This weeks Biggest Loser team challenge

Friday, March 18, 2011

I am on the Pink team for the Biggest Loser Spring Challenge. Each week we have a Inter Team Challenge and this weeks is easy. - Drink at least 6 - 8 ounce glasses of water every day

BONUS - Now, if you're drinking your water as you should be, you are visiting the "restroom" fairly often. Before you leave the bathroom, perform at least one exercise before opening that door! You'll get lots of exercise minutes completed in an unexpected location, and have fun while doing it!

examples - You can do one set/10 reps of standing push ups against the wall, door or sink. Keep some weights or heavy cans in the bathroom for the week and do one set/10 reps of tricep kick backs. The demos for these and many more suggestions can be found at this link:

Today I did 1 set of 12 squats, 1 set of dumbbell rows, 1 set of 12 dumbbell single arm tricept extentions, 1 set of 12 sink pushups. Now I won't be doing these exercises at my 3, 4, & 5 am bathroom calls but this is neat and I may just make myself some sticky notes and leave them on the door in the bathroom.

No time change here

Saturday, March 12, 2011

There is no daylight savings time here, we don't set the clocks back or forward at any time except for when the clocks get so far ahead due to voltage surges.

For all our friends who know where we are, we are just fine. There were no protests in the city we live in, the "day of rage" did not amount to anything where we are.

glad all is well and nothing is going on near you. just take care of you and come back safe and sound! it will be nice to have the clocks spring ahead tomorrow - staying lighter longer will be nice. spring is springing up! yeah!

I didn't know what to think of the non-day of rage. The impression from far, far away is that Saudi would be more of a Libyan bloodbath than a Tunisian revolution. But what I don't know would fill an ocean. Glad you and your family were safe and sound.

Lone Ranger and Tonto

Friday, March 11, 2011

I guess this is an old one but I thought it was funny!

The Lone Ranger and Tonto turn in for the evening out on the plains. After a few hours, Tonto suddenly nudges the Lone Ranger until he awakens. Tonto says, with alarm in his voice "Look up! What do you see?"

The Lone Ranger looks up and says "I see the nighttime sky."

Tonto nods and says "So what does that tell you?"

The Lone Ranger thinks about it for a moment, then says "Well, astronomically, it tells me there are millions or even billions of stars and planetary systems in our galaxy. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is currently in Leo. Theologically, I feel the sky suggests that God is all-powerful and that we are small and insignificant. Time-wise, from the position of the moon, I'd say it's about 11:45pm. And meteorlogically, from the clarity of the sky, I'd say we're in for a great day of weather tomorrow. Why, Tonto? What does the nighttime sky tell you?"

Tonto replies "It tells me somebody stole our tent, you jacka$$."

A new trick I learned

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

No, this isn't about exercise, health, it could be classified as diet but not really.

I have a hate/love relationship with cooking, I have to be in the mood and I can cook up a storm. I love cooking big fancier meals for the holidays and once in a while in between. Other days I hate to cook and I love shortcuts. I also confess that I love to watch the food network. I've learned a few different things. One of the recipes I have made a couple times calls for this Bouquet Garni stuff. I googled it and it's a mixture of spices in a spice bag. There are no spice bags here or that mixture so I made it myself, rosemary, thyme and a bay leaf is what this particular spice mix was. I tried using cheesecloth but the fine powered thyme just fell through. The I saw an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives the other night where they used a mixture of spices folded up in a coffee filter and tied with thread. Well that worked for me! I made my Roasted Red Bell Pepper and Hummus soup tonight and remembered what I had seen. It worked great.

I also made some Shrove Tuesday pancakes for dinner and topped them with strawberries. It was pretty good.

That is my new find for the year.

Great idea. I dont use powered spice so the cheesecloth works well but love the creative back up.
