Another good walk

I had another good walk today! I made it the 1.53 miles I had planned to and it was cooler than yesterday. So I guess I have to start walking around 4:30-4:45. Not as many stares today. I also did a little jumprope too but I am rather "well endowded" and it hurt. 10 minutes though is 10 minutes and it counts!

I made a GREAT meal for supper, boy was it good! emoticonAll I did was grab the assortment of vegetables that were in the fridge, stir fry them up with about a tablespoon of mustard oil, added cumin, tumeric, curry powder and red pepper flakes (I LOVE it HOT) and mixed it up. I added about a 1/2 cup of brown rice that was left over and it was sooooooooo good! Better than your average chinese stir fry!

I did a walk today, 1.29 miles in 28 minutes, which was 2 circuits on the outer road of the compound It was 88F but a breeze. AFter I walked my blood glucose level was 123, woo hoo! Since I am just starting out in this country and with the heat & humidity I will take it slow and increase the rounds when I feel comfortable. I did get a few stares from the locals who live here. "What? A woman with her face hanging out? Walking? Why isn't she in the house sitting on the couch? What is this healthy lifestyle?" That is probably what they were thinking, I just kept on walking and ignoring everything but my iPod & my strides.
Yesterday my BP was 98/63 and all I was doing was sitting doing my cross stitch!

Can this be right?

So I weighed myself today. Last week at the dr's office I weighed 151.4 The scale here is in kilos, it read 67 Kilos or 147 lbs. I don't think I could have lost 4 1/2 lbs in one week. I have been on the go a lot and did walk a LOT in the airports the other day.
I did walk today, for 21 minutes but it wasn't quite a mile. It was just too hot an humid for me to continue so I need to do a little bit each day.

    Of course you could have lost that weight. I lost alot my first couple of weeks then it kind of slowed down. I was told the first week or so is fluid. Just keep up the good work. emoticon

A new adventure begins

I'm back after a hiatus.
YAY YAY I have access to SparkPeople from this miserable excuse for a country! It's not blocked by the internet censors!
I am back overseas where I live from October - June (come on June 09!)
I was just diagnosed as a diabetic on Sept 29 but haven't really had time to sit down and figure it all out. I know, how can I not have time? DH & myself were at our HOME in the USA and had more things to do than time to do it.
I was taught how to take my blood glucose levels with a monitor but now that we have lots of time I can read more in depth about it. I will have to sit down and find a Diabetic Spark Team to join.

My thyroid is back under control as is my blood pressure. So we'll see how it goes from here.

IT was 89F when I got off the plane Saturday night and at noon now it is 91F, a far cry from a high of 48 in New Hampshire. The humidity is absolutely horrible here so I will have to adjust my exercise clock. I can't really do much else exercise wise for a while until I get rid of the cat's flea infestation in the house. I don't want to lay on the floor and be covered with fleas.

So that is my story in a nutshell right now.

Where do I start?
I went to see a nutritionist on the 17th, we had a very nice chat and I CAN eat stuff that I was told to stay away from, just different varities. I CAN eat sweet potatoes, beans and whole grain breads & pasta & such. AND I HAVE OFFICIALLY LOST 10 LBS! I got on her scales and it said 150 on the nose, I am SO THRILLED! She said I am doing an excellent job and she is very proud of me for sticking to my Spark Diet. She hadn't heard of Spark people before so I told her about it.

My DH IS HOME! After flight delays, luggage delays but he's home. Now these next 3 weeks will absoultely fly by in the blink of an eye because I am headed back overseas when he leaves too.

I had a wonderful walk today, it was 41F when I started out in sweat pants, long sleeved shirt but I did my 53 minute walk. When I got back I was extremely upset to find out these past weeks when I thought I was walking 2 1.2 miles it was only 1 1/2 miles all this time. I DID h ave pedometers, I DID drive the route in my car. I had DH's hand held satellite Garmin divice, however I did walk further today too, so that is 3 times this week of walking further each time.

That is my HAPPY NEWS for this week.
