A nice day for a swim

Saturday, July 18, 2009

My grandson wanted to go to the beach so we went for a swim. The water was cold but nice. I got in some water exercises. Then we went out to Tyler's favorite restaurant for dinner, a seafood place that is a local place but oh so good.

I made some blueberry jam today but I don't know how it turned out yet, it says to let it set for a couple days. I froze some blueberries too to take to my sister and parents.

not much else interesting today

Mmmmmmmm homemade blueberry jam. Now that sounds awesome! You'll have to let me know how it turns out. Right now that would be good with my coffee and english muffin.

Glad that you are able to enjoy time with the grandkids. They are so fun to watch at that age, aren't they???

Hope you have a good week ahead!

Thank you Spark Friends and team mates!

Friday, July 17, 2009

Thank you for the congratulations and SparkGoodies you posted for me on my SparkPeople Anniversary, it meant a lot to me.
It is getting to be a struggle now, I have gained another pound so I have now gained 7 pounds since I've been home and my excuse is no exercise, my own damn fault and no one else to blame. So now I have to get busy.
Once again it is also time to go visit my parents for a few days so now it will be worse with forcing me to eat. My mother is diabetic but she doesn't eat very good, she eats a lot of starchy stuff and says it's ok. I'm going to buy a few groceries to help them.
I'm taking my daughter and both grandsons with me so my parents will be so happy to see them. They will have all 3 GREAT-grandSONS, all 4 grand children (3 girls, 1 boy-mine) and both my sister and I.

Sadly my last living Aunt passed away on July 16 and unfortunately I just can't make it up there for her funeral. I just can't afford the gas, motel room, food for a whole week's trip. It may sound horrible, but that is the way it is for me right now.

I am sorry to hear that your return home did not bring joy and relaxation as planned. I am sorry about your Aunt. I could not afford to attend my new nephew's funeral due to having my truck die and not having money to buy a new one. Hang in there.

I am gaining weight like crazy all while I diet. I do think exercise is always the key. Good luck.

Happy SparkAversary to me!

Thursday, July 16, 2009

I have been with this GREAT site for a year now. It doesn't seem like a year either. I lost 20lbs but as of today I have gained back 6 of those. I know I need to stop and concentrate and loose those 5 lbs again and keep them off. I can really feel those 5 lbs too.
I've had a team meet & greet that was a blast

My grandson is here wtih me for a few days then we will drive to NY to visit my parents.
The 15th was my daughter's 9th wedding anniversary, it doesn't seem that long.

Blueberries all over!

Monday, July 13, 2009

Between Sunday & today (Monday) I have picked about 6 cups of fresh, wild blueberries that grow along the side of the road on my walk route and they are SOOOO good & sweet. Now I need to figure out what to do with all these blueberries. I just can't stop picking them. I have already frozen 3-4 cups from last week!

This week is also my SparkPeople anniversary. I joined SparkPeople a year ago on July 15 but didn't really do much for a couple days. emoticon
I do know I need to get busy again, I do NOT at all like these 5 lbs I re-gained!

This week is the Baseball All Star break so no Yankees games. I will go into withdrawl!

Wow fresh blueberries and you've frozen them so you can have them later. Blueberry pancakes and blueberry muffins and blueberry smoothies. How about blueberry homemade ice cream? Happy Anniversary Hope

Happy Sparkanniversary!! Love blueberries too - don't have any wild ones around here, though. We have been picking strawberries like crazy - a pick-your-own field is right down the street from our house! Their season has now just about ended...

In withdrawal here as well...will just have to get moving and get ready for our Red Sox Challenge!

It's my fault

Friday, July 10, 2009

I can only blame myself for being lazy. According to the dr. scales today I've gained 5 lbs since I've been home. I'm not happy so now I need to get off my lazy butt and get exercising.

It's been so nice the past couple days but today I left the house at 8:30AM for my fasting blood testhe frame shop wasn't open yet so , drove to Staples to get a printer cartridge, drove to the hospital for my dr. appt, found out she was an hour behind. I had a 10:45 appt, finally saw her at 12:15 but she is a great dr, I've had used her for 8 years now. Went to the grocery store and tried to look for bargains and got home at 3:30. I still didn't get some things done I needed too so another day in the car on Saturday.

Hang in there Robin! I know it's especially hard when you are around family and visiting and settling into a different kind of routine than what you are used to. Just give yourself some time to redirect your thoughts and break out some of those Walk Away the Pounds DVD's and I'm sure you'll be feeling much better in no time :)

Just talk to yourself and remind yourself that even on holidays you need to exercise. Maybe you will start back up again and lose those 5 lbs. before you know it. The weather is better here than where you were so maybe you've been taking it easy because you're enjoying it so much. Don't be afraid to sweat and get hot. You can always shower afterwards. Take your shower in the mornings after walking. That way you're feeling good all day.

When you have had a mini holiday (as I have just done) it is so hard to get back into the swing of things. Sit yourself down and give yourself a good talking to. Be firm and it will happen again for you.
Good luck

It can be discouraging but don't let the scale get you down. Keep your eyes on the goal and you will be moving in the right direction. A healthy lifestyle is more than losing weight. emoticon
