Bootcamp progress, sprained foot & other bits

I am not keeping up with the bootcamp very well but that is water under the bridge. Like the Spark book says, don't beat yourself up over small things. I am trying to keep up. I did the video yesterday and I had plenty of fiber. I did the cardio and that how I got my sprained foot. I will try and keep up as much as I can now.

I was happily "walking" along with Leslie Sansone yesterday, doing the power boosted part of the walk, forward and backward walking and took one step too far backward and twisted my foot. I saw stars, it hurt. I stopped for a minute until the stars went away then checked the toes and the range of motion. It stopped hurting and felt ok so I went back to walking. later on in the evening it hurt a bit and it was swollen so I put ice on it. Today it does hurt a bit so I wrapped it but I am so uncomfortable trying to keep it elevated.
Sounds like a day to lay around and do cross stitch while I keep the foot up. It's one thing to sit around all day and do nothing when you have no energy, but it's another thing to HAVE to sit around when all you want to do is get up and move!

Speaking of Leslie Sansone, I joined her Walk Club yesterday. I got an AARP discount on the membership fee so that was GREAT. She has some extra videos you don't get without the membership plus a walk journal.

  Sorry about your foot hope it heals fast so you can get back in the walking. Cross stitch seems a good thing to do when your not doing anything else do to hurting. I do plastic canvas and tried cross stitch once but didn't get it. Well hope you are having a great day. emoticon

    Take care of the sprain. I hate to give bad news but they can take time to heal. Look on the bright side, you will get to do a lot of needlework. Take care and take it easy. emoticon

    Sorry to hear about your ankle. Perhaps the cross stitch will be nice to catch up on while you're healing. You might also try some exercises that you don't normally do like crunches to stay off your feet. That's also mixing up the exercises which is a good way to lose by confusing your body. Work around it where you stay off your feet. Good Luck

    Oh Robin! I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle. Just rest for the next few days so it doesn't get worse. Cross stitching sounds like a great way to pass away the time.

Next week Tuesday I need to go for some minor surgery and was told I won't be able to exercise for at least 2 weeks so I'm sure I'll get a little frustrated with sitting. This is how life goes, right??? :)

    I am sorry that you got hurt walking. Hopefully it won't take long to heal.

That is great that you joined Leslie's Walk at Home program. I found one of her videos on-demand and have been doing that. I really enjoy it.

    Great preserverance. You kept going and that is important. If you can't use your foot try using the fitness ball and there are videos for this too. At least you can strength train and still feel good. Hope you get better soon.

    Ouch, Robin! I hope it's nothing more than a sprain that will clear up with a day's rest.

I, too, have found it hard to keep up with the Boot Camp workouts. It's very hard to do when you're away for a few days without access to a computer.

Get that foot well soon!

Crockpot Oatmeal

Apple Cinnamon Crockpot oatmeal:
Combine 2 cups oats, 1 chopped apple, 1 tsp cinnamon and 4 cups water in your slow cooker. Cook on low overnight and sweeten to taste. Servies 4, 170 calories, 2g fat.

    I love doing grains in the crockpot for breakfast. One recipe I have includes steel cut oats, barley, brown rice and dried fruit and it makes enough to get me through the week.
And best of all...that first morning it's all ready for me!

    This sounds pretty darn yummy! Did you make a full batch since it's just you and the hubby? My husband travels alot and I know that four is a bit much for one person. Maybe I'll cut it in half and give this a try. Thanks so much for bringing this recipe to our attention.

The Spark

First off, if you have the book, please go to the iTunes site and rate it and leave a review. There are only 3 reviews and 6 ratings.

Today I went ahead and downloaded The Spark from iTunes. I wasn't sure if it would work on my iPod since I only have the Shuffle machine but it does work, but I don't think I can fast forward or go back and listen again but will have to start over.
So far it is very interesting and thought provoking, I am enjoying it but I still can't wait to get the hardback book. What a wonderful story of how Chris is so successful all on his own. I am going to start taking notes so I can re-read when I get the book.
