Week 3 of the 5% Fall Challenge

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Well, I am happy to say that I am making progress! I am so very thankful to MaryAnn for her advice which led to my decision to give it one more try.

I started at 122 and still trying to get back to 117 - yes I know, not a terrible weight but the clothes feel better with the extra few pounds gone.

Today I am in the middle of Week 3 and have managed to get below 119 - WooHoo! Haven't seen this weight in a while and yes! my pants feel and fit better.

My DH is still growing me fresh cucumbers and I sit and munch them all day long, lol. He picks them small and I eat them from end to end, skin and all! 900 grams is less than 130 calories! WooHoo! Free food!! I bought some baby carrots for when the cucumbers quit again :(

Still walking and biking - I keep forgetting to use the trampoline - I can read on the bike but not on the trampoline.

**no internet 2 days - so far no binges!! WooHoo!

If you figure out how to read while using the trampoline...patent it. You'll make a fortune!

Note received about a very ill member needing prayers.

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

this is a copied & pasted request for prayers received from DianeDoesSmiles:

Pup who is deathly ill, and trying to recover.....

This Puppy hadn't been "active" on the pages with us, because just as the challenge started she collasped at home, and almost lost her life during the stay in the hospital. So she won't be joining us for this season's (Fall) challenge.

However of course, she IS still one of us in our hearts. Here's the link to Gails page so you can send her a goodie or a message to please encourage her. Please let her know you are a Spirited Under Dog.

www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=TO
RTILLAFLATS

THANK YOU ALL For being so compassionate to Gail who so badly needs it at such a critical time in her life, a life that almost wasn't.

P.S. the reason Diane says "Pup" is that Gail is one of the Spirited Underdogs from the 5% Fall Challenge.

Lots of Coffee Might Lower Depression Risk? Hmmm.

Lots of Coffee Might Lower Depression Risk: Study
Here: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/health_
news_detail.asp?health_day=657254

My walking buddy also has read that there is a study about drinking coffee might prevent some cancers too!

Isn't it funny, I just recently found I can drink coffee with some non-dairy creamers! Yum!!
*another blog - another point!" emoticon

**P.S. I get a sour taste even from Non-Dairy Creamers and then noticed, most of them have Soy in them.
emoticon I am allergic to Soy!
I have been using the Sugar-Free International Delight Hazelnut and loving it! The Fat-Free International Delight tastes sour to me - and has way more calories too!
Quite by accident I found I can use Heavy Cream but you can imagine how the calories added up!
emoticon I don't know why I can use Heavy Cream but not Milk, and not Half & Half.

NON
DAIRY
"CREAMER"
??????

SUGAR
"FREE"
??????

An oxymoron?
A contradiction in terms?
Jez' plain unhealthy?
Did I hear talk of preventing cancer here?

Sorry. The emoticonmade me do it!!!

Some things make no sense at all. Keep experimenting until you find something you can enjoy with your coffee. I just wonder how on the mark these studies are.

Coffee beats depression...one day it's a cure all the next it will kill you. Same with red wine, the general "alcoholic drink', chocolate, etc...so it just shows that moderationis the key to every thing. I must say, I'm loving my coffee these days, not for any medicinal purpose but purely for confort of habit...interesting article.

I am happy to take advantage of all excuses to justify my coffee drinking (which is officially my only remaining sin: yeah!) Do drink it black and sugar free almost all the time . . . enjoy the occasional skim milk latte with Splenda, and I've tried the Splenda vanilla and hazelnut add-ins, quite delish! emoticon

TYBEWALLACE 9/27/2011 9:28PM

I saw that study and heard about it on CNN as well, I know when I cut down to 4 or 5 cups a day not only was I moody but I got headaches. I don't know if you can get it where you are but Splenda makes a coffee additive that has almost nothing in it but flavor, they make Mocha, French Vanilla and Hazelnut.
