All Charged up!

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

This is my cat Annie sitting on the power converter (we live outside the USA and we need power converters to take the power from either 110V to 220V or 220V to 110V on appliances and electrical items)

NO HARM COMES TO HER WHEN SHE SITS THERE, IT'S NOT HOT OR EVEN WARM. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A CUTE PICTURE.

emoticon She is cute, I have a "little" male Siamese she reminds me of. We got him at 2 lbs last June, and he is now almost 12 lbs! I also remember the Converters! We lived in Italy for three years where we had all different sizes of them in the house for our American electric items. We have also used them in Seoul, So. Korea when we traveled there to visit our son for Computers and phones.

My daughter's birthday

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Today my first born child is 35 years old! Where did the time go?? We're 6400 miles apart, she is working today too. I did send her something she wanted but it hasn't gotten there yet even though it was ordered in plenty of time, really not happy about that. I'll have to set my alarm and get up in the middle of the night to call her.

I've been really enjoying myself the past couple days sorting through my cross stitch stash. I have enough fabric, floss, patterns and accessories that I could open a store, LOL. It is so relaxing.

Happy Birthday to your first born. It all goes too fast for certain so you have to make the most of it. I like the thought of you sitting with your floss and relaxjng. We are waiting for a snow storm. I know you have been able to avoid them for such a long time. Some days I like them but now we are in the single digits it sure is a pain. Think of me tomorrow snow blowing. Oddly enough once I get out there I usually have a good time. I just remembered FRED has to use his walker so I will have to play in the snow alone. Oh well, I just needed to chat. Thanks for the support on my Blogs--HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon

I can't spark anymore

Thursday, January 17, 2013

I am just not feeling it anymore. I posted something on one of the team message boards about a suggestion, I recieved several negative responses so I deleted my original message. One person said it's not fair for points for something not everyone does, well I feel the same way, why should people get points for something I don't do? I don't think it's fair that people can put in fitness minutes and exercises a week in advance, what if they get sick, break something and can't do them? Well tough, they entered the points so they stay. On 3 different teams, the same 5 people are in the exact same fitness
minutes and spark points rankings every single week, I don't think that's fair.

My C0-leader on one of my teams is taking much needed personal time and I need help and support for that team to get it sparking again.

I have lost all my motivation for SparkPeople, I see it as a chore every day rather than fun. I may just take a spark break and just post hellos instead of make suggestions.

I'll go curl up in my chair and do some cross stitching.

I can understand how you feel. I am a group owner from way back when MSN had groups, I have a slowly dying one in the land of Yuku. You can only do so much, you can't force the members to 'behave' and not cheat. Yes it is frustrating and a break is needed...maybe they should take the points away from goals, maybe fix it so a person can't enter in ahead of time, etc. I don't pay much attention to the points and 'awards", I think I am past that in my old age lol. I use this group to help keep me healthy and that is what it should be, not to win a contest and to hopefully gain some more online friends.

Take all the time you need, but don't neglect your health

I get it, I just got back from a 3 month break. Different reasons, but still a needed break. Now I know what I missed about SP and what I didn't .... and I will only do those things that help support me on my goal to be a healthier me! Enjoy your break and I look forward to "seeing" you when you come back!!!!!

And also know that what you have GIVEN to this community has been appreciated .... you may just need to make sure your "gives" are more in line with your "gets"! ;-)

SP is a tool to help you become better. The people who take shortcuts or fudge the numbers to get ahead in fitness minutes, sparkpoints, virtual races or other things are only harming themselves.

I have been using more features on SP and like to see the results improving. I try to keep the competition internal and the support external. I cannot compete against the other sparklers, there is always someone losing more, running further, running faster, putting in more minutes, etc, and that is even without the people who are cutting corners and fudging numbers.

I remember getting tweaked when I entered my time in the virtual race and someone had posted a superfast (and totally unrealistic) time. It turned out that they had signed up for the 10k race but had meant to, and did, the 5k race.

Sorry to hear about your negative experience, I hope that you are able to renew and refocus and filter out the negative people!

I will miss you while you are gone. Don't worry about what other's do or what the the nay sayers say. People who get points just for points sake are not fooling anyone but themselves.

I enjoy it here and reading people's blogs and getting a look into their lives. I do love to spin the wheel everyday and read the articles and the message boards. I have a lot of friends on a few teams and I consider you one too.

So sorry you're getting discouraged! Are you a competitive person? If so, then I can completely understand the frustration with Sparkpoints. I don't even notice other people's... I just focus on my own. This site is for us to bring each other up and support one another, NOT to bring each other down! If you find a team or individuals are bringing you down, you don't need them! Please let me know if you need support, I'll be glad to do what I can!

Yep, having a hiatus and taking a break never hurt--even from SparkPeople! No matter what, there should be joy in this journey, and if something doesn't give you joy--or any other benefits--then you need time to reconsider doing it.

I do understand your frustration about people entering in points they haven't earned but really, it's not that big of a deal. When I started on SP, I tried to get as many spark points as possible. These days, I don't even bother spinning the wheel! It's just not in the least bit important anymore. I track, I read blogs and articles and check on some Spark pages, and that's it.
When you stop stressing about these things, you'll enjoy it much more. Please don't leave Spark. emoticon

Sorry you're having such negative experiences. I agree with the others... and with you... take a break.

Points and streaks and all of those things are tools to help along the way, but they are really not important in the long run. What is important is to feel healthy and happy, to learn to make good choices in order to become healthy and happy, and to have fun and make friends along the way.

Hope your stitching perks you up and distracts you.

Go ahead and take a day or two off. Do your cross stitching and enjoy some downtime to reflect. Don't give up, this is about YOU. With or without Sparkpeople. Take from it what works for you and what you enjoy and leave the rest. Have a Great Day.

I'm sorry you feel this way! I have been on a team that has brought me down as well so I understand. You have to find a team that's better suited for you. Remember that you're doing this for yourself and NOT for all of the negative Nancys out there.

Advance tracking to gain points used to drive me up the wall as well. Now, I don't even look at my points. I just concentrate on my bottom line and try to focus on me while supporting others that need it.

Take a deep breath, say a prayer, and start again. :)

I can't imagine people really argue about spark points. It's not like you get paid for them!
I use sparkpeople for the nutrition tracker & the motivation. Spark points are just an entertaining distraction.
Take a break from spark points for a while & you'll see that it doesn't really matter.

January bootcamp + biggest loser

Sunday, January 06, 2013

I am doing the January Jumpstart Workout Challenge along with doing the Biggest Loser challenge. I did the first cardio video today and there is a lot of jumping, hopping and "jogging" Well I am VERY LARGE busted and I have the sturdiest high impact sports bra I can find (even looking online) and it still hurts so I have to modify most of the video or hold onto the breasts to keep them from jiggling.
This weeks biggest loser challenge is to videos 3-4 days a week so I guess I'll get that one done.

Plus I am following a blog for extra motivation and exercise. It may be only 5 exercises but she is great!

    I joined that challenge, too.

I sometime struggle with understanding what is required. Thanks for spelling it out for me. :)

Good luck with finding proper suspension for the girls. I am a medium sized chest I wear a sports bra under my already built-in sports bra top, so it's double the protection. For the most part it works.
