Some of us observe it daily. Our kids never send card. The eldest said one day why do I have to buy a card to prove I love you. That means maybe I only love you once a year or once on Sunday.

NUFF said but they do usually call on THE US Mothers DAY it is different day in England. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Moving forward

Wednesday, May 08, 2013

Saying goodbye to my Dad was so very hard, feels like there is a hole in my heart so I need to get up and move on. My Mom held up good, it's been a long tough road for her and now it's over so she can get on with her life.

Tomorrow I'll get back to the gym and get a good workout. Yes I know I don't need to go to the gym for a workout but that is an incentive, paying for it so I will go, and I can get back to eating right. There were so much food and stress.

Thank you to those who sent hugs, prayers and words of support, it means a lot.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I went through it in '11 and know how you feel. It's great that you are going to the gym. Exercise will help you with the mourning process and make you feel better. Sending hugs!

Robin, I'm not so sure that hole ever really goes away. But I know that at least now I can think of him or tell a story of him and smile. So it does get better. Good that you're returning to some form of Normal life, it'll help.
Hugs and prayers

Thinking of you as you transition from where you are to this new place of fond memories and acceptance.

My heart hurts for what you are going through, having done this very thing 23 years ago with my Mom's passing.

Sending you hugs and heartfelt love.

    Are you home again now?.

You mentioned the gym so I hope so.

Does your Mom have family close by, I hope so I often wish I had family close by to lean on.

It is good you are going to the gym, which town is it in. When you are ready i hope we can get together.
I have Cataract surgery on May 30th I would love to do it before then.
Would you like to come to the botanical gardens in Boothbay? It is lovely and gets better daily now.
I never heard of ticks but we had no deer in England. We also had a lot of hens in my grans concrete back yard and in the allotment of garden she got from the government so she could grow food.
Maybe that is where i got my love of gardening. HUGS.
It takes lot of time to grieve I still miss my mother after over 30 years.
Take care Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Monday, April 29, 2013

I got married 36 years ago today. Today we are 6,369 miles apart but this year it is by choice and not something that was an easy choice. I do feel blessed to have my husband, we had a bad rough patch but we made it through. Today he sent me flowers and I love them. He ordered this special bouquet because the vase was purple.

Also I got a call that it may be a matter of days left for my father. My sister and mother said he sleeps all the time, he is not eating and he doesn't get out of bed. He is in a nursing home. My mother was going to make the funeral arrangements today so she is ready.
Kind of a Happy/Sad day today.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to both of you. Despite being miles apart you have your lovely bouquet to remind you of your wedding Day.
Are you in New York right now or will you be going there soon.
It definitely is a happy / sad day and my thoughts are with you. I too had to go to be with my mothers last week of life, I wanted to so I did.
Will your children be able to go over there it is a long way from Maine.
Take care and safe journey.
HUGS dear emoticon It has been a long vigil and I am sorry you have to do it without DH by your side, HUGS Pat in Maine.

Busy with family

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

I haven't been here on SparkPeople as much as I should be but my personal opinion is family is more important especially when I don't get to see my family most of the year.

Last week I was busy with my daughter and older grandson but I did make it to the gym a couple of days. We went shopping so we did a LOT of walking. I ate healthy as well.

This week my youngest grandson is staying with me for his school break. There isn't really much to do with him up here because not much is open yet as this is a tourist area. It's still on the chilly side here and yes, I do have a snowpile in my back yard yet.

My thoughts, prayers go out to those hurt and killed in last weeks Boston Marathon bombing. It was such a horrible thing to happen.

I understand how family keeps us so busy but don't forget that you count too!! Good luck with your grandson. I'm sure you will find fun things to do. Don't forget, cooking healthy meals can be a job for more than one!! (my teen son loves to cook with me)

I agree. Family takes a very high priority. And when grandkids are involved; well, that's way too special to put below anything else except maybe survival!!!

Good for you for taking the time to relax and enjoy family.

You have your priorities right. Well done. If you would like to bring him up here.I especially love boys. We have the State museum and even better the Coastal Maine botanical gardens in Boothbay.
You can STAY OVERNIGHT and get me and you some walking in. I still do not have your phone # so I hope you read it soon. Pat in Augusta live a mile or so to the museum we would walk but it is hilly walking back.
I would LOVE to see you both
