HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAUGHTER

Monday, January 19, 2009

Today is my daughter's 31st birthday, I can't believe she is 31 already. I always miss being with her on her birthday. I miss being with her when I'm here anyway but today I miss her more.

My mom lives down south, a two-day drive away. I miss her alot, especially on my birthday and holidays! I bet your daughter misses you too! Is she very far away? My mother-in-law visits my husband every year for his birthday (this was an unofficial understanding when we were married) and calls him at the time he was born. He is 43.

Happy Birthday to you too Mom! This is your day too! emoticon

She's grown up and an adult. Its hard not thinking of her as a little girl. She makes her own decisions so thats one thing that makes it hard you not deciding for her.

DAy 16 of boot camp challenge

Monday, January 19, 2009

I did the boot camp exercise videos and did my 34 minute walk today.

I read an article here on Spark People about seeing how you are fitness wise which included 1 minute of push ups, 1 minute of crunches and something else. I did enough to say I was in good shape. I'll have to try it again when DH is home to do the timing for me.

Day 15 of boot camp challenge

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Well, it's 1/2 way through the month and I haven't lost any weight. I can do more brisk cardio workouts and more strength training but no inches or weight gone and this is my main gripe. I've followed a healthy eating plan centered around my diabetes, drank those damn 8 cups of water every day but no weight or inches lost. Oh well, I guess I keep at it. I may just continue with this boot camp workout after it ends.

I did my 43 minute 2 mile walk today and it was humid as all getout. Winter is definately over here and now the humid season starts.
DH DID get me a new stability ball yesterday! A pretty pink one, LOL. It came with a DVD so I'll have to watch it and see what exercises it offers. This ball is different than the other one, this one seems to have a rougher surface so maybe I'll stay on it better and it's also more "oval" than round, maybe I need to sit on it and round it out.

It's overcast again but I doubt it will rain today.

When I was on a diet pill and it would work but My pill I took that made me gain weight hampered it I still lost around 1 or 2 lbs a month. I did not lose inches at first. I was very discouraged too because I was walking 2 miles for 1 hour for 5 days and going on a bicycle for and hour for 5 days and the bicycle was even more of a workout than the treadmill. You know with all that exercise that you are gaining muscle. You have to be. It takes a few months to lose the inches. Do not get discouraged. One month I had gained 2 or 3 lbs. but only lost 3 inches in my hips. Perhaps you should measure again. I still think you are making progress. Don't give up or think negative about it. I did 2 hrs. for 5 days for 6 months then down to 1 hour for 3 months before my surgery. I know this works.
Check with your pharmacist to see if you are taking meds that make you gain weight.

Hang in there! I'm in the same boat, no weight loss since before Christmas.... (I had to re-lose the 2-3 pounds I went up) Bootcamp has made me sore, which is good because my body seems to have adjusted to my regular routine, which is mainly cardio with a little strength training, so I'll be adding some of these exercises to my regular list.

Just keep up the eating right and exercising and you will do well. Have you measured? Sometimes the loss suprises me in inches, even though there are no pounds lost. My inches have stayed the same, but I bought pants in another size smaller this week!

Just remember that you are exercising for way more than weight loss as a diabetic, you are taking control of your health!

Take care,
Evelyn

Day 14 of Bootcamp Challenge

Saturday, January 17, 2009

I did my bootcamp workout video but had to modify it since I couldn't use the ball. I did manage to do all of the exercises and did some extra crunches afterwards. I only walked 30 minutes today, rather the term should be waddled and found out that my mile point was the same as before I took the last reading so I'm confused now. I know they didn't move the roads and I didn't take any short cuts either. It was 78 when I walked but it seemed warmer.

Well I weighed myself & took measurements, I gained a pound and didn't loose any inches. Well at least I am getting a workout. Kind of sucks that I haven't lost any weight or lost inches though.

I tried to tape my stability ball with duct tape but it didn't work, I hope DH can find another one.

It is really overcast today, my weather page says it's supposed to rain tomorrow. We'll see.

Husband + cat + stability ball don't mix

Friday, January 16, 2009

emoticon emoticon

I was out of the room when DH asks the cat, "Can you balance on this stability ball?" I heard the collar bell jingle and a mad dash, came into the room to see the ball deflating on the floor. I told DH no and he poked a hole in it. DH says how? I thought it was heavy duty. Well it is but you can't put a cat on a stability ball. Geeze, I really hope he can find me another one in this god forsaken country. I am not a happy camper right now, I was having fun with the bootcamp challenge.

Maybe you could air it up and put super glue on the hole or holes. You can put it in water to find the holes.
