Some days I feel like I'm living my version of the movie Ground Hog's Day. I wake up, go to work, come home for a little bit, close my eyes for a hot minute and do it all over again. The amount of time I get to "enjoy life" seems minimal and the amount of time I spend working, going to work, coming home from work or stressing about something I did or should've done at work seems to consume the rest of the day.
There seems to be hardly any time for me or what I want to do for relaxation. I manage to get a little bit of exercise in, thankfully, but that's been a concentrated effort. I try to rest up on the weekend as much as possible, but then get upset with myself for not getting anything done around the house. We have overtime at work (I realize employment is a good problem to have and I'm not complaining there!). It's a delicate balance right now.
I just saw the time. I need to get to bed!!

I've been dubbed the "Super Fan" by my the women's basketball team of the college I graduated from, Blackburn College. I tend to get a little long-winded sometimes, but I'll try to make this short.
Years ago, I was a mainstay at the basketball games — home or away games — and was known for my distinct way of rooting my team on (both guys and gals). As time passed by and the players I was familiar with graduated, I stopped going.
A few years back, one of the players I used to cheer for worked as an Alumni something or another and sent an invite for folks to attend a women's conference game. I was able to make it. We only had eight players in uniform and one of them was injured. We were outnumbered, but not outplayed! Those ladies played their hearts out and I was hooked!
Since then, I try to make it to the games I can. It's always funny at the beginning of the season because many players don't know who I am and wonder who's Mom I am or which player I'm related to. The answer is none. I just come out to support the team. The women's team in particular never got much support, even when we won the Division III NSCAA National Championship in 1993 (which is a BIG deal!).
Blackburn College is over an hour from where I live. I try to make it to the weekend games there. Several of the conference games are near or in town where I live, so I can make it many of those games. The team never knows when or where I'm going to show up, but can always tell when I'm there. I have good volume!
Blackburn College is one of the few unique work study colleges in the nation where each dorm student MUST work an on campus job, working 15-20 hour per week, in addition to maintaining their academic load. I admire anyone who plays sports on top of all this! Many of these athletes are on the Dean's list!! So, me going to a few games to yell support for them is nothing in comparison to what they're doing. They call me their Super Fan, but truthfully, they're MY heroes.

Not long ago, I blogged that I use a manual treadmill. One of the things I've been working on is trying to walk on my treadmill for a little bit before work each morning. I'm happy to report that I'm doing better with this than I expected.
My treadmill is in the very cold, cold basement and I think I mentioned it's a manual treadmill. How much more of a turnoff could there be? I can't think of much.
A little after the new year, I started setting my alarm clock a little earlier so I would have time to spend some time on the treadmill before work, yet get my morning routine in. More often than not, I'm successful. I've been pleasantly surprised with my "winning percentage" on this. I have regular attendance! And I hear walking is one of the best exercises one can do. I don't have good knees and ankles, so I'm not much into the jumping up and down exercises, but I CAN walk...and on my manual treadmill...in the morning...in my cold, cold basement.
I'm doing it!!
