Note for Monday:
Be Not afraid of going slowly; be afraid of standing still.

We tried another new recipe tonight, not one for Thanksgiving but one I found somewhere. Oven baked Chicken fried steak. It was pretty good. It called for corn flakes crushed but I had some bran flakes so used those instead and it tasted good. I 'll have to post the recipe tomorrow.

The daily desk calendar note for Nov. 21/22
Seek out healthier recipes this weekend. Make over foods so that they're lighter and healthier for everyone. Plan your Thanksgiving feast this weekend, so you'll know what (and how much) to put on your plate.
They are about 2 weeks too late with this one, I did all the planning at the begining of the month.

Ode to Thanksgiving

Saturday, November 21, 2009

PLEASE NOTE: I DID NOT WRITE THIS! I DO plan to eat in moderation and use strict portion control! This is meant to be funny.

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.

I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY,
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS.
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!

Daily Desk Calendar note

Friday, November 20, 2009

The busy holiday season is fast approaching! Don't let your workouts go by the wayside. At the very least, commit to 10 minutes of fitness every day. It all counts for something and 10 minutes are better than none.
There is no busy holiday season here, Chrismtas is NOT celebrated or observed and is against the law here.

Today I got in 35 minutes of Walk Away the Pounds-2 miles, then did 20 minutes of strength training, 5 loads of laundry. If DH is watching crap on tv tonight like is what on now, I'll get in a whole lot more exercise.

I haven't been reading your blog long enough to really understand why you are living over there right now, but I do know enough to have a bit of sympathy for you. After my late husband's brother got out of the Air Force he got a contract working in Saudi doing aircraft maintenance. He had a lot to say about not being allowed to wear a cross pendant outside of his shirt or openly celebrate Christmas.

I know it's hard for you and that you hate it over there but try to hang tight for a few more months until you can come back to this part of the world. Your Spark pals will be here in cyberspace to encourage you when things aren't going well. Keep on working at getting into better shape....hopefully it will help the time pass more quickly for you. emoticon

Busy Thursday

Thursday, November 19, 2009

This is our weekend here so today was grocery shopping and general shopping. Went to a medical supply place and found some test strips for my diabetes meter, I just hope they continue stocking them. Went to a couple other stores then to the grocery store.
The cranberry boat came in along with the Christmas candy boat. I paid $5.00 for a bag of Ocean Spray Cranberries. I don't know if that is high or average but when you live outside of your home country, little things mean a lot. However, I did draw the line at $10.20 for a 10 oz bag of "holiday" Hershey Kisses. I didn't bother checking the price on the candy canes.
They also had a 8 oz container of fresh blueberries, $8.07 for those.

I may end up doing some exercise tonight, I don't like what DH is watching on tv.

I wouldn't pay that much for the candy. I have paying $3-$4 for a bag of candy. Good for you. I know what you mean, I was over seas for 6 years, it cost more.

I don't know about the price of the cranberries, but I agree that I would not have purchased the kisses either for that price. I am sure that there are people who would purchase them, but not me. I don't need them any way.

You are a stronger woman than I am.
