ago and like it.
I HATE rap but I saw a really neat video on Facebook the other day and apparently it has hit NH by storm. It's called Granite State of Mind, a parody on Jay-Z "song"

    Very funny!

I am from Long Island and have the original song on my iPhone for months now. It is perfect for us New Yorkers.

Now I like in Wisconsin - which is very much like New Hampshire (have family up there) so this song is perfect... just need to replace to say Wisconsin. LOL

I did 5K today

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

It wasn't a big public race or walk but I pushed myself this morning and did a 3.25 mile/5K walk in 62 mintues. I know that is slow, a 19 minute mile but I made it. I probably could have kept going to finish the 5th lap but I ran out of water and it was getting warmer (my walk route is in full sun and it is the ONLY route I can walk right now). I hope it stays under 80F in the mornings so I can at least get in 3 laps. I sstill have more exercising to do today but I'm glad I did the walk.

The past couple of days since I have been with the Diabetes menu plan, I have stayed within my calorie levels. I just HATE stopping what I am doing to fix lunch though.

Oh, 57 more days

I got a thumbs up today!

Sunday, March 28, 2010

It was a BEAUTIFUL morning when I got up, barely 64F!! I was dammed determined to walk and I did. I waited until it was 74 and went out. I got a little ways up the road when the compound security guy went on his rounds. As he drove by he smiled at me and gave me the pumping thumbs up. That gave me a big smile and motivation. For those of you who KNOW where I am, this is something big for him to do. I got in a 4 lap walk with a couple of short jogs in. 52 minutes for 2.71 miles. I ALMOST wanted to go for that 3 mile walk but I didn't have enough water left to do it.
THEN I did another 20 minute WATP video and 30-45 minutes of strength training.
WOO HOO, go me. I wish it would have some kind of small impact but I know it's just another workout.

I do feel better with more energy today. Now it's time for me to go fix dinner.

    Way to go, Robin!

WOO HOO for you! We barely got to 38 degrees here today, with a little breeze. Definitely not a day for outdoor walking here!

emoticon, go you! That's sobering to think that you have to cut your walk short if you don't have enough water on you! Different perils where you are, for sure!
