Prayers for my DAD

Saturday, May 02, 2009

I got an e-mail from my sister this morning, my dad was taken to the hospital again with an angina attack. They checked him and he's ok but in ICU and has a nitroglycerine drip and he has to have a blood transfusion because he's anemic but we knew that. My sister said he will be fine and not to worry but I can't help it. So if you can spare a prayer or a thought, I would appreciate it. He is 89 years old and I would like to keep him around a few more years.

I was added as the team co-leader for the New Hampshire Sparklers team the other day (THANK YOU DON) and I hope I can help the team along. I don't have any ideas yet but I will think of something.

My goals for May are to follow the Sweatsuit to Swimsuit boot camp program, loose 2 pounds this month, exercise every day, TRY to drink 8 glasses of water every day (HAHAHA)

SparkPeople Day at a Glance Calendar note for Sat/Sun is:
"May offers great weather for outdoor pursuits like biking-a great cardio activity that's also easy on the joints. Tune up your bike this weekend and get ready to hit the road" I don't have a bike either here in hell or HOME in New Hampshire. Women are NOT ALLOWED to ride bikes here in hell, against the law and I just never got a bike back home.

Well, it's time to go exercise! YOU SHOULD TOO!

Robin I will certainly keep your DAD in my prayers. I have a mom whose 87 and I know how I want to keep her around a few more years too so I can relate to you and your Dad. Are you going to be able to see him when you go home? Congratulations on being made co-leader of the Sparklers. I'm sure you're excited. Well at least you're trying to drink the water. Perhaps you can do better once you get home. Good Luck with your weight loss.

A new month, new goals

Friday, May 01, 2009

Today is like Sunday in the real world. 24 more days and I will be home! WOO HOO! Didn't do much today, grocery shopping, laundry, cleaned up a bit.

Today's Day at a Glance calendar note says:
"Take a walk. Need a break from a hectic day at home or work? Slop out the door and let your feet take you somewhere. Walking will help you clear your had and relax. It's great aerobic exercise too!" I love to walk and I can't wait to get home and walk in the fresh mountain air. It's too hot to walk here anymore.

Since it's a new month, time for new goals. I need to sit down with my calendar, menus and team challenge notes. I want to do as much as I can now that I'm on the home stretch. I want my kids to be able to notice I've lost the weight. I would like to try for another 2 pounds.

You're doing good Robin. I can see you getting to your desired weight by the time you go back home to your DH after being in the states.
I saw where your NY Yankees won the other day.

It was NO happy anniversary here

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Nope, same thing as usual, no slight recogonization of the day, funny thing, only my Spark family sent me hugs, hmmmm, guess if you don't hang out on facebook and post every 5 seconds they forget all about you.

April went well as far as my SPARKFAMILY and weight loss, I lost 3-4 pounds but still have more to go. I started exercising more but I can't walk outside anymore because it's too hot and humid so that is why I have my tread mill and my Leslie Sansone Walk Away The Pounds videos.
I joined the new bootcamp and will follow along with other groups as well.

Counting down my days until I'm HOME! 25 now!

Sometimes you DH makes up for it in other ways. He has gotten you so many things that have helped you in your weight loss. I'm sure he will be lonely without you when you leave.

I'm sorry that you didn't get to celebrate. I kind of feel that way around Mothers Day...maybe one out of 3 kids even bothers to call.
Great job on the 3 lbs...I only lost 2. but that's 2 more than I've lost in the 2 months prior, so I guess I'm still heading in the right direction!
Hopefully your remaining countdown will pass quickly and you'll be home before you know it.

Hang in there. When I first got married my husband saw no reason to get me anything for Valentine's Day. I was so hurt the first year. The second year I hinted and hinted. Nothing. Finally, the third year, I thought he is such a good man in all other ways, if roses are so darm important to you, just buy a dozen for yourself. As I walked through the door there was my husband with a bunch of red roses, a bunch of pink roses, a bunch of yellow roses and a bunch of white roses...and he said shyly...never knew before what to get you because I didn't know what color to get you, so I got one of each. I handed him the dozen I'd gotten and told him he'd done better than anyone else before him. Sometimes our guys don't forget us, they've just never learned how to express their thoughts.

It still was your anniversary. It doesn't change all the time you've shared together. It must be super hard being apart and I will bet you that you are not forgotten. Just keep up the excellent fitness stuff and wow the soxes off of him within the month.

Be well, and we are here for you! (P.S. Mung beans sprout in 3 days...easiest gardening made!)

Happy Anniversary!

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Today is my 32 wedding anniversary. I am not looking for anything special due to all the dr & dentist bills we've had to pay because our insurance doesn't cover those things.

Today's SparkPeople Day at a Glance Calendar page:
"Grow a garden. Watching plants grow and thrive under your care is a great experience! Dig in with cheer, knowing you're beating stress, becoming more active, and surrounding your home with beauty" Can't grow a garden at HOME in NH because I'm not there long enough to keep it up, can't grow one here in Saudi because it's all sand, it's too hot, and the disrespectful, ill mannered neighbor brats that would tear it up.

My cat brought me an anniversary gift this morning for breakfast. Sadly I'm not fond of birds for breakfast.

I am still going to do my exercise today, an anniversary is no excuse for skipping a healthy workout!

Happy Anniversary and yes I see why you didn't accept the bird but at least your cat tried to cheer you up. He was thinking of you too. Admit it now. Can you plant anything indoors?

Why can't people READ and FOLLOW THE REQUESTS in the teams here?
I joined the Sweatsuit to Swimsuit bootcamp and the posts at the top of each forum posted by Coach Nichole say:
"Hi Team! This is a thread for everyone to post the daily chat rather than starting new topics (which fill up everyone's email inboxes). Thanks!"
"To cut down on the amount of email every member receives, we ask that you please do not start new threads to introduce yourself. Below this post you'll find a "Sticky Topic" where you can introduce yourself."

But NOOOOOO, apparently those who join can't or WON'T READ where it says DO NOT START NEW TOPICS. This just pisses me off because now I get all these e-mails from idiots who refuse to follow requests and post new topics anyway. This really discourages me from doing things here.
If they would READ the WHOLE team site, they would see that the questions they have asked have been answered in the posts. Why do people have to be so inconsiderate? Don't they know about the spell checker on the top of their pages too?

Just had to respond to your blog and let you know you aren't the only one who gets frustrated with this kind of thing! I'm excited to start the bootcamp too (just like everyone else who felt the need to tell us in a new posting)... good luck with it!!! emoticon

I dropped the last bootcamp too, all because of the unwanted emails. I don't want to be a b**** and make enemies, but it makes me SO crazy that I want to scream, set up another anonymous username & post insulting notes in the huddle...

Sounds like someone is having a bad day..here is something to brighten it emoticonI would not consider myself an idiot but I have been known to misspell a word to two. Mistakes is what makes us human. I joined that team a while back... but left too many emails and I had to modify too much just to do some of those vids. I have been invited to ritas team which is private and my #1 team. we just starred a challenge for the month of may starts may 1 and I can not wait!!!

That's the reason I dropped the last bootcamp, I just couldn't take it anymore and neither coach jen nor her co leads were willing to address the issue, so good luck with it.
