The Success Story!

Tuesday, May 04, 2010

We are all capable of being "The Success Story".

This is a one day at a time program, but if you do the SparkPeople Program Steps, it really does work. I am terribly average, it's the SP program that is extraordinary.

You CAN do this! SparkPeople works!!

You will have "bad" days too. It happens. Life happens and sometimes we eat when life gets in the way. Do not despair. Allow yourself the "wallow" time when it is needed and just get back on track as soon as you are able. Never ever give up on yourself. I too have days like this when I wallow in food. The trick is not to beat myself up over it and to just get back to normal as soon as I can. If I can do it, anyone can do it.

You can do it!

Thanks for this. The last couple of weeks, it seems I've been wallowing in food but this week I've got it back under control.

Annie is right, you are not average at all!!! Maybe you feel that you are not special even though you have had incredible success with SP, but I think you have to give yourself at least some credit.

I have tried to differentiate between being lucky and being fortunate. I truly believe that luck is very blind and that if you have it (or don't), that it is pretty random. The classic example would be winning the lottery (unfortunately, I don't know what that feels like LOL). If you are fortunate, then you probably had a hand in making good things happen. I think you are fortunate if you beat out a lot of good people for a job, but you are not necessarily lucky. If you show up late for the interview and the interviewer is even later than you, that is luck. If the interviewer is there and doesn't care that you are late, that is fortunate. If you lose the out on the job because you were late, well, that is somewhere between unlucky and unfortunate. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate.

My point is that you are very fortunate that SP has worked for you, but you are not lucky at all. You have definitely have worked to make this work. Please give yourself some credit!!!

All that said, I agree that SP is an extraordinary program. I am trying so hard to get back on track, and I think I am succeeding.

Thanks, this is what I need to hear, frequently. Had a few bad days last week eating way over my goals but this week I feel a lot more controlled.

...back on track with a small calorie deficit today!

Monday, May 03, 2010

It was quite the weekend! I barely managed to stay within my Spark Ranges - at least close enough!

Today I managed to get a small calorie differential!

WooHoo!!

I'm curious about something. What is a good calorie deficit per day? 500? I've been trying to do research on it and am coming up empty and would love some advice. :)

Today was a "hungry" day...

Saturday, May 01, 2010

Today was a "hungry" day...

Life goes on. I did the best I could and maxed myself out on freggies!

At the end of the day I was over on carbs and fiber - not a bad day!!

Real hunger must be fed.

I have days like that too. I just can't seem to get enough to eat. Then there are days I can't get in enough water. Bizarre. Glad you conquered it with freggies.

Good job on handling that hunger. You are right. Real hunger should be fed. A few extra carbs and fiber occasionally is not a problem. Be proud. As usual, you did a great job! -Marsha

Ithappens but I find the carbs from "fregies" don't have the same effect as say the carbs from bread or such!! So the chances are its not going to be so much of a problem - I hope not anyway!!

A testimony for the Daily Calorie Differential Challenge

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Bless one of my co-leaders at By The Numbers, LOPEYP, for a very stimulating and satisfying challenge!

Her Calorie Challenge was to stay in range for the first few weeks and now for the last few weeks she added using the SP Calorie Differential Chart - located in My Reports under your My Tools button.

If you use the Calorie Differential Over Time (MyTools/Reports) you can see at a glance where your trouble days were.

I brought up the differential chart for the months Nov-Apr and I can see clearly where I was struggling during the winter months!!

Pull up the Calorie Differential Over Time (you set the time frame) and it is a great visual for why you are losing or gaining that weight. No, this is not an exact science, but it really is working great for me so I can only hope it will work great for you too!

Make sure your Fitness Goals are up-to-date so your recommended calorie range will be correct.

If I can lose with only 3 lbs to go - just think what this challenge can do to help you on your journey to a slimmer, trimmer, healthier you!

It also helps for Weight Maintenance! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

... so I decided to go for it again!

Saturday, April 24, 2010

I have tiny veins. The people at the Blood Bank have been "playing games" with me this year.

I said to myself, "self, get a life!"

So I am going for the 117 again! I know I can do it.

Thanks to LOPEYP and her Calorie Differential Challenge - I have already lost 1 of them!
