Lost in Translation

Sunday, March 03, 2013

I tried to post this yesterday but the picture I posted was not very good at all, you could not read it so I am trying again.

This is on the back of a package of shiny, glittery cell phone bling stickers, I bought the package just for the instructions

I thought I had problems with the pressure cooker from Korea.

MY really big surprise was buying a nutcracker table decoration in a pharmacy in Vegas. On the back the label said this product is painted with lead paint. It may cause DEATH. I went right back to the store and found the manager. I showed him the label which I had photographed to keep for myself. I handed him the nutcracker and he was really amazed that no-one else brought it to his attention. We went over to the display and everyone had that warning on them.
At least I could READ my label, good luck with yours it sure was lost in translation and lost from my computer yesterday too. So Glad I found it. HOME COMING is NEXT WOO HOO. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sandstorm

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Today while my New Hampshire home was getting another few feet of snow, Jeddah was getting a sandstorm. Orange sky, overcast and humid.

Whoa never mind paint work what does it do to going outdoors in that. My teeth are cringing at the thought of getting sand in my mouth.

Poor you.

I have to ask a foolish question. Which storm do you find is worse. Sand or snow. I mean it I never experienced sand.

I hope the winds abate in the next few days.~~~~4 days and counting. HUGS Pat emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Hope to see you soon. Pat

International plane ticket emoticon
USA Domestic plane ticket emoticon
Passport emoticon
Exit/re-entry visa (wanted a 9 month visa only got a 6 month visa) emoticon
2 suitcases packed - almost
carry on bag packed - all except computer

My flight leaves here at 0615AM MONDAY MARCH 4, have to be at the airport by 1AM, flight lands in USA at 11:15AM Monday morning. It's a 7 hour time difference and a 13 1/2 hour non stop flight that does not serve alcohol and will most likely be packed.

Guess I'm ready to go home for 5 1/2 months. Will be going from 95 degrees F to 30 something degrees F

Sounds like a plan, all ready to come home.
It was 40 degrees here in Central Maine, tomorrow we are forecast another foot.
I hope you have plenty of sanitiser if the plane is that crowded. Wash hands every time you touch something. I am thinking I will wear rubber gloves if we are able to fly to the West coast this year.

Enjoy lots of vitamin C from now till flight time. HUGS, Hope to see you soon - much love Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wow, what a long time to be on an airplane. Sounds like you have thought of everything so now it is just the waiting to leave.

Did you finish your scarf?

Feb 24

Sunday, February 24, 2013

NOTE: I am NOT in the USA, I am in Saudi Arabia where I live with my American husband for most of the year.

I will be going home to my home in New Hampshire USA March 4 because my 93 year old father is not in very good health and not much time left. I will be joining a gym when I get home since it will still be cold and snowy.

I will be going to see my family in Central NY a week after I get home. My niece is getting married in a quiet civil ceremony so my son and grandson will be going with me. I hope the weather holds out so we can make the journey. I haven't driven in snow in 13 years so this should be interesting.

I'm trying to crochet myself a scarf and hat since I don't have one with me here in Saudi since it never gets below 50F during the day. So far I've finished my hat.

Sorry I missed this one I did not get to much yesterday I played with photos and cleared the driveway. Snow is expected later this week in fact begins again tomorrow for us.
I hope you have safe journey not too many changes and good weather all the way.
I know you will be jet lagged so let me know when you get home. Any Airport glitches for your daughter call to see if we can help.

I made that journey to be with my dying Mother. She died one week after I got there and I always feel it was a very good decision for ME!.

We had to leave very young kids with people we hardly knew. They were more religious than I knew and our kids were and still I think are resentful I left them behind with this family.

I am so anxious for us to meet again. Pat in Augusta.

Going home to the USA

Thursday, February 21, 2013

I will be going home to New Hampshire USA on March 4 in response to a message from my family that my father will not last much longer. The Drs have said the blood transfusions he has been having for a few years now are no longer working, my father sleeps most of the time and he doesn't eat right. My husband said it is better for me to be home in the USA and ready than to sit here in Saudi Arabia and not be able to get a visa and get out in time.

March 4th is also my youngest grandson's 7th birthday but I won't be able to see him until the following weekend.

So if you live in the Northeast USA, New York, Maine, New Hampshire than you can expect another blizzard March 2-5 because i haven't been in snow since 2007 nor have I driven in snow since 2000. Should be fun.

According to the weather reports, you will need the hat and scarf. You are lucky that you can make your own. I have a hat that I wear sometimes that I made a few years ago. I wonder where the pattern is........ I made a bright red scarf but don't need it now as it is warming up here on the West Coast.

I am sorry that your visit is under these circumstances. It will be a blessing to you and your family.

You plan to see the opening game? How much fun that will be.

Yankees play the Nats March 29 in DC and I am working on getting to that game!

Safe travels,
Susan
