Day 1 - trying to start over

Even though I have been a Spark member for 4 years I have failed so today I am starting once again, not sure how many times this makes but I won't give up.
I started with 17 minutes on the treadmill at only 2.5 miles per hour and only got 0.63 miles, not far and piss poor timing. then I did several dumbbell exercises, probably not enough to do any good but I guess I have to start (re-start) somewhere. Hopefully I will get better and stronger and lose a couple of pounds and inches.
As far as my weight goes, I have no clue, last week I was at my home in the USA and weighed 158lbs, this week I am back in hell (Saudi Arabia for 9 months) and the scale read 155.5 but I feel miserable, I feel like I've gained weight and I feel bloated. Bleah!

So yes, I am back in hell until the end of May, 230+ days to go. It is 108 or hotter, so humid that the windows are fogged up in the mornings. I am cranky and miserable but did manage to get my bags unpacked and put away. I still can't sleep the right hours, I go to bed at 12:30AM, lay there tossing and turning for 2-3 hours, wake up around 8:30AM but still feel exhausted and want to take a nap. My eating is ok, there isn't any junk food here or any that I care to eat because it's nasty and local crap.
Yes I could stay back in my cozy home in New Hampshire, alone-not being able to see my husband except for 4 weeks a year, running up heating bills, electricity bills, car costs, grocery bills etc or I can sit here. Which would you choose? Run 2 full households year round, not see your spouse/partner for almost a year, freeze in winter or suffer? Hmmmm, save money or be miserable, I'm opting for saving money, staying warm, being able to cuddle with my husband, cuddle my kitties.

Oh well, time to settle in for the evening.

I know I will make it this time!

    Sorry it is the way it is, you will have to try to make the most of it. You can do it with the help of your Spark fiends.
You can continue to Blog once you are over the miserable jet lag and chat with some of us.
You know what you have to do and you know how to do it.
You can tell us how it is for you over there and we will listen. We will also look out for your exercise minutes so keep at it. It will get better minute by minute and each day you will be able to do more. Do you have access to a treadmill so you can walk indoors, I sure hope so with what you have outside.
You can get through this with our help, it will help me to get through the Maine winter. I would love to go to somewhere warm but my DH is always too hot. I too need to cuddle and poor DH wants few covers and I want an electric blanket.
Let me know when you are over the jet lag and you can do 10 minutes a day till then.

Met a new Spark friend but it's time to leave

Wednesday I got to meet a couple new Spark Friends in Maine. I have been talking with Pat for several months and it seemed like it was one thing or another that kept us from getting together but Wednesday we finally got to meet. I had a wonderful afternoon chatting and getting to know Pat and CHAIRUL. I can't wait to be able to get together with them next summer.

Once again it is time for me to park my car, lock my front door, grab my suitcases and head back overseas until next May. Another 11 1/2 hour non-stop flight across 8 time zones then a week of jet lag. It was a short but busy summer, didn't get to do some things I wanted to but it seems like that happens too often lately. I didn't exercise enough, ate stuff I shouldn't have, didn't give enough hugs and kisses to kids and grandkids.
For those that don't know me, I have been doing this for 20+ years now so it's nothing new for me, it just gets harder every year.
Once I get back overseas I can concentrate on exercise and eating healthier because the temptations of alcohol, pork and most sweets won't be available in stores and I won't have much else to do. On the positive side, I'll get to hug and cuddle my 2 furbabies again.

May seems like a long ways away at this point....................

    Next summer we should meet in person too! It seems that every time you are here I am in MA. Don't you think it would be great to go to some sports bar here and watch a Yankees-Red Sox game together? emoticon

4 years with the Spark family

Just another boring, blah blog, one of these days I'll get it together and write an awe inspiring story.

The summer is going by so fast, I can't believe it's August already, my vacation is almost over :(

My husband came home for his vacation last week and we have been busy ever since. Right now, we are re-arranging things around the house and doing sight-seeing.

I've been on SparkPeople for 4 years now, originally lost 20 lbs but gained it back plus. I won't give up and I will keep doing my best. My biggest problem is motivation and the lack of it.

Time to get up and go to the gym

    Congratulations on "4"!!!!! Motivation has always been a problem with me, especially after an injury. At least you recognize what is holding you back. And that is half the battle. Keep trying, keep blogging, keep tracking, and above all, keep moving! I wish you success as you continue on your journey to better health.

I am glad you are doing some sight seeing. Now the grands are back home we are too. Bar harbor was great. Walked the rail trail 4 miles. I find walking is my very best exercise. I have to restart using my resistance bands for Strength.
You are so right. T waited for you to get home and now you are almost ready to go back. e are off to the Coastal maine botanical gardens tomorrow and to Bangor Gardens on Friday, Saturday a concert and Sunday is the FORT WESTERN re-enactment. Woo Hoo this is living in the fast lane all of a sudden i love it. Wish we had time to meet. Pat in Augusta

Hang in there and keep at it. The way to change your life is one step at a time, but to just keep stepping. Sometimes we go down the wrong path, but the key here is to just keep plugging away.

Busy, busy, busy

Can't believe my vacation is almost 1/2 over, I've been busy with family and it will get busier soon.
Took my daughter and 1 grandson to New York state to visit a good friend and family, did some shopping, have gone to drs. a few times, done some tourist stuff, done a lot of cleaning and exercising.
Back to the gym on Monday for a few days then I'm off to Central NY to visit family for a week.

Haven't blogged in a while

I'm all settled in and getting busy. I made it back to the gym and really enjoy getting in a good workout with my gym buddy Holly.

This is Bike week in New Hampshire so there are lots and lots of motorcycles here. Wish my husband was here with me so we could get on his Harley and ride on down, he's not here so my daughter and I will drive down to the tourist train, take that and won't have to worry about parking. Then I have several stops to make this next week and next week with my daughter.

The Biggest Loser challenge also starts this week, we'll see how that goes.

    Hi I knew you would be super busy. Just maybe you and your daughter might go to the gardens they are so lovely. Do you have grand children.
I rode my motor scooter all over the place when i was 16 years old. I used to be a rock climber and when we went to the hills to climb I was pillion on my friends bike. I loved rock climbing till I met DH and I gave it up.
We will go over to Plattsburgh to see our son and hopefully we will bring the kids back to Maine to our very cold pool. So far the kids have enjoyed the pool as their father did. I never make too many plans that way I get less disappointments. En joy time with your daughter, your DH will be here pretty soon. emoticon emoticon emoticon
