New SparkPeople bootcamp!

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

I just joined the Official Spring Into Shape Bootcamp Challenge along with the ongoing Biggest Loser Challenge so hopefully I can lose a couple pounds soon!

Dad is still in the hospital but getting better.
Another funny, they were in such a hurry to get to the hospital, my dad forgot his teeth so all he could eat was jello and applesauce for a day or so.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS, THEY MEAN SO VERY MUCH TO US.

My Dad's diagnosis

Monday, April 25, 2011

I talked to my sister today today and my Dad's diagnosis is congestive heart failure, Pneumonia & emphysema. He is still in the hospital and they'll be doing more tests this week to see what they can do.
One little funny, my mother was looking at his chart while he was resting and the line that said Reason for ER visit, SOB. My mother laughed and said "they got that right" and told him when he woke up.

I said that I was 6,000+ miles and 7 hour time difference from my family. We are NOT in the military.

You gave me a little chuckle in the midst of all this heavy news, Robin. Is/was your dad a smoker?

(NOT)A Happy Easter

Sunday, April 24, 2011

We don't really celebrate Easter here because the Christian religion is strictly forbidden as is ALL Christian holidays. We don't have kids here so no reason to color eggs or get all that nasty Easter candy or fuss over a meal.
So I called my parents to wish the a Happy Easter but couldn't talk long because my mother was waiting for the ambulance to come pick up my father and take him to the hospital. He couldn't breathe, he was having chest pains and just didn't feel good. He is 91, on oxygen 24/7, has angina and congestive heart failure. The last update was that he is doing ok, his color is back and he is his "cranky self" which is a good sign. I am 6,000+ miles and 7 hour time difference from my family.
29 more days and I will be home!

Holidays are always the hardest. I'm so sorry you're away from home during this. Glad your Dad made it through this emergency. I'm glad you are still safe and will be home so very soon. My brother just arrived home from Afghanistan and is having a hard transition. There is no easy path, but we are gratefull for everything you are doing. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am sorry to hear about your dad!! I pray he sees you come home before anything happens to him. My first husband was military so I understand what it is like to be away from family when there is a crisis. I was in the Army reserve for just 14 years and it never sent me back to my children ever! Family is not something you are issued when you enlist so it is too bad if you have one.
May the good lord bless and keep you safe all the way home.

A Sign? part 2

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Remember this blog on Palm Sunday? www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo
urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=4171481

I took the one brown leaf and the one green leaf and set them aside.
Today I attempted to make a palm leaf cross. The brown leaves did not work but the green one did fairly well.

I might make more, not sure yet.
Do I celebrate Easter? No, but I know what it represents, I am christian. Enough said.

Listen my children and you shall hear

Monday, April 18, 2011

Sorry this is not a motivational blog or a health related blog, or a weight loss secret blog or any of that stuff.

Today is the anniversary of Paul Revere's ride from Lexington to Concord.

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.

So as not to piss anyone off here, the rest of the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow:

how can a piece of history piss any one off - it happened and back in it's time and place it was right - and how things were - it is just sad that now a days, kids don't have a clue about history or much of anything really. just ask them - they don't know. very sad
