Another weekend

Friday, February 26, 2010

This is our "Sunday" here. Because DH worked a rare Thursday yesterday, we went to the grocery store today. The sand and garbage and plastic bags were blowing like crazy this morning, hazardous to drive almost, good thing we didn't spend much time outside in it. I stocked up with my weeks worth of grocery list that I printed off from the SparkPeople menu planner. I've had to make several changes due to being diabetic and stuff we just can't get here. So I'll see how it work out, it was expensive though.

Today is my day off from exercise and I still need it.

Our power is off right now, as is the rest of the compound, just went poof! The cats are in a panic and the kids on the street are all outside screaming and yelling up and down the street. Good thing this side street doesn't get any traffic. Feels like a good time to go outside and sit.

Oh! The sand. How I hate it! I will never move to the beach when I head back home. There is nothing like a 2 ft stream of sand which has blown under the door. Aaargh! I feel your pain.

How long will the power be out?

The sand sounds unusual to me here at the snow storm country.

I'm pretty happy we didn't have to deal with a sand blasting.

I didn't notice my cats freaking out or anything. Mind you they survived last year's ice storm so they probably didn't care.

I don't think I would like a sand storm even if I am cursing the snow right now.

I hope you enjoy your sit outside, sometimes we need to just slow down.

Laugh out loud

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Today's 2010 SparkPeople Day at a Glance Calendar note for today says
Laugh out loud. Visit a comedy club or watch a funny movie. Laughing makes you feel good so make time for fun and humor every day.
A week or so ago, one of our cats was acting so goofy one day and doing really odd things that my sides and stomach hurt from laughing so hard at him. I felt like I had done 50 crunches.

Even though today is our weekend here I felt like I needed an extra workout. Thursdays are usually my 1 day off a week from exercise because we spend the morning doing our errands. Today DH had to work for a few hours so I got in an extra hour of exercise this week.
I can also feel the results of the extra kicked up weight workout this week.

This one is great - we often forget to take life a bit less serious and should remember to just laugh and let life go for a while - life can be good but is always better with good friends and a good laugh! awesome reminder today!

I've had good laughs and smiles with DH. Guess 53 years brings it rewards.

My son and I just returned from a road trip to Tennessee. We laughed all the way there and back. Listened to cournty rap on XM radio,if you have never listened to it try it for a good laugh. I especially liked the one about the Waffle House and the man done wrong by his woman!! We reministed about family and fun times we have all had. While there I met several high school friends and that was the same, laughter I have not experienced in to long a time. Believe them when they say laughter is the best medicine!!!!!

Eat a snack before bed

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Today's SparkPeople Daily Desk calendar note says:

Wednesday Feb. 24:
Eat A snack before bed. It's a myth that eating late causes weight gain. As long as you don't overeat, you can enjoy a bedtime snack without worry. And it's true: Warm milk does help you fall asleep (thanks to it's tryptophan)!

NOTE: I did not make this up, this is on today's page of the SparkPeople 2010 Day at a Glance Calendar. If you don't agree with it, take it up with SparkPeople.

Kickin' it up

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

I've done well for 3 days now with the kickin' it up. I have worked my muscles to the fatigue point and I can feel it. So now the next step will be sit down this weekend and make up a chart/plan to make the exercise transition easier and smoother.

Today's Sparkpeople Daily Deks calendar note is;
Feb. 23:
Take the stairs. Skip the elevators, escalators and other "people movers' and move your own body. You'll burn calories and avoid lines in airports, malls and offices.

I made a great mixed bean salad for supper. I added the recipe to my to my Spark recipes. I just put stuff in a bowl and mixed it up.

Have a GREAT day.

Today you'll have to do it for me. Walked the dogs early. Then walked walmart for an hour
. Somehow that kicked in the neuropathy even with the meds.

Tomorrow is another day. emoticon
