New stuff on SparkPeople

Friday, July 03, 2009

SparkPeople has added some new features on the site like a new calendar to keep you on track, new measurements, some new chat thing that doesn't work, they spruced up the recipes site, new gift certificates in the SparkPeople store, you can reset the articles you read. Lots of new stuff. I guess I have been busy with family the past week so I didn't have time to look the sitge over as well as I usually do.

It was beautiful this morning so I got a chance to go for a nice walk outside. I should have taken a bucket with me so I could have picked all the nice plump strawberries and blueberries on the side of the road. Next time I will take a bucket.

I haven't been posting the SparkPeople daily desk calendar notes so here is today, July 3:
Shake it! Create a playlist of songs that you just can't sit still to, and let loose! Dancing is a gerat way to get fit--even if you're just grooving in the privacy of your own home. Yes, working out CAN be fun!

    I have the daily desk calendar and like it but I really wanted the one where you can list everything down. Next year, I will order much earlier!!

I'll have to go and check out some of the other stuff myself. I guess I just have fallen into the rut of using my 'usual' and have checked out the new. Off I go!

My Sparkteam Meet & Greet was a BLAST!

Thursday, July 02, 2009

My New Hampshire Sparkers team had a Meet & Greet last Sunday near Concord, NH. It was a BLAST! It was so nice to put a face to a name, sit and chat with team members, share good food, go on a hike together. The weather acutally held out for the picnic. The team leader did a GREAT job on organizing the gathering, WAY TO GO HOLLY!
SparkPeople was very generous to the team too, there were lots of nice prizes, lots of t-shirts, window clings, a fitness starter kit and a Fit & Trim lunch kit that I won! Plus a banner that the team leader had made for us. We are trying to plan another get together for July.

34 out of 39 days of rain since I've been home and it's getting pretty damn depressing. It's chilly, damp, rainy, water logged and just plain miserable. It's making me want to go back to Saudi.

I need to set new goals for myself for July, but it's hard to get past the rain.
It's the holilday weekend and I have no plans, I'll be home watching the rain.

    Hi, Robin,

What a great blog!

David and I went for an hour walk this morning. Started in the same old clouds, but the last 15 minutes we had sun!!! Skies overhead are clear right now, but there's another cloud bank moving in from the west. I'm afraid this sun isn't going to last.... emoticon

    I will say a prayer that the rain goes away. My answer is always thank God for the weather no matter how bad it seems and he sends good weather to you. Maybe if you started thanking God for the rain he would make it quit then you could thank him for the sunshine. I'm glad you had a wonderful get together and won some stuff. They didn't plan anything here even though we have a team.

30 Days at home

Thursday, June 25, 2009

I can't believe I've been home for 30 days, time has gone SO fast! I haven't accomplished much as far as losing weight and exercising. It's been raining all but 6 days in June and according to the weather page, it will rain more!

I've seen my GP, had a mammogram and seen the diabetic nutritionist. The diabetic nutritionist said since my gout is not bothering me and I am on medication for that to concentrate more on the diabetic diet.

I haven't done any cross stitching either so I have to get busy with that.

My dad has been in and out of the hospital a lot since I've been home and is back home once again.

That is the update on me, I need to get cracking and exercise!!

    You remind me of myself when I didn't exercise for 2 months because of Dr. orders. I got really lazy and working my hiney off to get back into exercising was torture. It was all I could do to exercise an hour each day and then I started back up to an hour and a half. Getting back to 2 hours is something I haven't been able to do yet. If you don't work it you make it harder on yourself. Just try and remember its doing you good to do it. You will feel so good after you accomplish it.

SparkPeople work out clothing reviews

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

I have ordered several items at different times from the SparkPeople store and I have to say the exercise pants www.sparkpeoplestore.com/product.cfm
?uid=56241&context=category&showInacti
ve=N
I could live in! They are SO comfortable and really move wtih me. Since I am short, they are full length pants and not the capri length. I also have a belly and the pants do stay up where I like them. SO TOTALLY WORTH THE PRICE! And CHEAPER than what I have seen in ANY of the outlet stores near me!
The Ladies V Neck Performance Wear Sleeveless Top
www.sparkpeoplestore.com/product.cfm
?uid=56230&context=category&showInacti
ve=N
is great as well. Unfortunately the tops are not made for odd shaped people, I had to buy an XL to fit my bust measurement so it is large in the arm hole. Another item WORTH THE PRICE!
The SparkPeople Unisex Performance Shirt
www.sparkpeoplestore.com/product.cfm
?uid=56135&context=category&showInacti
ve=N
Is another GREAT shirt. I bought the unixex size because of price. I don't understand why the women's style is more expensive than the men's shirt. I could have gone down a size and bought a L instead of XL but I wanted to make sure it fit.
The regular SparkPeople t-shirts are very comfortable as well and I wear them all over.

I am not happy with the SparkPeople water bottle, I think they need to put on a "sport bottle top", the kind that just pop open rather than a screw top because the top on mine does get stuck sometimes and it does spill out when I open it too fast. It does not keep the water any colder or warmer than normal. www.sparkpeoplestore.com/product.cfm

    Are you going to show off your spark gear when they have spark day? You could do it for the town you're living in when it comes up. That should be soon. I will have to click on subscribe to this blog again as I've not been receiving them. I've also been backed up.

    Thanks for the info. I may just have to pick up a pair of those exercise pants. I am short also. I bet they will work for me too.

Keep on sparkin!

I'm a slacker

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

I've been really slacking lately in blogging and exercising and I need to change that. It's been raining every day for almost a week so that has my walking motivation shot and I just get so into flipping through the tv channels just because I can and because I am in control of the TV remote because there are so MANY more tv channels on my tv at HOME.

I also love every minute I have had with my kids and grandsons.
It's also bike week here in New Hampshire so I am going to that for a day or two just because I CAN!
I've also been trying to clean up the house and clean things out, sort through things I don't want anymore and just enjoying being HOME!

I forgot to add that I finally got a chance to walk this morning! I did a 2.3 mile walk in 45 minutes today, then I did a WATP video this afternoon! Woo Hoo!
