(NOT)A Happy Easter

Sunday, April 24, 2011

We don't really celebrate Easter here because the Christian religion is strictly forbidden as is ALL Christian holidays. We don't have kids here so no reason to color eggs or get all that nasty Easter candy or fuss over a meal.
So I called my parents to wish the a Happy Easter but couldn't talk long because my mother was waiting for the ambulance to come pick up my father and take him to the hospital. He couldn't breathe, he was having chest pains and just didn't feel good. He is 91, on oxygen 24/7, has angina and congestive heart failure. The last update was that he is doing ok, his color is back and he is his "cranky self" which is a good sign. I am 6,000+ miles and 7 hour time difference from my family.
29 more days and I will be home!

Holidays are always the hardest. I'm so sorry you're away from home during this. Glad your Dad made it through this emergency. I'm glad you are still safe and will be home so very soon. My brother just arrived home from Afghanistan and is having a hard transition. There is no easy path, but we are gratefull for everything you are doing. emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's hard to be away from the people you love when something like this happens - will keep you (and your family!) in our prayers today.

I am sorry to hear about your dad!! I pray he sees you come home before anything happens to him. My first husband was military so I understand what it is like to be away from family when there is a crisis. I was in the Army reserve for just 14 years and it never sent me back to my children ever! Family is not something you are issued when you enlist so it is too bad if you have one.
May the good lord bless and keep you safe all the way home.

A Sign? part 2

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Remember this blog on Palm Sunday? www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo

I took the one brown leaf and the one green leaf and set them aside.
Today I attempted to make a palm leaf cross. The brown leaves did not work but the green one did fairly well.

I might make more, not sure yet.
Do I celebrate Easter? No, but I know what it represents, I am christian. Enough said.

Listen my children and you shall hear

Monday, April 18, 2011

Sorry this is not a motivational blog or a health related blog, or a weight loss secret blog or any of that stuff.

Today is the anniversary of Paul Revere's ride from Lexington to Concord.

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.

So as not to piss anyone off here, the rest of the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow:

how can a piece of history piss any one off - it happened and back in it's time and place it was right - and how things were - it is just sad that now a days, kids don't have a clue about history or much of anything really. just ask them - they don't know. very sad

A sign?

Sunday, April 17, 2011

I am NOT the bible thumping, god preaching, jesus freak, religious zealot, type person but I do own a bible and I do say prayers. I do know that today is Palm Sunday. I live in a muslim country that strictly forbids Christian worship of any kind in the country, it results in prison and deportation. I walked outside this afternoon and saw that the palm tree in my yard had been trimmed and there were palm leaves on the ground. . Is that a sign? I picked up a green fresh one and a brown one and put them on my patio table, I will attempt to separate the individual strands and try to make a cross. 'NOUGH SAID
The guy next door probably called maintenance and told them to come trim the tree.

PLEASE DO NOT PREACH AT ME, I will delete all preaching replies.

For whatever reason your tree was trimmed, I think the timing is pretty cool.

Pink team Biggest Loser challenge list of 5

Saturday, April 16, 2011

This weeks Challenge for the Pink team on the Biggest Loser Spring challenge is:

WEEK 6 - Make a list of the 5 things you haven't had time to do. It must only include things for YOURSELF. It cannot include things that you want to do or buy for your family or your children.

Post your list of the 5 things you haven't had time to do, things that have slipped through the cracks of your busy life or that you've wanted to do but for whatever reason haven't done.....and then pick ONE of those things and actually DO IT by the end of the week.

BONUS - Pick and DO more than one thing on your list. To earn the bonus point you only have to do one additional thing from you list but more is better!!

My list:

Make a weekly Menu plan and stick to it.
Make a weekly exercise plan and stick to it
Find an easy way to drink my 8 cups of water each day
Take time to track my food
Do 1 hour of cross stitch

The five that you list seem to be really great! You really need #5 because we all need "me" time to be totally rounded and balanced.
