Walking season started

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

I am an American born and raised but I live in the Middle East from October-May, I start my "year" when I return back overseas from my vacation back home in the USA. It's still usually hot when I get back here in Oct. The past few days, the temps have gone down a little bit in the mornings so I started walking today. I still have to start out taking it easy so that in a couple months I can get up to speed again.
Today it was 80F when I started my walk at 8:15 AM. There is not much shade when I walk so it was all sun, the little bits of shade is from the houses along the road. But I made it 30 minutes or 1 1/4 miles. I'll try and keep it going.

    Good for you, Robin!

I hope the temps keep coming down a little so it's tolerable for walking in the mornings.

My 4th anniversary of NOT smoking

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Today is my 4th year of NOT smoking. I know it's not a huge milestone, but it is to me! It actually seems like ages ago. That is also the time when I put on 20 lbs and started getting all kinds of side effects of not smoking. At least the coughing stopped but I gained so much weight that I couldn't walk up stairs without huffing and puffing.

It's a boy!

Sunday, November 13, 2011

That is what the Dr. told me at 2:55AM on Friday November 13, 1981 when our son came into our lives. I can't believe my baby is 30 today. He's had a very rough road to travel the past 10 years but he is trying. Wish I could be with him today, I miss him.

This is my son with my 5 year old grandson on his first day of Kindergarten

My son was 23 today (November 13). He has also had some difficulties , including learning disabilities which may have been the result of being jaundiced at birth. He is still in college, playing basketball and hoping to coach one day. Will he make it? I don't know. But I love him to pieces, as I love his older sister. Last year we went to Fort Lauderdale, where he was going to school, and had a blast on his birthday. This year he is in Louisiana, we could not be together, and I am a little sad.

Much better

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

I didn't have the flu, it was a mixture of the side effects of my medication that causes nausea and the food I ate for dinner. I'm not in the USA so it wasn't any flu bug that was going around, I don't go out in public much.

Glad to hear you are feeling much better. Sometimes I think the side effects of medications are worse than what they are prescribed to treat!

haha Robin - sorry your meds caused you so much grief - but I did have to laugh - just the way you typed it makes it sound like we are the only place to get the flu! haha I know why and that you just don't get out much but it sure did sound funny - hope I gave you a small smile - and I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better - one day at a time girl - and hope the meds quit making you feel so crummy.

I hope you feel better soon. There is a virus or whatever going around. I think I had a touch of it last week--headache, scratchy throat, stomach pains, wanting to sleep all the time. I talked to a friend last night and most of his family has been sick for over a month now with all the above ailments plus a deep hacking cough. Some are on antibiotics, some not.

Just rest and stay hydrated until it runs its' course.

Happy stitching! I just bought a new Singer sewing machine and am obsessed with it. Making small clutch purses to sell at our Holiday Bazaar next weekend. Fabric was donated so we are all busy making quilts, baby blankets and whatever anyone can think of that will sell. All proceeds go to our treasury that we use to help others in our community.

Hope that you get well soon. Yes, drink plenty of fluids, maybe a good bowl of chicken soup and you'll be rid of that bug.

Relax and enjoy your stitching.

Hugs
