Back on track - yet again!

Monday, March 22, 2010

I just seem to have "off" days when I cannot get out to walk and/or my dad falls again.

Yesterday was both.

However, I knew I would have no problem staying on track today and I didn't! I even have a healthy CDE for the day, 595, and ate plenty of freggies!

Life is good!

**edit: I am still maintaining but around 122 - up & down & up & down emoticon emoticon emoticon

The Wave

Monday, March 15, 2010

... so they go way too fast for me! I contacted The Firm to ask about beginner workouts.

In the meantime, I found a great website with some Free Tutorial Videos to use with The Step - I am downloading them to my RealPlayer.

and hope to be using my Step and The Wave soon!

How many hours to spend online at SparkPeople?

Saturday, March 13, 2010

I am having to reallocate some of my time. Spring and Summer are on the way and I am going to be doing much more walking outside as well as trying to find time to do more of my exercise DVD's.

Please bear with me as I try to prioritize my Spark-time.

I am still here if needed - just might not be quite as visible every day. Maybe I need to do some things one day and different things the next day - I just need to figure it all out.

Love you all,
Linda

**edit: I have no intention of disappearing from SparkPeople! I still want to be here to help encourage others to be successful on their journeys to healthier bodies!

I just have to figure how to allocate time for what I want to do. Posting at the Introduce Yourself Forum, following the Friends Feed, greeting new members at my teams, reading blogs - it all adds up.

And I intend to go offline at 7pm daily. I must take an hour of downtime before bed. It will all work out!

I currently am spending a lot of time here just to get all my day's points I am entitled to. I do not read near as many blogs and other things as I would like to and I probably should get into more posting.....but I do have alot of other responsibilities I need to take care of. You have done so well that you deserve to take a bit of time for yourself and your family. Just do not forget all of us who are still struggling to get to where you are! Love ya GF!

    Dear Linda,

I'm with you 100% on this! Community is good, but I, too, am seeing it as a bad decision to spend multiple hours hunched over the computer screen.

Record a few things and putting in a brief word to friends in need is about right on a good day.

What I expect to find on a "needy" day, if I choose to use the computer, is other people in "needy" mode who are also happening to choose to use the computer.

I'm glad for you and for any friend who is able to be out and about!

I had to pick my all time favorite teams and do away with a few other ones. I guess as a person here working toward a goal, I'd hope people that have succeeded would stay and help some of us along, and so on, and so on. I know there has been a few people that I really admired that did so well and just left one day and I haven't seen them back. It does worry me whether they left because of time or that they are gaining back and do not want to come back. I would hope that, if someone is struggling they would come back and let the program work again for them. I know personally that the input of the ones that have succeeded and are doing maintenance is so important to me. But, I also plan when I succeed and am doing maintenance sticking around and helping others. I try my best now to help who I can, and hopeful they will also help another, and another, and so on, and so on. This works here on SP and I plan on staying her until they bury me :-)
But there are times in our lives that we can be here more and other times less. But that is life :-)
Hugs, Em

i recently saw where someone left this team. they had read the book, lost weight, and finished the program. they said they had to re-organize their time also. they said like a lot of people when they joined they had made everybody a friend and joined all the teams and now it had gotten to be too overwhealming keeping up with all the people and teams. so she said she was keeping the friends and teams that meant the most to her in her journey and was leaving the other teams. everyone that posted a response was very kind, wished her luck on her journey, and some said they were going to re- think their own teams and leave the ones they weren't really involved in. so don't feel bad, just do what you can wherever you want to on sparks. remember it is your journey and i wish you a great one !!

I hear you , Linda, and have been thinking of this myself. I have a huge yard which requires tending in the spring/summer + I started that pruning and wood chipping project last fall.

I also have joined the flylady cleaning system, to help get my house in order and keep it that way.

So I too will be spending less time...but still want to log food and exercise.

`I think the friend feed feature is a quick and easy way to keep up with folks. `not too many points are earned, but one can keep encouraging others that way.

Best of luck to you in your spring and summer planning.

The Wave

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

My picture is from the DVD cover. But The Wave Board is inside the box, along with a non-slip mat and the DVD's. - the box is too large for my scanner, lol.

Here's the SparkPeople review: www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=the
_wave_we_tried_it_and_you_could_win_it

I saw this in another shoppers cart yesterday at Walmarts and asked, "how much?" $57 was the answer. So I went to find one for myself! Got to the register and another shopper looked and asked, "where and how much?" So I told her! Yup, I bought it!

I finally took it out of the box this morning and rocked side to side - nice.

Then I rocked front to back - more intense! And all I have done so far is a bit of rocking! Right away I wanted my hand-weights to do bicep curls! So I am thinking this will be a good way to work multiple muscles!

Now I just have to find some time away from SparkPeople to actually use my exercise items! I bought the SP Balance Board and all I can do is stand on it but that still works the core!

Later! emoticon
P.S. The Wave is the board plus the Workout DVDs. I think it is the Board that is called The Wave - not positive though.

I agree, $57 for just DVD's would be a lot of money!

emoticon

**I like it!!!

Negativity really is counterproductive.

Saturday, March 06, 2010

Looking in the mirror with disgust is probably the worst thing anyone can do. We are who we are. We are what we are. At my highest weight I could still find things in myself to not only like but to admire.

I am honest. I do not lie, cheat or steal.

I am caring. I can be happy for others having good fortune.

The inner me has not changed. The outer me is only a shell.

When you look in your mirror, please try to see the best in yourself. It hurts me to read blogs that are self-deprecating. Can't you find anything positive to say to yourself?

Try harder. I know that we all have some good within us. Find that good and focus on it. The shell can be changed - One day at a time.

The profoundest Truths are always simple. Reminds me of the chapter of the Dhammapada on the Twin Verses:

1 Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Suffering follows an evil thought as the wheels of a cart follow the oxen that draw it.

2 Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Joy follows a pure thought like a shadow that never leaves.

5 Hatred can never put an end to hatred; love alone can. This is an unalterable law.

Thanks for the important wisdom!

To JazzerciseGenie - I have posted on your SparkPage. Your blogs are allowed to reflect your inner emotions. What you are describing is not negativity but a depression caused by so much illness within your family. Not the same thing.

You just keep on blogging your inner feelings and thoughts. Praise The Lord if this helps you to deal with your sisters' cancers. Anyone that leaves you a bad comment you can and should report to one of the Spark Coaches.

On behalf of all of SparkPeople, I apologize for the insensitivity of less informed members.

You are welcome in any of my Spark Teams with your blogs describing your inner feelings!

I think there is a difference between self-loathing and having negative feelings about situations in one's life. I make every effort to see the good side of each situation, but to deny that you feel is sad is another way not to accept yourself. A wise priest I knew used to say, "Be gentle with yourself."

I am glad you can always see the positive in yourself. That is great to hear! Too much is always focused on the shell.
Losing weight was just a bonus, my goal is and always will be to be as fit as possible and to eat healthy, to try and prevent my condition from crippling me for as long as possible and to recover from the surgeries quickly without regaining the weight like usually what happens when I can't exercise after them for a while.
I more than most people, can appreciate and love the feeling of being able to move!!

So very true! There has to be something you admire about yourself. Think positive, act positive and be positive!

Great reminder... now I have to go think... what is it I value on the inside of me?

yes thanks for the blog. I am suffering with depression and famile medical problems(2 sisters with cancer) I found out yesterday I am making some team members tired of my talking about how difficult it is. So today I will post only good ideas. I thought blogs was your inner feelings like this but apparantly some find that bad.
