I found my *spark* - it was hiding under the bed of all places!!

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Sheesh! My *spark* was hiding under the bed - and here I kept looking for it in the fridge!

Ok, I did pray for help to get back on track - I really cannot afford to go back to where I started. We all know that if we go back to the old ways we also go back to the old weighs.

I believe my prayer was heard and answered and yesterday I had to eat due to the *weak wobblies* when my sugar dropped. Today my focus will be on smarter choices if the *weak wobblies* hits me again.

Diane - I am down .8 from yesterday! WooHoo!!

To the rest of SparkLand - I am still up @123.2 - but I am hopefully back in the saddle and will keep praying and asking for help.

Love y'all!

**edit:
I know many don't believe or have faith in a higher power - but I do and I prayed for help. To me, asking for help is NOT weakness - it is strength - and I got help yesterday as I really didn't have the hungries, finally!

I did get *the weak wobblies* and had to eat but could have made smarter choices. I fear I went into a panic but that is understandable - my hands started shaking and my knees went all weak on me. Afterwards I realized it was a blood-sugar drop. So I got my trusty mints out! Better 20 calories than 200, lol.

You have to listen to your body BUT sometimes stuff happens (the wobblies - in your case...:-)) I always admire the way you seem to handle things.

Choices, choices, choices.... sometimes we don't make the best ones... but you are mindful and have already made up your mind to do better next time.

I too have back slid a bit - about 10 lbs... but now that my biking buddy is back in commission - well I am highly optimistic that I will be leaving those lbs trailside over the next couple of months.

Thanks for being you!

I guess you better look under your bed and see how many sparks are under there! I am still looking for mine too. I most definetly believe in prayers and that our prayers are answered. Have seen it work too many times not to believe. Praying does not make you weak, it does make you stronger. Glad you got your spark back! Hopefully mine will return soon too.

Dearest Linda. I hope all the wobblies are gone and you are your sound and sane self again. Whew, you had me scared yesterday! I did my share of praying too and asked for you to find your way. I know that many were thinking of you in their own ways and Yes I believe ina higher power as well.
Just when you think you have it all under control, life slips you a curve ball, every time. It's learning to duck and weave that sorts this all out but I guess we never can know what the next pitch is going to be. Welcome to the rest of your life, which will be longer know that you work on being fit and healthy.
Remember 80/20 and put your loss of faith behind you. Look ahead and maybe you'll see me running( ha ha that won't be too soon) ahead of you chasing my dreams too.

So very glad you got your Spark back! Let me be your cautionary tale...I found the 18 pounds I lost last year, till I came back & am refocusing. Actually, I was never gone, but under a ton of stress and if it weren't for my higher power, I wouldn't have made it through. So yes, prayer does work and I thank God for Spark friends like you! emoticonRenee

I was sent several *sparks* today - thanks!!

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

I admit it, I have lost my *spark*

No, I am not quitting, I just feel burned out.

So thanks to MAWDOT with the first "*spark* pay it forward" and to all the *sparks* I have received since!

From MAWDOT:
I'm giving out flames today, challenging you to give out 5 of your own, and so on, to create a wave of Sparking encouragement. Let's keep the flame burning and make 2012 a great year! Sent to me by another Spark Friend.

I have given several *sparks* today and hope to inspire others to pass it on!

Have a spark-alicious day!

Dearest Linda,,,I am so very regretfully sorry you've lost ur spark. Hon, you are NOT ALONE !! It is a trend, we've been noticing on the team (I am SURE this has been ACROSS SP !) and its why we send out the "RECOMMITMENT" letter yesterday. Did you have a chance to read this yet? Will you PLEASE JOIN US in doing so? In doing so, we are in turn,,,, asking those who can,,,to COMMIT to trying to lose,,,and this will be TOMUCH probably for you,,,cos you do not have that much, so we'll reduce it for you,,,to 1lb,,,, and ask that by the end of this week,,, well we started this on Mon/Tues,,,, and you won't get this til Thurs,,,thats to LATE,,,so for the FOLLOWING week,, that you COMMIT to losing 1lb ,,,and YOU WILL have BACK UR SPARK in WORKING HARD FOR IT !! WOOHOOOOOO As we get the list on those committing, we WILL START to do more ! We want a count first. We want to get MOST of the TEAM in on this. Diane ML

One Question

Friday, January 06, 2012

One Question
=============

Bubba applied for an engineering position.

Jim applied for the same job. Both applicants, having the same
qualifications, were asked to take a test by the manager. Upon
completion of the test, both men only missed one of the
questions.

The manager went to Bubba and said: "Thanks for your interest,
but we've decided to give the Jim the job."

Bubba asked: "And why are you giving him the job? We both got
nine questions correct!"

The manager said: "We have made our decision not on the
correct answers, but, rather, on the one question that you
both missed."

Bubba then asked: "And just how would one incorrect answer be
better than the other?"

The manager said: "Bubba, it's like this. On question No. 4
Jim put down; 'I don't know.'

You put down, 'Neither do I.'"

flavored coffee made at home

Saturday, December 31, 2011

I have several salvage groceries locally and I started stocking up on coffee last February when I learned about the impending coffee shortage.

I found many "individual" packets of coffee 6/$1 which equates to a can for $1.00!! Most were regular roast and I prefer flavored.

This started my quest for "how to" make my own flavored coffee. Of course, nothing comes easy for me and I learned I really love Pumpkin Spice Coffee! They too were 6/$1 but I am almost out of them.

Well, I discovered that I can use regular Pumpkin Pie Spice and just put it in the basket before my coffee grounds - Voila! - Pumpkin Coffee!

My dad left me 2 cans of Apple Pie Spice and since the spices are the same, I tried it - hmmmm. Ok, not as good, so I added a bit more cinnamon and again, Voila! - Pumpkin Coffee!! When I checked out some recipes, sure enough - Pumpkin calls for more cinnamon.

I also inherited quite a bit of Unsweetened Cocoa but hadn't had much success making chocolate coffee. So this morning I tried by putting the cocoa in the basket before my grounds but added a bit of cinnamon to cut the bitter and it is wonderful!

You will have to experiment but I am using 3 tsp of spice to one 12-cup pot of coffee. I can hardly wait to try cocoa in my next pot of Hazelnut Coffee!
If you find other variations, please share! emoticon

For the tea drinkers - my favorite is Nutcracker Tea and according to Celestial Seasonings, it has Vanilla and Cinnamon in it - not sure how you would do it, but yum!
P.S. The chocolate tastes best with some cinnamon - at least it did to me. emoticon

P.P.S. a tsp of cocoa and a tsp of cinnamon in my pot of hazelnut is awesome!

P.P.P.S. a pinch of cherry koolaid in your pot of chocolate coffee is also nice! My sister had given me a packet of Cherry-Chocolate Coffee that was really expensive - koolaid is really cheap!

I love coffee!!! l usually buy flavored coffee. We have a Cuisinart Grind N Brew, so we buy whole beans and grind them as we go.

I never drank iced coffee until about 3 years ago. Until then, I would drink hot coffee, even in the middle of the summer. My local supermarket has a nice coffee bar, and they started selling iced coconut coffee. That got me hooked. I then found a place that sells coconut coffee relatively reasonably, so now I make my own (though I have stopped for the winter). I will have to consider flavoring my coffee with cinnamon.

You are so resourceful!!!

One big cup gets me through the morning. emoticon
