We made it to NY

Thursday, July 23, 2009

The drive was fine wtih both grandsons, no problems. We draped the back seat with plastic painter's cloth just in case anyone got sick but no problem. Just a long drive. I made sure when we parked at reast stops to park away from the buildings so I could get in a walk.

It's good to see my parents but so hard to see my dad with his oxygen, I can tell he's not all that well. It's good to see my sister and nieces and great nephew too.

I did a few minutes of Walk Away The Pounds this evening while watching the YANKEES GAME LIVE ON YES NETWORK in the motel room which felt good!

Glad you got in a few minutes of excercise, it REALLY helps with the stress of caring for a loved one. While you are rooting for the Yankees, we cross-stitchers are rooting for you!

Glad you are there safe and sound - isn't it awesome to be able to watch YES?

Sorry to hear about your dad - we are finding the same thing with my mom-in-law -- very hard to see them going downhill.

Enjoy your time in NY!!!

Glad you are able to spend some time with your parents Robin. As hard as it is to see your dad with the oxygen, I know you are happy to see him before you have to go back overseas.

ENJOY!

We're off to New York State!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

New York STATE that is, NOT the Big Apple and not Yankee Stadium. I'm taking my daughter and 2 grandsons on a road trip to Upstate/Central NY (Mohawk Valley) to visit my parents and family for 5 days. The motel has a fitness center so I may use the facility.
I will still be able to check in I hope.
My parents will get to have all 3 of their great grandsons, all 4 of their grandchildren and both my sister and I together.
When I get back, I am going to join a fitness center. It's a month to month membership and for the size and quantity of the facilities, it's well worth it, and it's open 24 hours. Woo Hoo!

Thats great news Robin. The gym membership should help you a lot.
You should have a good time with your family Its like a family reunion.
NY is still NY I'd love to be in that state one time. Oh well maybe you can go to NYC another time or maybe take a side trip there for a day.

Interesting! My husband and I are going to Upstate New York (Cornwallville--south of Durham) Aug. 6 for six days. I don't know what kind of computer access, if any, I will have. Trauma! We live in California so this is a very big deal to me who rarely gets out of the state. Here's to a great time for all of us!

A nice day for a swim

Saturday, July 18, 2009

My grandson wanted to go to the beach so we went for a swim. The water was cold but nice. I got in some water exercises. Then we went out to Tyler's favorite restaurant for dinner, a seafood place that is a local place but oh so good.

I made some blueberry jam today but I don't know how it turned out yet, it says to let it set for a couple days. I froze some blueberries too to take to my sister and parents.

not much else interesting today

Mmmmmmmm homemade blueberry jam. Now that sounds awesome! You'll have to let me know how it turns out. Right now that would be good with my coffee and english muffin.

Glad that you are able to enjoy time with the grandkids. They are so fun to watch at that age, aren't they???

Hope you have a good week ahead!

Thank you Spark Friends and team mates!

Friday, July 17, 2009

Thank you for the congratulations and SparkGoodies you posted for me on my SparkPeople Anniversary, it meant a lot to me.
It is getting to be a struggle now, I have gained another pound so I have now gained 7 pounds since I've been home and my excuse is no exercise, my own damn fault and no one else to blame. So now I have to get busy.
Once again it is also time to go visit my parents for a few days so now it will be worse with forcing me to eat. My mother is diabetic but she doesn't eat very good, she eats a lot of starchy stuff and says it's ok. I'm going to buy a few groceries to help them.
I'm taking my daughter and both grandsons with me so my parents will be so happy to see them. They will have all 3 GREAT-grandSONS, all 4 grand children (3 girls, 1 boy-mine) and both my sister and I.

Sadly my last living Aunt passed away on July 16 and unfortunately I just can't make it up there for her funeral. I just can't afford the gas, motel room, food for a whole week's trip. It may sound horrible, but that is the way it is for me right now.

I am sorry to hear that your return home did not bring joy and relaxation as planned. I am sorry about your Aunt. I could not afford to attend my new nephew's funeral due to having my truck die and not having money to buy a new one. Hang in there.

I am gaining weight like crazy all while I diet. I do think exercise is always the key. Good luck.

Happy SparkAversary to me!

Thursday, July 16, 2009

I have been with this GREAT site for a year now. It doesn't seem like a year either. I lost 20lbs but as of today I have gained back 6 of those. I know I need to stop and concentrate and loose those 5 lbs again and keep them off. I can really feel those 5 lbs too.
I've had a team meet & greet that was a blast

My grandson is here wtih me for a few days then we will drive to NY to visit my parents.
The 15th was my daughter's 9th wedding anniversary, it doesn't seem that long.
